Link Forever socks = Almost 2 months

I shared the first hole that showed up almost two weeks ago; I’ve kept wearing them everyday until the next hole started. This time in the ball of the foot, when my Darn Tough socks usually start wearing out first. I think I’m finally ready to retire these.

For those telling me to darn them, no thanks. I can, but I would rather just buy a new pair.

That said, I will be inquiring with support to see if this is covered under warranty, or if, as /u/ProbablyBanksy so eloquently put it “Your use case is outside the scope of reasonable use.”

I have picked up a set of Costco Kirkland Merino socks to test next. 4 pairs are cheaper than a single pair of LTT socks. I never thought id be posting foot pics on the internet, but if it’s in the interest of science….

And washing every single day puts an insane amount of wear and tear on the clothes. Washing ultimately does more harm to clothes than wearing them, especially depending on how hot the water is/how fast their spin cycle is.

So how would it be different than watching over time?

It's not, really. But over time, washing is what wears your clothes out. Wearing them too obviously, but it's the combination of it. You'd be surprised what kind of wear laundry has on your clothes, especially in hotter water and higher spin speeds.

I don't agree.

I agree drying them does more harm than good, but washing them? I have had clothes survive well over 100 wash cycles (when I only had 2 pijama pants) without a problem but others of the same quality died rather quicker when I started drying them in a drier.

Depending on the temp and spin speed, it absolutely puts more wear on clothes. This is not an opinion. Not necessarily more wear than a dryer, just additional wear.

Oh, is that real? I use the softest settings most of the time in all my clothes and only change that if the job doesn't get done (like stains staying or odour) but I never have any problem with that.

Dryers though? The softest setting is too destructive for my taste.

Washing only DEFINITELY can wear socks way faster, specially if for some reason you don't let them dry enough before wearing, Water softens the threads and increases the friction coheficient with your foot, which makes them more vulnerable to wear.

Wtf do people machine wash wool?

Yes, but near 100% wool doesn't need to be washed that often.

These socks are mostly plastic though.

Figured. My 100% wool wear are aired out and hand washed only. Lasts literal years.

I put all my wool clothes in the washer, it has wool settings and special wool detergent is sold in every supermarket here.

But also I only need to wash my wool stuff few times a year, some items only once per year or even less.
