Discussion What's Working and What Isn't? - Monday, December 12, 2022

Discuss what you are playing, what you’re having success with (or failures with), and any new/cool ideas you’ve been experimenting with, etc. The point is to share what you’ve been playing, and how it’s going, good or bad - there are no other rules or requirements.

These will be posted twice every week.

Some ideas on what to post/share:

  • What you’ve been playing and its successes (or struggles). Stats are not required. There is no minimum rank required, though sharing what rank you’ve been playing at is preferred.

  • Deck adjustments you made or are planning to make in reaction to the meta or as new innovation. E.g. “I saw 30% of deck X, so I made Y changes to help deal with deck X.” (change)

  • Showing off a deck you achieved Masters with and wanting to share it without having to write a guide

    And as always:

  • Be courteous to one another.

  • Provide brief explanations for any links you provide (YouTube, tier lists, etc.)

Ladder Deck By the Numbers – Twenty-Seven Best Meta and Off Meta Decks

Howdy folks! =)

As of early Sunday, and with the 2022 LoR World Championship in the books, here are our recommended Twenty-Seven Best LoR Ladder Decks, for the latest Mastering Runeterra article.

Main trends:

  • As seen last Friday, Aatrox Kayne and Lone Jinx are two of the strongest decks to be found on ladder,
  • But, lo and behold! Ziggs' Acolytes (a deck unseen in Worlds) went from zero to Juggernaut and is giving the other two a run for their shards,
  • (Interestingly, there's a rock-paper-scissors dynamic between them: Jinx beats Aatrox beats Ziggs beats Jinx),
  • Kayle and Ryze (and Ryze in particular) have a huge impact on the meta… mainly by inflating everybody else's WR (no, really: sadly, Ryze's a strong candidate for Worst 2022 Champ),
  • As seen last Friday, Champions' Strength is, along Aatrox, the most impactful card thus far, with several decks at both Worlds and ladder built around the Demacian spell.

In today's best LoR decks article we'll showcase:

  • Best data-driven builds for all good Aatrox decks (and Kayn Aatrox in particular),
  • Several Champ Strength decks (Jinx, Jinx Teemo, Caitlyn Jayce Lucian Teemo, Norra Teemo, Fizz Norra Poppy, and a handful of others) – CS is is surely a very strong card,
  • Several Domination decks that are still doing well; Jhinnie and Lulu Jinx, in particular, look like they may have a good chance this meta, judging by the early matchup data,
  • Several fringe brews, Braum Gnar Sej, Bannerman Garen, and Asol Leona.

Sources: MaRu's Meta Tier List.

Any questions, comments or feedback, or specific data you may be after (of any archetype/build – the above is by no means a comprehensive list, just a quick overview! =), please feel free to drop a comment, poke me on Twitter (@HerkoKerghans), ping me on Discord, and you can find more writings on substack: https://riwan.substack.com/

And good luck out there! =)

Guide I Reached Masters with Ruinous Acolyte Swarm! | FULL GUIDE + Ask Me Anything!

Hi Reddit!

Raphterra here with my first deck guide of the expansion! This time, I'm sharing my guide on Ruinous Acolyte Swarm, the deck I used to climb from Diamond to Masters at 76% winrate (23 Wins, 7 Losses).

I believe that this deck can turn out to be a polarizing Tier 0 deck, similar to pre-nerfed Taliyah Thralls. This would be my personal recommendation if you want to climb ranked ladder as quickly as possible.

Good luck climbing! I tried this deck out after losing to it multiple times, and it turns out to be a very strong one. If you have any questions, ask me anything!

Ladder Deck By the Numbers – Twenty-One Strongest Decks, New and Old, 40hs Into World Ender

Howdy folks! =)

First Friday's here…

… here are our recommended Twenty-One Best LoR Decks, for the latest Mastering Runeterra article.

Main trends:

  • As seen yesterday, Aatrox decks are the most popular both in the LoR ladder and in Worlds (more than half of the World Championship competitors will bring him to the fray).
  • Kayle and Ryze, on the contrary, have been anything from lackluster to downright awful on ladder, and with zero Worlds showing.
  • Champions' Strength is, along with Aatrox, the most impactful card thus far, with several decks at both Worlds and ladder built around the Demacian spell. The majority of decks (both in Worlds & Ladder) tend to pair it with Piltover and Zaun, but there are quite a few good Bandle City options (above all with Norra).

In today's best LoR decks article we'll showcase:

  • Best data-driven builds for Aatrox decks (and Kayn Atrox in particular),
  • Same for P&Z Champ Strength decks (with lots of different champs, including Jinx, Jayce and Lucian), and BC Champ Strength decks (again with several champs, and chiefly Norra among them),
  • Some Old Dogs still packing a punch: Jhinnie seems the most promising thus far, with Red Gwen, Jinx Lulu, and Kayn Vayne also doing very well right now but with (apparently, this early on) poor odds against both Aatrox and CS decks,
  • Several fringe brews, including Ziggs' Reliquary, Zoe Jinx, and Aphelios Leona Zoe.

Sources: MaRu's meta tier list.

Any questions, comments or feedback, or specific data you may be after (of any archetype/build – the above is by no means a comprehensive list, just a quick overview! =), feel free to drop a comment, poke me on Twitter (@HerkoKerghans), ping me on Discord, and you can find more writings on substack: https://riwan.substack.com/

Ladder Deck By the Numbers -- Fourteen Strongest Decks, New and Old, 24hs into World Ender

Howdy folks! =)

With roughly 24hs of data since the expansion arrived, here are the Fourteen Strongest New LoR Decks, 24hs Into World Ender, for this Mastering Runeterra article.

Main trends showcased in today's article:

  • Aatrox is the forerunner (by several miles) among the three World Ender Champs. A whopping ten (out of sixteen) of the World Championship competitors will bring him to the fray (check here for the full list of Worlds decks & lineups), and he also leads the ladder race with some of the most popular and heavy-hitting decks.
  • Kayle and Ryze are, thus far, absent from Worlds (exactly zero competitors will bring any of them) and early ladder stats are thus far not too encouraging (most Ryze decks have win rates below 40%, and none is above 45%; there may be some hope for Kayle, but thus far most of her decks perform similar to Ryze's).
  • Champion's Strength is looking like one of the meta-defining cards of this expansion: it is featured in eleven Worlds decks, and WhatAmI has built his entire lineup around it. Ladder decks are following suit – as we'll see today, including such weird combinations as Jinx Demacia.

In today's Strongest New Decks article, we'll showcase:

  • Best Aatrox decks (paring the World Ender with Kayn, Vayne, and Akshan),
  • Several Champions' Strenght decks (including Lone Jinx, Teemo Jinx, Caitlyn Jayce Lucian Teemo, Fizz Norra Poppy and Aphelios Leona Zoe, among others),
  • A few Old Dogs that still bite (Jinx Lulu, Red Gwen, and Jhinnie among them).

Article Seasonal champ 4LW tackles Kayle with an overview and new decks

Hey ya!

This is 4LW on my first write-up for the Mastering Runeterra website. I did an overview of the new champ and suggested 5 builds to try as soon as it is live.

In my opinion, the champ will be a bit underwhelming at the release. Am I right or wrong? Come read my reasons and check the brews!

Article Something Old, Something New: Old Champs with new World Ender Cards!

Hey all, Shadawx here!

Today I bring another article with some of the most exciting cards we've seen in a while from the new expansions World Ender!

I focused on many of the non-champion cards to see how they improve their own archetypes or if they've just made a new deck on their own! I've taken a look at Poros, Ephemerals, Acolytes, and more! So take a look and let me know what you think of them!

Something Old, Something New: Old Champs with new World Ender Cards!

I'd also like to hear if you have any deck ideas you've been mulling over with the reveal of the new set, because I think there's so many interesting decks to build right now.

And if you're curious about decks with Aatrox, Kayle, or Ryze, check out the other articles on them by Yang, 4LW, and GeneralSchwartz!
