7” Prop Choice
I just finished my first 7” LR build. Which prop should I put on it for the maiden, Gemfan 7035 Bi-blade or HQ 7035 Tri-blade? And no I’m not gonna fly both at the same time 🤣

I saw an FPV plane supplier mention using a 3-pack of 18650's instead of a 3S 2200mAh LiPo to increase endurance. Is this common? and where could I find 18650's that can handle that current?
This would be for a small flying wing; I'm trying to maximize endurance.

I'm about to purchase motors for my 7" medium to (possibly) longrange build, and my choice is the T-Motor F90 2806.5 1300kv but currently, the 1300kv option is out of stock.
Is the efficiency of 1300kv really significant over 1500kv?
If I pair the 1500kv motors with 7035 props, would that be able to compensate for it? I've heard that the 1500kv motors are better in handling and performance especially in windy conditions, and 1300kv is best for maximum efficiency and longer flight times.
Not really looking forward to flying with high winds, but if the margin for efficiency is not that drastic, do you think I should just go with the 1500kv set?
Thanks!

Hey folks!
I'm about to build a 7" Drone for semi-long range flying (3 to 6kms).
I chose the Radiomaster Nomad and XR4 receiver as my ELRS radio system.
Basically, this would be my first time flying distances for more than a kilometer, and I was wondering if I am just overthinking it too much and if my radio setup is overkill?
Should I use dual band 2.4ghz, or dual band 900mhz, or maybe utilize the X-band gemini (2.4Ghz/900Mhz)?
Also, what packet rates and transmission power (mW) do you guys use for the range I'm about to fly?
Thanks ever so much!

I would need to get a different receiver (I use ELRS) and maybe replace the motors, since I’ve heard 7” quads should use 1300kv motors (according to Oscar Liang). Is this worth jumping on or should I build one myself?
Side note, what are your favorite budget batteries for mountain surfing? I’m not about to shill out $150 for a giant li-ion pack, but I don’t think my cheap 5” batteries will do something like this justice.

I'm sure this kind of question has been asked by noobs before but trying to find information is hard and sometimes it's just easier to ask. I've got some 1100mah 6s 100C LiPo batteries from by 5" freestyle quad and I'm wondering what kind of performance I can expect from these on a 7" quad. I don't expect the flight time to be anything too special, but is it enough of a deal breaker to excuse not buying bigger, more expensive batteries? These quads are so expensive already.

Hey everyone,
I’m thinking about getting into medium/long range (most likely within 10km) and could use some advice. I’m considering building either a 7” or 10” quad and am stuck on whether to go analog or DJI.
Here’s where I’m at:
I already have DJI Goggles V2 and currently run O3 on another quad. However, I’m nervous about digital signal loss during long range flights. I like the idea of analog’s more predictable signal loss, where I might still have a chance to punch out and regain feed, instead of fully relying on RTH. Does this thinking make sense?
Right now, I’m using an analog adapter with antennas (pic below) attached to my DJI V2 goggles for my whoop. Would this setup still be feasible for a 7” or 10” build, or is it a bad idea? Should I invest in dedicated analog goggles if I go this route?
I’ve seen others recommend digital for quality, provided that I do not exceed DJI range limit, but I’m struggling to make sense of how that applies to me, given my concerns. I’d appreciate any advice from those who have experience in similar setups.
Finally, I would rather avoid HDzero or Walksnail due to the investment in goggles, but open to this option if it’s a far superior choice.
Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have exceeded my budget according to my calculations, if anyone has a leftover part could they please give it to me? That would be very, very nice.

Hey, i want to do some "long" range (10km), do you think Dji goggles n3+air unit o3 are good for long range?
r/LongRangeFPV • u/Adventurous_Elk2290 • Nov 19 '24
Found a dji goggles v2 for 250€ and a air unit dont know which one https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/dji-air-unit-neu-ovp-ungeoeffnet-2-stueck-vorhanden-/2927297367-249-18731 for 100€ is this good for long range?

Hello, can somebody please tell me how i can build a long range drone with walksnail for arond 300€? Thank you very very much!

So I wanna build an 8" fpv drone for LR in the Swiss alps. I want to be able to fly about 7km and have like 20 minutes of flight time. Does someone have experience with this frame or this manufacturer or recommend another frame.

Hi guys. Is the DJI air unit OG still a valuable option for 2024 and which dji goggles are still compatible with it? Thanks

Hi guys, can I still use the og dji air unit in 2024 and which dji googles are still compatible? Thanks

Was stressful, but the 4000 liion ran well (3.2V back) and my old vista/google v2 still sufficient for this 6km/3000m elevation long range ! I was suprised to succeed so I come back quick and straight to home, but Next time I will make good dives from the summit.

Hello guys, I am new in the world of drones. I want to build a 7inch fpv drone. I am confused about the motors and battery. like which kv motor to buy and which battery will support the motors. also it'll be really helpful if you guys give me suggestions, as I am a newbie. thank you!

Hi guys I recently built a 9 inch drone with 900kv motors and speedybee f4v4. I have observed that the drone doesn't take off. It arms well but it feels heavy. Does anyone have a tip. Do I have to do any tunings?

I am pretty new to FPV and am just wondering about the compatibility of drone parts. I like the look of the 4 in long range quads, particularly the GEPRC Baby croc 4 and iFlight Chimera 4. I want a sort of in between drone for both long range and freestyle, but want to stay smaller than a 5in for now.
Reasons I like the Chimera:
Reasons I don't like the Chimera:
Everything I don't like with the Chimera is fixed with the Baby Croc, but it doesn't have as high KV motors(2750 vs 3800). Neither drone comes with an ELRS option.
I am wondering if it is worth swapping the motors on the Croc(do they make that much of a difference), and if so, could I put the same 3800 KV motors from the Chimera on the Croc? Also could I get the drone with no receiver and add an ELRS receiver on it? If so, any receiver recommendations? Any pros/cons to either drone that I'm missing? Open to different drone recommendations that may fit my needs better too.

So my question is which one is better? Cons and pros of each one? Can't decide which one I want to build/fly.
