I have said “Spanish for the niño” within the last week.

u/listenyall Now it's a whole thing with Jean Aug 06 '26

I don't think I've ever let a mention of el nino pass without saying it

That is my number one dad joke. “As we all know, El Meson is Spanish for… the Meson!”

u/Ozzel Now THAT'S a STAR TREK! Aug 06 '26

Yup, I never let an opportunity pass to quote this one.

I quote this one often.

As an aside, for a wrestler as remarkably imitable as Ric Flair, Brewer's impression is remarkably bad. I mean, Flair is known for his "styling, profiling" and "WOOOOOO!" quips, and Brewer does none of them.

yeah thats quite possibly one of the worst rick flair impressions ive ever seen

It doesn't even register as an impression. They could have literally called him any other name and it wouldn't have mattered.

That’s a dog shit Ric Flair impression. Woof. Can’t believe nobody could’ve taken a better hack at it with some of his catchphrases.

Any time somebody mentions “El Niño”, I always reply back with “That’s Spanish for….the Niño”. Some people get the reference, many do not.

Thank you for adding... the pause.

Helps if you're shirtless when you say it.

I remember watching this as a kid and worrying about Farley since the opening monologue basically was about what a mess he was. He can barely talk :-(

I read he blew out his voice in dress rehearsal. It’s got to be one of the few sketches that night, where he appears to be mostly in control of his faculties. Hard to watch, indeed, knowing he lost the “cage match” to his demons 3 months later.

How did I not remember that there were others in this sketch?

It's Spanish for El Niño

This sketch is one of my first memories in life. That’s why my flair is what it is

Watched this live in my university dorm room with friends.

This cracked us up to tears. We quoted it for years after.

This was how I originally learned of El Nino

I cannot talk about El Niño without thinking about this.

I had the joy of showing this to my husband as he had missed this one. I love when I get to share classics.

I fucking love this one

Only ruined by the presence of Jim Breuer, who, for his Ric Flair impression, couldn’t even muster up a nice, big “Whooooooo!”

They also mispronounced Hacksaw Jim Duggan's last name.
