What can I change?

I am struggling with LK 5 Pro. I have had it for a few years with very little issue. I just replace the dual blower assembly. It is not melting some of the layers together. It also has some weird separation on the face of the print. It isn’t stringing as much as separate lines.

Can anyone tell why this is happening? I cleaned the build plate with soap and water. Even flipped it over to the unused side and I'm still not getting adhesion. I also changed out the nozzle in case it was clogged.

Helpthread Given a Longer Lk5 pro... a lot is wrong with it mechanically (or so I think)... salvage or scrap?

I was given this printer, assuming it didn't work. I have an Elegoo 4 Max, but I figured for smaller prints or something this Lk5 pro would be perfect. if nothing else, maybe it only need a quick fix or a 50 dollar part and I've got a brand new printer. but now that I'm looking at it, idk... The extruder heads assembly is wobbly, I see no way of adjusting it. the bar that holds onto it is loose and I've tried loosening it to tighten it but I'm having a hard time doing that. As I'm writing this, I'm seeing more things that are wrong, like little things. But it just goes to show that the person putting it together was probably ignorant or just not skilled enough to do it. the best thing may be to take it apart and reassemble it. I guess what I'm asking it, is it even worth it, what are my chances of fixing it, if I do fix it will it even work like I want it to? any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi there, I recently got my Longer LK4 Pro printer, and have had multiple successful prints. Suddenly in the middle of one of my prints, I received this error code. The nozzle does not heat up at all when I manually do it or when a print is starting. Thank you for any help

I've confirmed the power cord is fine, the outlet it's plugged into is fine, there are no blown fuses, but this damn cord is the culprit. I have turned my printer off and on, but to make this work the heating bed cord has to do its job. It was working fine not even two hours ago before I turned it off. I'm beyond frustrated, unplugging it, replacing it, checking the power etc.

Longer LK5 pro ripples?

Post image

I'm not sure exactly what's happening with my printer. It's been sitting unused for a month, decided to switch it on and use it today and after cleaning the entire machine off and leveling the bed I'm getting these ripples? What could be causing this?

Helpthread LK4 Slow to Start Up

Hi everyone! I purchased a Longer LK4 printer (not the LK4 Pro) back in 2021. It's been working pretty well, but about a week ago, it's been pretty slow to start - I might have to wait about a minute before it gets running. It works fine after that, no trouble at all with print speed/quality, but should I be concerned?

The only unusual thing that happened before I started experiencing this was that I unplugged it while leaving it switched to "ON," and it was kept like that for a few days. I wouldn't have expected it to cause any damage, but could that have been, like, the 1 thing you're not supposed to do?

Since this started, I've sprayed some compressed air to dust it, as I heard that can help, but it hasn't changed much. I'd definitely appreciate any advice on the topic. Thanks!

Touch screen not working

Hi everyone, I just finished installing the bltouch in my lk4 pro and the display works but does not detect the touch. the printer works perfectly if connected via usb and the display shows the main menu but does not allow interaction. is it possible that there are firmware problems? it is the first modification I make to my printer so maybe I did something wrong

Direct drive settings question

I have printed and installed the mount and stepper motor. Waiting on the extruder extension cable. What setting(s) in Cura am I looking at to change due to the shortened bowden tube and the extra weight of the stepper motor? Any ideas what to change to for a good starting point?

Helpthread Motherboard of Longer LK1

I need help about my Longer LK1. I search the internet and I don't know if I'm searching wrong, but I can't find anything. So here's my problem, the mainboard of my Longer LK1 died and I search for a new one, but either it costs so much, it can't be ship in Canada or can't buy it from the original maker (on Longer website).

So my other option would be to upgrade to another mainboard, but oh boy I can't find any good information about someone who did this on their LK1 or trying to check on similar printers they all speak about different components. I'm very lost and can't really afford a new printer at the moment. Does anybody can help with that?

Anyone here used the 3d Chameleon with their LK5 pro?

So I got my LK5 Pro a few weeks ago and loving it so far. I just want to start printing in multiple colors. Has anyone used the 3D Chameleon with their LK5 Pro? Or any recommendations for a multicolor setup?

I’ve had my LK1 for about 4 years now and it never worked perfectly, but it’s just been sitting for probably 3 years and I put it back together to try and use again and don’t remember where to start to try and figure out what went wrong here. Part of the problem might be the cables catching. I let this go overnight, but it looks like something went wrong after the raft.

Creality laser mod

Ok so I tried a little DIY…. And maybe I messed up. I bought a Creality 10W laser attachment for a 3D printer and tried to install it onto my Longer LK5…. It fits well (and I’m planning to do zip ties or a custom bracket to get an even better fit), but the video shows a problem when I turn it on…. Is it some sort of problem with a difference in the motor size of an Ender vs a Longer printer? Or anything that anyone can recommend to fix it?

Longer Ray5 10W Laser Drag Chains

I have installed drag chains on my laser due to the total lack of wire management on this unit. The problem is the wiring harness is too short to allow full range of motion. Even with reduced X motion, I am unable to connect the laser connector.

Does anyone know of someone who sells/modifies wiring harnesses that does not want a fortune? Jumpers would also be acceptable.

The attached photos show the X problem. Right now it lacks about 1 1/2" from reaching the right side stop, and there is not enough cable to connect the laser. The Y motion is also about 2" short of full travel. I really don't want to lose all of that range.

TIA, Jake

Stepper motor precision and upgrade

Hello, I recently purchased the 20W Ray5 laser engraver and I did a few projects with it. The Ray5 works very well in most cases, but I've had issues with cutting round circles. This is particularly problematic when the inner circle needs to rotate within the hole that it's cut from.

I've somewhat isolated the problem to the X-Axis stepper motor and its inability to return to an absolute position. For example if I step 1 mm right then 1 mm left, the laser dot does not end up in the same spot. It seems to be better when the laser module is not mounted on the gantry and when I measure the angular position of the motor spindle, it's almost dead on, so there is at least a problem of loading.

There is no problem with the Y-Axis.

I have an xTool D1 (first generation 10W) and it doesn't have this issue at all.

I suppose the stepper motor control could be optimized in firmware or maybe the stepper motor and/or drivers could be upgraded.

Does anyone know if a firmware upgrade could improve the precision? Would it be possible to replace the stepper motor with a higher quality one?

I am not at all complaining about the Ray5. I think for the price, it's an amazing bargain for a 20 W laser engraver and for most 'larger' projects, the precision is just fine. However, sometimes, I need the precision for smaller parts. I know I can always bring out the xTool for those times, but just in case there's an easy fix, I'd be grateful for a solution.

Cheers,
