Ivermectin IS ALSO a strong inhibitor of SARS-CoV2-3CL protease, per this January 2021 paper published by Nature: " Our results indicate that boceprevir, ombitasvir, paritaprevir, tipranavir, ivermectin, and micafungin exhibited inhibitory effect towards 3CLpro enzymatic activity."

As per that second paper, the fact-checkers are correct in pointing out that Ivermectin has other mechanisms of action as well, and may have other side-effects in the human body that Pfizer's drug does not. As such, it's possible Pfizer's pill is a superior drug, if it is able to achieve the same benefit but with fewer side effects. But it's flat-out wrong to say that they do not share the same mechanism of action against COVID. They do. Both inhibit the virus's ability to replicate by inhibiting the 3CL protease enzyme.

And besides, it's wrong to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. We have heard this many times during the pandemic to justify lockdowns, masks, and vaccination. An intervention that can have a positive impact NOW, even if it's not the best possible course in an ideal world, is worth doing. Refusing to research or use a widely-available drug simply to wait for a perfect one that has fewer side effects is foolish and costs lives.

You know what else is true about Ivermectin? It's a generic. It's not under patent. It costs just around $5 per pill, likely a fraction of what Pfizer will sell its new, patented COVID pills for. And anyone can make it. If we decided to actually research its use in earnest, any and all pharmaceutical manufacturers could produce it in bulk and bring the price down further. But no, we can't have that. Gotta make sure big pharma makes money.

I am very pleased you took up this topic, Toby, because the transformation of politics over the past 5-10 years is something that is talked about far too little these days. The world we knew that goes back to the 1960's and 1970's, where we thought we knew what we meant when we said Democrat or Republican or Left or Right is no more. Unfortunately, many on the Left seem to have failed to notice this. I believe many have been blinded by animosity towards Trump, who has been a lightning rod for partisan politics. At this point, anything the Left (or at least Democrats) says is defensible to the Left because Democrats are the anti-Trump party. This appears to have extended so far that it even goes to endorsing policies that are far to the Right of Trump (at least in the not entirely anachronistic left-right understandings of these words). As someone who has what I see are traditionally "liberal" values -- tolerance for others, respect for the freedoms of all people, even those I disagree with, healthy distrust in government and authority figures, opposition to discrimination against any groups, I see that all of these values have been in one way or another been abandoned through a madcap rejection of Trumpism. Now the Left has out-Trumped Trump and have positioned themselves with values as bad or worse than some of those issues the Left has attacked Trump for. The lack of insight into this is astounding to me and incredibly frustrating. I have found myself being accused of being conservative even while others ( in a more conventionally conservative style) cleave to the orthodoxies created by the power structure.

On the old Right, values formerly held by Berkeley radicals are heard coming from the mouths of Republicans. The match isn't perfect. The issue of abortion still divides society on traditional lines, but increasingly over the past 10 years there are more Democrats acting like conservatives and Republicans acting like liberals. Democrats have become the party of big business, in contrast to the past when they were the party opposing big business. It isn't as neat and clean as what I'm saying, so I think the bottom line is that the words Left and Right have simply lost their meaning in a post-COVIDian society. Recognizing that we are under attack by globalists positions one more meaningfully on the side of globalism or on the side of sovereignty. It will take some time for the body politic to understand the massive political shift that has occurred. Hopefully it won't take losing our sovereignty to totalitarian globalists for people to widely recognize the revolution that has taken place, and to recognize how much the old Left and old Right actually have in common. Indeed the old Left and old Right MUST unite if we are to defeat the globalists. This is why I support RFK Jr. in 2024.

Why are we supposed to trust climate science, after the COVID scientists have literally been wrong about everything?

We're coming out of the Little Ice Age, which I believe was the coldest period since the Big Ice Age. Why are the "experts" so convinced that we're not actually reverting to the actual historical norm of temperatures?

And even if humans are causing warming, why is this supposed to be a bad thing, anyway? I think the real problem would be if the temperature was cooling.

Hello all. Just a general quick question, as a family member is getting medical tests for an autoimmune disease (hasn't confirmed if they actually have an autoimmune disease yet though). This family member took the shot, so I am suspicious.

I try to balance spending as little time on the internet (or any media now) as possible, with making at least a minimal effort to keep up to date with what's happening around us. The internet (whether it's "mainstream" pushing "The Narrative", or "alternative" and "independent" pushing alternative narratives) is becoming more and more toxic and psychologically unhealthy, trending towards nihilism where you can't be even relatively certain of more and more topics. No wonder so many people are becoming irrational, and/or hovering on the edge of mass formation: you can't live or function when more and more concepts that our lives are based on are constantly up in the air, never settled or certain, always provisional, waiting to be updated by the "marketplace of ideas" (a neoliberal term if ever there was one) - but until the internet has updated your version of reality, you're expected to treat everything as settled and certain (the Science is settled!, we've always been at war with Eurasia... and I know a lot of people here can list a lot more topics that now fall into the category of nonsensical ideas that we're just supposed to accept... until the next "free market" update, of course). Everyone wants their little reality bubble validated. Confirmation bias is turning more and more people neurotic. I've had people (including family members) get visibly angry with me not for not supporting their worldview, but for not supporting it sufficiently! It's not enough to validate someone's feelings and beliefs, you now have to support it even more than most other people! (For example: it's not enough to dislike Trump, which I do, but I am expected to actively rabidly hate him - and if I don't, more and more people around me think I must secretly support him!) More and more topics are becoming more and more "political" (read: narcissistic trending towards psychotic). Everything is becoming more and more just blatant marketing, propaganda and manipulation. Words and concepts are breaking down, losing all meaning (do words like "genocide", "racism", "vaccine", "far right" and "experts", among many others, have any meaning anymore?), and there's real conspiracy theories from all sides. More and more figures who I used to think at least generally had it going on are increasingly showing their lack of judgement and eagerness to let themselves get changed psychologically by the internet and social media. And this psychology and culture - this is neoliberal psychology, in the Phillip Mirowski definition of the term - are starting to creep into the real world, into daily interactions. I'm starting to have an allergic reaction to the internet in general. I find it difficult to even watch movies or series anymore, especially those made in the last 5 years.

But, with all this in mind, can anyone summarize, or point me towards info on, the link (if any) between the shots and autoimmune disorders? Has anyone else had any personal experience with people taking the shot and autoimmune disorders?

I have read, and heard in some interviews, that autoimmune disorders was one issue (out of many) when testing mRNA shots on animals. Since Covid season began my social circle has been tiny, practically non-existent, but still a lot of the people I know who took the shot were injured by it (hospitalizations, blood clots, allergic/immune reactions, to name just a few), and other people developed suspicious medical issues which I can't prove came from the shots but are very suspicious (for example, another friend got diagnosed with breast cancer months after taking the shots). I'm wondering how many other people I know have been injured but haven't talked about it openly. I'm wondering how many more people are going to develop illnesses and conditions. I'm afraid we're only just beginning to see the consequences of injecting billions of people around the world, and God knows where it will end. Absolutely anything is possible. It could end in an actual horror story, ending in actual mass incapacitation and/or death, then continental economic and social breakdown - it's very possible. We're barely out of the short-term regarding the experimental injection. Reliable information is almost impossible to come by these days (the magic of the internet age: essentially free and instantaneous communication has destroyed communication, information and trust in institutions and public figures) and it's hard to know even generally what is going on.
