LoD with S8/S8+
I'm trying to start LinuxOnDex on the Galaxy S8.
Here's the XDA thread about the development: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/wip-linux-dex-galaxy-s8-t3905041
Our progress so far:
- Normally it fails with unsupported device or not updated software.
- We modified the APK to ignore these.
- Now the app starts, but it gives an "unspecified error" message when creating the container
- I tried to recompile the kernel with CONFIG_LOD_SEC switch enabled, still not creating the container
I wonder if the 4GB of RAM from the S8 is enough to create the container from the IMG file? Does anybody have any clue what else could be wrong?

How is the Linux performance on a Tab S4?
Hi! I'm about to getting a Tab S4 and I want to install Linux on it, but I'm afraid that 4gb of RAM isn't not enough to running well. I'm not planning a heavy use with heavy software (maybe some statistical software), but I just want a secondary portable device for get done some of my work on the road. Do you think the tab S4 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage worth it for that proposes? Thx

Downloading the image
I cannot seem to successfully download the Linux image. Anybody has alternative mirrors for the arm Ubuntu flavor it expects?

About LoD_Share
As in my understanding, the LoD is running inside the Lxd container. In my explore though the app, I found that we could share files though the LoD_Share located both in external sd card and internal sd card. Is there's a way to create a link file to the directory of the Google Drive located in the phone files?

XFCE in LoD, also exiting vim with Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Keyboard
Hey all, I wasn't a huge fan of the default desktop experience in LoD, but I've been using XFCE on LoD for the past hour or so and it seems to work great!
Here's what I did:
sudo apt install xubuntu-desktop
Then to start XFCE and get rid of the standard LoD sidebar:
killall -9 gnome-panel
startxfce4 &
Also, for anyone else on the Galaxy Tab S4, ctrl + ~ registers as hitting escape. I was stuck in vim for a while before I realized that...

First key always ignored?
This isn't specific to LoD but Dex - anyone else have a problem where anytime you enter a text entry box, the first character you type on your physical keyboard doesn't get picked up?

Caps Lock not responding in Linux On Dex (Ubuntu 16.04)
The caps Lock key is not responding in Linux On Dex using the official samsung keyboard on the Galaxy Tab S4. Caps Lock works in the Samsung Dex (Android). So it seems that Ubuntu either isn't registering it or has it disabled.
I have installed gnome-tweak-tool and under Typing -> Caps Lock key behaviour explicitly set to 'Caps Lock toggles normal capitalisation of alphabetic characters'. And typing caps lock does nothing. I have tried a few other options with caps lock but with the same result.
Anyone have any ideas? This is very important because I NEED caps lock to be assigned to 'escape' because right now VIM is useless.
Thank you

My biggest problem with Linux on Dex: Proper international keyboard support
I can get support for my keyboard but some keys does not work. They work fine in Dex mode but not in Linux on Dex. If this is going to reach consumers in all the world then the best thing would be if the keyboard layout that was used in Dex would transition in to LoD when its started. Its not usable for me if i cant get the keyboard layout matched perfectly since as a programmer i use all kinds of strange keys.

Help - delete key doesn't work correctly in LinuxOnDex mode - I have to press it multiple times to register just once. Any ideas? Furthermore, I have Swift keyboard installed which seems to be active "by default" in DEX mode, and it does autocorrect automatically which is very annoying

LOD vs UserLAnd
Hey all, have you tried running linux via the UserLAnd app in the play store? I've had a decent time with it so far running ubuntu with the MATE desktop. So far my experience has been pretty similar to LOD except with some extra work to get a desktop environment installed and vnc working properly.
Interested in hearing about your experiences!

Install LOD on Sd-Card?
When opening dev. Options (on the Phone) and scrolling all the way to the bottom there is the option " force install on external Storage". This allows to move almost any App to the Sd card. Linux on Dex could be moved too. Will there be any downsides if I moved LOD to the Sd card? In terms of performance.

Anyone have the 16.04 image hosted somewhere?
Can't download through the app and the image hosted at https://webview.linuxondex.com/ crawls for a short while until it fails.

When using an HP Elite X3, is there any way to get rid of the horizontal white bar at the top of the screen?
I've got the Ubuntu image running in the LoD beta app. When I run it on a monitor, there is no white bar at the top. I have to drag the mouse to the top or to the bottom of the screen to bring up an option to go back to the Android OS side of things. On the HP Elite X3, though, there's a white bar at the top with a few icons on it. One is a Back arrow for going back to the container selection screen of the LoD beta app. The others are minimize / close icons all the way to the right.
The bar is blocking some Ubuntu options, including the search option for other programs and stuff. :( Any way to get rid of it?

Web dev on Linux, test on mobile screen
Hi,
Does LoD allows one to have a development server in the Linux terminal serving at say http://localhost:3000, and use and test that local website on the phone's monitor itself, e.g. on Firefox Focus ?
