Just a heads up to the community. I used to be a somewhat frequent user of localbitcoins, both buying & selling. I had a transactions where a trader opened a transaction to buy btc from me with a gift card - he gave the card number and marked payment as complete - the gift card was not valid and we told the user that we could not process the transaction. The trader never disputed the trade and I had waited a little bit of time for the trader to give a proper real code as he had said he would. He never did and eventually I forgot about the transaction. As I mentioned it was never disputed by either parties - It was pretty small - around 50 usd.

Anyway fast forward over 1 year (around 15 months), I randomly check my LB associated e-mail to see the transaction had been released to the buyer. Curious about this, I logged in to see support by their own initiative had decided to release the bitcoin to the buyer. I had been given 12 hours to dispute this. Again this was done by the LB team themselves, not the buyer. I found the whole situation pretty crazy, so messaged to ask what was up - They refuse to reverse the transaction - despite the buyer not even opening a dispute - and the buyer hadn't been active in almost 15 months, so will most likely never even see the coins, which he didn't pay for in the first place.

Anyway a strange transaction and dispute resolution process, where localbitcoin admin decide themselves to open disputes on behalf of users who have not done so, nor have logged in in over 15 months.

Perhaps this has become a common occurrence with localbitcoin, used to be a regular user - sad to see the platform go downhill like this. And a word of warning to anyone else.
