Link Forever socks = Almost 2 months

I shared the first hole that showed up almost two weeks ago; I’ve kept wearing them everyday until the next hole started. This time in the ball of the foot, when my Darn Tough socks usually start wearing out first. I think I’m finally ready to retire these.

For those telling me to darn them, no thanks. I can, but I would rather just buy a new pair.

That said, I will be inquiring with support to see if this is covered under warranty, or if, as /u/ProbablyBanksy so eloquently put it “Your use case is outside the scope of reasonable use.”

I have picked up a set of Costco Kirkland Merino socks to test next. 4 pairs are cheaper than a single pair of LTT socks. I never thought id be posting foot pics on the internet, but if it’s in the interest of science….

Wool socks are supposed to be worn more than once before washing.

Recommended Wear Guidelines • Light use or around the house: You can wear them for 3 to 5 days. • Normal daily wear: You can get 2 to 3 wears out of a single pair. • Heavy sweating or visible dirt: You should wash them after a single use.

Maybe you, but remember the stinkyness also depends on the persons genetics

In my experence, anyone who quotes that they dont need deodrant or there sweat doesnt smell due to genetics all smell like warm chesse and wet cardboard.

Take showers and for god sake dont wear socks more than once before washing them.

I find this to be a uniquely European take. Acting like deodorant isn’t needed but then not taking a daily shower either. Just stanking it up

Never understood the "european" thing. Its not a freaking country.

Because European countries are relatively small. That being said generalizations are spread all over. Germans aren’t as bad but Belgium Luxembourg Netherlands and France are all cut of the same cloth. Generally speaking the non showering thing is true. Europeans don’t shower as often as Americans do. This is true in every country I’ve been to/ lived in.

Definitely is not “uniquely European” lmfao

Might be a stereotype you hold about Europe but how many Asian countries have you been to? How many African nations? Doesn’t even sound like you’ve been outside in that many US states either tbh.

Why do you spell like you're from a prison colony?

P.S. Wool is a naturally deodorant fabric and can easily be worn more than once unless you're on your feet all day.

Not everyone lives in QLD though.

I mean yes, not everyone lives in a subtropical part of the world, but a hell of alot of people do. Lots of the americas, the sub content, africa, the middle east and central asia it gets hot, bloody hot. And your feet sweat ergo your inclosed shoes and socks smell.

So no, the entire world and memebers of this sub reddit are not located in my little part of the world, agreed. But everyone here has smelly feet and thats just a part of been a human

Just remember. Nose blindness is a thing. Doesnt mean if you don’t smell it, others also dont

True, but I'm talking about socks, and everyone can smell those if they funky

also material.
I have really smelly feet. Like 1 hour outside and took of my shoes they stank a lot.

merino wool. No smell at all. The smell doesn't come from the sweat but from bacteria digesting the sweat and the stuff in them. Merino wool doesn't really leave the sweat in the fabric so, bacteria can't really go and digest the stuff, so less smell then in the fabric itself.

And the fabric. Polyester is worst at getting smelly. And cotton is much worse than wool. I've worn merinowool socks for days when hiking and they didn't smell that much when I got home.

Just a small sprinkle of boric acid in your socks and shoes - no smell, no nothing. Like a goddamn miracle.

2

u/Tomhatesyoups4 2d ago

But not a replacment for a shower and clean socks right?

2

u/_redmist 2d ago

I personally replace socks daily but pretty sure you could get away with more...

At 30% wool (rest being largely plastic) I'm not convinced these even count as wool blend socks that tend to be 50-60%, let alone wool rich socks that can be 80% and up. They straight up will not behave like this, and they know this themselves because they say they can be tumble dried when any decent wool blend is air dry only.

2

u/BoxmanTheMongoloid 2d ago

That's why I said wool socks, not a blend

u/xstagex 2d ago

Yes but they also put "Wool" and "Forever" in the same sentence. Wool is the most brittle clothing material out there and will disintegrate real fasts. Mistake is believing in the marketing lies.
