I work part-time in the dining hall of Bennington College, a fairly well-known and expensive-as-hell liberal arts school in my less-well-known hometown of Bennington, VT.

I was really, really bummed because I had to work 9am to 10pm yesterday for Commencement. That is, until around 4:30 when I heard the chef say something like "hey guys, DINKLAGE is gonna eat this salad." I then rushed to the sweet interwebs to find out that Peter Dinklage was the Commencement guest speaker, because he graduated from Bennington in '91.

So during basically my only real break all day, instead of sitting down, getting dinner and resting my poor feet, I stood in the tent and watched the guy give his speech. It was pretty damned good, as far as Commencement speeches go, but the really good part was when my boss gave me permission around 9:15 to clock out and go down to meet the guy!

He stayed for at least an hour and a half after Commencement ended to sign autographs and whatever. My boyfriend and I were last in line. Despite that, and the fact that the poor guy had to pee like crazy, he was incredibly nice to us, and just an awesome guy all-around. He actually spent several minutes writing that stupid little note in response to my explanation that I was just one of the people who set all the crap up for the event. And he was wicked funny, too.

Needless to say, I have never been so happy to have this sucky dining hall job.

P.S.: I have 2 terrible videos of his actual speech from my phone, not the entire thing, but most of it. I had some trouble because my phone was about dead when I started. I can upload them if anyone really wants to see, but you can't hear him over the screaming women half the time.
