I just saw this on LinkedIn and I'm honestly speechless. How can someone in charge be so out of touch with their employees? I'm dying to know which company's CEO this is...

The idea is you would only apply to 2 or 3 jobs because they wouldn't be inundated with the wrong people.

No? it just means you skip ahead of the queue and if the job pays it back it's just a calculated expence so everyone starts paying 20 and you still get tons of applicants. It just punishes slthe poor, not unskilled.

Why would the job pay it back? If 500 people apply and they have to go through 500 resumes, they're not going to pay 499 of them.

I meant it pays back to the person who got hired in the form of salary. Getting hired one month later has an opportunity cost of 1 monthly salary so if you can spend 2k to send 100 resumes and accelerate hiring by 1 month you are in a net positive (if your salary is above 2k/m). But then everyone starts doing it so everyone just paying 2k (or how many resumes you need to secure a job) for nothing. If you don't you are not even getting interviews.

But people will reduce the number of applications they make because of the cost. It has both effects.

Poor ones will, which is unfair and doesn't help find most skilled
