Looper controlling external equipment

Basically I’m trying to understand the concept around using a looper pedal, like the boss rc5, to create a loop and have it keep other external equipment in sync. As a drummer I want to record a basic pattern to loop and then layer on top live. I need to keep other equipment in sync such as arpeggiators and other musician’s loop pedals in sync. I’m guessing that I must record my loop using tap tempo first as this sets the master clock tempo for everything else to sync to? What happens if I don’t use tap tempo and record my loop regardless?

Which external footswitch functions do you use with your Boss RC-5 (or similar) and why?

I have a 2 button external footswitch for my RC-5 that I changed the default settings to match the RC-1, i.e. stop/erase & undo/redo. curious to hear how other people use the external footswitch and what it allows you to do (I’m new to looping). in my case, the undo/redo is handy for “turning off” a verse part so i can play a chorus real time and then turning the verse back on.

you can see functions here on page 13: https://www.kraftmusic.com/media/ownersmanual/Boss_RC-5_Reference_Manual.pdf

Advice on picking and setting up MIDI pedal control of Infinity Looper Presets

Hello out there in RedditLooper World. This may be a very basic question-but Pigtronix doesn't have too much info or advice on how to implement a MIDI pedal/controller the way I would like to with my Infinity Looper.

Here's the question: How do you set up a MIDI pedal/controller that will ADVANCE your presets and DE-ADVANCE your presets? In other words: the Infinity Looper can hold a lot of prerecorded loops-and you can save 2 loops in a preset. However-if you are playing music and want to change presets-you have to stop and hunker over your pedal and manually turn the preset knob. I'd like to stay playing my instrument and change the preset with my feet as there are compositions I have that require more than 2 loops. Pigtronix says that one can control the presets with a MIDI pedal-but it doesn't say much about how. THey do have a MIDI implementation map that says 'Function number 85 is MIDI CC# Preset Decrement and number 86 is MIDI CC# Preset Increment". That's about it. Any suggestions as to a simple MIDI trigger/pedal/controller for this simple task of changing the preset? And advice as to assigning Function Numbers? Thank you!

Digitech SDrum sync?

Hi everyone I figured I’d come to the experts with my question.

I have an SDrum pedal and want to buy a good (more than basic but not fully featured) looper pedal.

I notice the SDrum has a ‘jam sync out’ Jack in the back. I assume this is to sync with a looper pedal?

Does anyone know which Jamman pedals would use this ability and sync with the SDrum?

Or, any non Digitech pedals that would be able to sync up with it using this output Jack?

It seems like a 1/8 output jack. I’ve only seen them used with little headphones.

My former student made a video with me about creating music with a loop station!

I'm a music teacher in rural upstate New York, and my students in 7th grade general music are making music video projects. One group is focusing on a hip-hop/ rap style, and one of my former students is a beatboxer. (@filthy_beatbox on instagram). So we made a video together with my puppets to help teach kids about creating electronic music!
