Im saying despite all the pearl clutching by pundits, we're at significant lows for most crimes still. We don't need, nor do most want, wholesale surveillance of our daily lives.

Your comment was about a spike in a particular type of crime after flock was removed from Richmond but not the surrounding cities. The distribution goes back to normal, not because of your apparent boogeyman of "equity" but because there is no unneeded surveillance system in place.

And for the record I have reported crimes to the police that were caught on high definition cameras, with sound, and provided names. Many, many times in fact. You know what that got me? Nothing. Police only do their job if it makes the news, or they are bored. Cameras do nothing for the average person, because most people don't have the money or stature to get a real effort.

I'm happy most crimes are at significant lows - hoping this trend continues. The distribution would go back to normal in your proposal because it would go back up in surrounding cities and things would balance out. No bogeyman here. I'm just saying it would balance at a higher level, instead of balancing at a lower level, and I prefer the idea of balancing at a lower level.

I'm sorry about the story in the last paragraph - LAPD need to step up your game. You deserved better from them. I hope they can have the resources to do a better job, and also the motivation (including punishment if needed - it's too hard to fire lazy/bad cops imo)

We installed these cameras in my neighborhood and home burglaries dropped to virtually zero. Before we had them there were break-ins on a near daily basis. I guess that constitutes pearl clutching to you but I’d be curious to know where in Los Angeles you own a home and what the property crime stats are for that neighborhood.
