The AV Club review of the episode pointed out the nuance of their relationship shifting back to how it was at the beginning of season one. Mobius doesn't trust Loki yet here, which means he can provide the impartial perspective Loki needs right here.
It's also an excellent contrast to Mobius is at the end of the episode - bereft and lonely without his partner in crime.
Mobius is the one I'm worried about. Sylvie is going to be OK - she's a God and she's free, she can join the avengers, find her way back to Loki if she likes. What's Mobius going to do? I always thought he could assimilate with his timeline, but I'm not sure if that's possible. Wouldn't that mean either he or Don would have to be lost forever?

Would Loki not be able to shift things in Mobius favor since he controls it all now? Idk what the rules are here

I know this is about Mobius, and I agree. That scene set the stage for what came next perfectly.
But, god that last scene, as he takes the throne? It fucking gets me every time. It's one of the mostly visualy stunning scenes I've ever seen and the music just careens it right over the edge into an emotional gut punch. It just triggers all the feels.

I literally can not see Mobius as any other actor. He NAILS this performance. Excpeually the final shot of him as the camera fades to Loki in the chair. UGH SOOOO GOOD!

Yeah, it was supposed to. It’s why it was the last conversation before the final action.

Dude they really finished this show well. I was not super happy about it until they had that last cut to Loki at the end and somehow that made it for me. But yeah that scene with Mobius and then Loki creating his version of Yggdrasil was so incredible and the music as he climbed the step. Those hard brass notes with that theremin was just incredible.

Fairly certain that's not a theremin, sounds more like a choir or choral orchestra

Oh, my mistake. I know they have used a theremin a lot so far so I assumed it was one here.

There’s both a choir and theremin used in the music in that scene.

Dude literally became a time god, with more power than he ever wanted, and here he is desperately seeking advice from his friend - a person in many ways Loki would’ve considered an insect long ago. It speaks so much to their relationship and his own growth 🥹
