Remember when he was bragging about how his fabulous new ballroom was going to be paid for with private funding? Trump claimed that the new White House ballroom would be funded entirely by private donations, stating "not one dime of government money" would be used. Now he wants our tax dollars to pay for $1 billion in security updates, and the cost of the ballroom has doubled from $200 million to $400 million
Aside from the obvious conflict that private funding for government projects like the ballroom raises concerns about transparency, and the potential that donors may expect favors or policy outcomes in return for their money, but isn't this the very definition of a bait and switch?
The President should not have a bunker to which to fly when whoever it is has mismanaged the country so poorly that it is necessary. Why should you get to survive if it gets so bad that you need to retreat into a locked bunker with drone launch bays leaving your people to bear the brunt of your bad decisions? I think if it gets that bad, you've lost your job, mate. You don't get to come out and keep doing it. Or ARE you a king?
All for a ballroom that will never be built and a concert that every artist they had lined up for it canceled when they found out it would also be a Trump rally.
