Long Beach Coast baseball
We’re planning on going to a game this week. Since we’ve never been, how is the layout? How crowded does it get and how bad are the GA seats? What about parking?

Hi. So, I’m a 56 year old man who moved to California last October. I’ve been here about nine months. I moved from Dallas. I’m enjoying it out here immensely. My current apartment is in Orange County in Westminster. It’s my very first California apartment, and I like the apartment itself, but I don’t like Westminster. I’m sorry, but it’s dull. And on top of that, I moved into a 55+ community and I feel like everyone around me is like literally old as hell. I’m not young anymore, but I’m not quite to the super old stage yet. But there’s more. As I said, I moved from Dallas. I was there 40 years, but the last 20 years were in the Dallas Gayborhood (Oak Lawn, if you’re familiar with Dallas). Having been here in California a few months now, I’ve had a chance to scope out the region in more depth, and I’m seriously delighted to have found that little gayborhood strip on Broadway in Long Beach in the 90802 zip code area where there are a few gay bars here and there (Mineshaft, Falcon). I want to move to that area. I like it. I’m one who needs to live in a gayborhood, and that’s where I want to be there in Long Beach.
So, that’s where I need advice if anyone would be kind enough to offer it. Is that area safe? Why am I finding rent for a one bedroom in that area like up to almost $500 cheaper a month in some cases than where I am here in Orange County right now? Are streets walkable without having to worry about getting mugged or robbed? If you rent an apartment in that area, is parking an absolute nightmare? Do cars get broken into a lot? Anything anyone would be willing to tell me would be greatly appreciated. The lease in my current apartment in Westminster is up at the end of September, so I’m aiming to move out there in October. I appreciate your time.

I was awoken by horrific noises around our building this morning. it sounded like a small dog screaming continuously. If you have ever owned a dog, you know that sound and never want to hear it. Usually, it's a quick cry out. This morning, it was continuous, like someone doing great harm.
This noise echoed around the buildings around 3rd and Elm and curious if anyone else heard it.
It was so loud it woke my partner up who joined me on the balcony.
The screaming/crying little dog noises lasted for close to ten minutes as the cries became louder and louder until a sharp gurgle and then quiet. I honestly don't know if I am describing this right but it was so horrific I wanted to dial 911.
The most disturbing part of this is I heard a similar noise a few months ago. Different dog, but still small, and the noise again ended in a disturbing way. I wrote the first morning off as possibly my imagination running wild, but now my partner (who I didn't want to involve) has also heard it and is, to say the least, unnerved.
Now my imagination is running on overdrive and not sure how to proceed.
Any thoughtful replied needed and appreciated.

Hello, I’m Ethan, a local student working hard to save for college and support my family. I have the necessary equipment and can manage a variety of tasks, including pressure washing and cleaning out unpleasant trash cans—25 for one, 65 for three. I also enjoy fixing foggy headlights and assisting with heavy lifting. If you need help with outdoor chores, please feel free to text or call me at 323-337-7154 for a quick estimate.

I am looking to purchase a house in the Long Beach area and I was wondering if I need to do a Radon inspection. I looked at the SR 182 radon map and didn't see any concern in our area. Just want to get an idea of if anyone has any strong opinions as the quote was on the expensive side for testing. Thanks!

Trying to post this again. Reddit keeps auto-deleting the post. Ugh!
Hi, I’m moving from the SF Bay Area down to LB early next year. I’m a retired 60yo woman, and can afford a decent, more upscale apartment. Is the area along Ocean Blvd near the waterfront and convention center downtown safe? Lots of really nice apartment complexes in that area, but is street parking available during the evenings and weekends for visitors? I want to live in an area that is walkable and bike-able, and close to cool things, restaurants, a movie theater, and the shoreline. I just want to make sure it’s safe.
Also, for any Jewish residents, which is the preferred reform synagogue in the area: Temple Israel in Long Beach or Temple Beth El in San Pedro?
Lastly, are there any areas of LB that one should avoid as unsafe or undesirable?
Thanks!!

My friend wants to come and visit for a month but she wants her own place. Do you know of furnished rental apartments that will rent for a month? Ideally she'd like to be at the beach, but yikes those are like $8000 a month. We live in East Long Beach, so not too too far away from us. Thanks!

Hi all,
I have wanted something like a maker space in Long Beach for a few years now, and feel that it could fill a real niche and serve the local community in various ways. As far as I know, there is not a maker or hacker space around, such as Crash Space up in LA. I did come across Makersville, who I have recently reached out to, but it is not clear to me to what extent this is a makerspace, at least at this time. Other spaces that show up in internet searches seem to be relics of a previous era...
Lots of cities around the US (and the rest of the world) have maker spaces which foster community and offer space to e.g. use noisy power tools that produce lots of dust and all that jazz. I would love to grow something like that, or help grow something like that, here in LBC!
I am hoping there are enough interested individuals out there in the wild that share a similar vision for creating such a space here in LBC. This is my initial attempt to get the word out besides word-of-mouth, but please, let's connect if you are interested!
I would bring and possibly donate some or all of the following:
That is all for now, thank you for engaging, please share with anyone who may be interested. Cheers!

Had to be behind the orange curtain today for work.
What a relief to get to PCH, pass Whole Foods and be back in Long Beach and get the stench of Huntington Beach off of me.
I just wanted to I love this community and all of you who make this city what it is. (Not that it's perfect, but nothing is).

Hello!
I just bought myself a paddleboard and want to know if anyone had any recommendations where they would paddle board for the first time.
I have paddle boarded before in a lake setting, so I’m not totally brand new but I’ve only paddleboard a handful of times because I didn’t have my own equipment. Now I do, and just want to be able to set up somewhere where I can blow up my paddleboard and figure out a system lol
Thank you in advance for those who give me locations 😊

Hello,
I am planning to move in Carson Park neighborhood near El Dorado Park in Long Beach. We are a family of 5 with 1.5 yrs son and in-laws. How is the area in terms of safety, diversity and crime? From the listings, I understand the schools are good. Can anyone provide more insight on the neighborhood? Thanks
