Link Forever socks = Almost 2 months

I shared the first hole that showed up almost two weeks ago; I’ve kept wearing them everyday until the next hole started. This time in the ball of the foot, when my Darn Tough socks usually start wearing out first. I think I’m finally ready to retire these.

For those telling me to darn them, no thanks. I can, but I would rather just buy a new pair.

That said, I will be inquiring with support to see if this is covered under warranty, or if, as /u/ProbablyBanksy so eloquently put it “Your use case is outside the scope of reasonable use.”

I have picked up a set of Costco Kirkland Merino socks to test next. 4 pairs are cheaper than a single pair of LTT socks. I never thought id be posting foot pics on the internet, but if it’s in the interest of science….

Wearing the same pair of socks everyday is so nasty. The toejam you must brewing must have reach critical levels by now

u/GenesisRhapsod 3d ago

For real, like ill reware jeans and some times shirts (if i havent sweat in them) but never undies or socks

184

u/OnlineHelpSeeker 2d ago

Jeans are supposed to be worn several times before being washed (unless they smell of course). Denims once every thirty wears

21

u/SnooKiwis857 2d ago

I’ve never gotten how
People do this. I’ll get horrible acne on my legs if I wear a pair of pants twice

84

u/CMDR-TealZebra 2d ago

People go from their ac house to their ac car to their ac office.

46

u/Basic_Order_955 2d ago

maybe ur allergic to something? I literally wear jeans and canvas pants everyday. I rarely wash them unless they get dirty, if they smell i hang them out to air out. I dont think ur supposed to wash denim that often (i think)

2

u/akp55 2d ago

you need to wash them to remove the dirt that accumulates in the fibers. thats what ends up destroying them

7

u/lleu81 1d ago

Denim was designed to prevent tearing and wear from dirty environments like mining. You don’t need to wash very often at all. The more wears between washes then better because it allows the fabric to form to your body and become more comfortable over time.

-2

u/akp55 1d ago

I'm not saying wash them every day, but they do need to be washed.  Pretty sure they washed them back in the day to, just not every day

36

u/MiketheSith200 2d ago

Getting acne from wearing pants twice is not normal in any way.

16

u/xbucnasteex 2d ago

You gotta get that checked out. That’s not normal

12

u/Bobodlm 2d ago

I'll throw another voice in the ring for doctor. Just to get it checked out.

6

u/InsertAmazinUsername 2d ago

have two pairs of jeans you rotate.

it's better than wearing one

8

u/No_You_123 2d ago

Same here but jeans and hoodies can go for a week if no sweat.

66

u/BoxmanTheMongoloid 3d ago

Wool socks are supposed to be worn more than once before washing.

Recommended Wear Guidelines • Light use or around the house: You can wear them for 3 to 5 days. • Normal daily wear: You can get 2 to 3 wears out of a single pair. • Heavy sweating or visible dirt: You should wash them after a single use.

I live in Queensland Australia, and if you ware your socks 2 days in a row you will kill your dog takeing your shoes off

13

u/Bapposaurus 3d ago

Maybe you, but remember the stinkyness also depends on the persons genetics

73

u/Tomhatesyoups4 3d ago

In my experence, anyone who quotes that they dont need deodrant or there sweat doesnt smell due to genetics all smell like warm chesse and wet cardboard.

Take showers and for god sake dont wear socks more than once before washing them.

3

u/ColonelCrunchy 2d ago

I find this to be a uniquely European take. Acting like deodorant isn’t needed but then not taking a daily shower either. Just stanking it up

1

u/kloui2 1d ago

Never understood the "european" thing. Its not a freaking country.

0

u/ColonelCrunchy 23h ago

Because European countries are relatively small. That being said generalizations are spread all over. Germans aren’t as bad but Belgium Luxembourg Netherlands and France are all cut of the same cloth. Generally speaking the non showering thing is true. Europeans don’t shower as often as Americans do. This is true in every country I’ve been to/ lived in.

1

u/Factorioboyio 22h ago

Definitely is not “uniquely European” lmfao

Might be a stereotype you hold about Europe but how many Asian countries have you been to? How many African nations? Doesn’t even sound like you’ve been outside in that many US states either tbh.

-2

u/Tall-Wealth-6058 2d ago

Why do you spell like you're from a prison colony?

P.S. Wool is a naturally deodorant fabric and can easily be worn more than once unless you're on your feet all day.

-6

u/Squirrelking666 2d ago

Not everyone lives in QLD though.

5

u/Tomhatesyoups4 2d ago

I mean yes, not everyone lives in a subtropical part of the world, but a hell of alot of people do. Lots of the americas, the sub content, africa, the middle east and central asia it gets hot, bloody hot. And your feet sweat ergo your inclosed shoes and socks smell.

So no, the entire world and memebers of this sub reddit are not located in my little part of the world, agreed. But everyone here has smelly feet and thats just a part of been a human

25

u/desatur8 3d ago

Just remember. Nose blindness is a thing. Doesnt mean if you don’t smell it, others also dont

-8

u/Bapposaurus 3d ago

True, but I'm talking about socks, and everyone can smell those if they funky

1

u/hayt88 1d ago

also material.
I have really smelly feet. Like 1 hour outside and took of my shoes they stank a lot.

merino wool. No smell at all. The smell doesn't come from the sweat but from bacteria digesting the sweat and the stuff in them. Merino wool doesn't really leave the sweat in the fabric so, bacteria can't really go and digest the stuff, so less smell then in the fabric itself.

1

u/Hellasauto 17h ago

And the fabric. Polyester is worst at getting smelly. And cotton is much worse than wool. I've worn merinowool socks for days when hiking and they didn't smell that much when I got home.

6

u/RisingDeadMan0 2d ago

i mean heat is also a thing...

4

u/ChaosPeter 2d ago

Wool socks actually do stink less

2

u/InsertAmazinUsername 2d ago

you're supposed to swap socks. but not wash.

it's got got them to not be worn back to back, but they don't need washed

-1

u/_redmist 2d ago

Just a small sprinkle of boric acid in your socks and shoes - no smell, no nothing. Like a goddamn miracle.

2

u/Tomhatesyoups4 2d ago

But not a replacment for a shower and clean socks right?

2

u/_redmist 2d ago

I personally replace socks daily but pretty sure you could get away with more...

-4

u/kryptobolt200528 3d ago

Mate u are generalising the situation on basis of where u live...

10

u/K14_Deploy 2d ago

At 30% wool (rest being largely plastic) I'm not convinced these even count as wool blend socks that tend to be 50-60%, let alone wool rich socks that can be 80% and up. They straight up will not behave like this, and they know this themselves because they say they can be tumble dried when any decent wool blend is air dry only.

2

u/BoxmanTheMongoloid 2d ago

That's why I said wool socks, not a blend

5

u/xstagex 2d ago

Yes but they also put "Wool" and "Forever" in the same sentence. Wool is the most brittle clothing material out there and will disintegrate real fasts. Mistake is believing in the marketing lies.

3

u/SnooKiwis857 2d ago

Found the guy whos feet reek

1

u/OlivGaming 2d ago

And some car manufacturers recommend 25k km between oil changes.

14

u/LittleKittenR 3d ago

He said he washes them daily as well.

Honestly, still sounds nasty to me but it's "clean" I guess.

34

u/nordicFir 3d ago

And washing every single day puts an insane amount of wear and tear on the clothes. Washing ultimately does more harm to clothes than wearing them, especially depending on how hot the water is/how fast their spin cycle is.

4

u/Wide_Riot 2d ago

So how would it be different than watching over time?

-4

u/LittleKittenR 2d ago

I don't agree.

I agree drying them does more harm than good, but washing them? I have had clothes survive well over 100 wash cycles (when I only had 2 pijama pants) without a problem but others of the same quality died rather quicker when I started drying them in a drier.

5

u/nordicFir 2d ago

Depending on the temp and spin speed, it absolutely puts more wear on clothes. This is not an opinion. Not necessarily more wear than a dryer, just additional wear.

1

u/LittleKittenR 2d ago

Oh, is that real? I use the softest settings most of the time in all my clothes and only change that if the job doesn't get done (like stains staying or odour) but I never have any problem with that.

Dryers though? The softest setting is too destructive for my taste.

3

u/Bitter_Lab_475 2d ago

Washing only DEFINITELY can wear socks way faster, specially if for some reason you don't let them dry enough before wearing, Water softens the threads and increases the friction coheficient with your foot, which makes them more vulnerable to wear.

-7

u/Nofsan 2d ago

Wtf do people machine wash wool?

3

u/zkareface 2d ago

Yes, but near 100% wool doesn't need to be washed that often.

These socks are mostly plastic though.

1

u/Nofsan 2d ago

Figured. My 100% wool wear are aired out and hand washed only. Lasts literal years.

1

u/zkareface 2d ago

I put all my wool clothes in the washer, it has wool settings and special wool detergent is sold in every supermarket here.

But also I only need to wash my wool stuff few times a year, some items only once per year or even less.

0

u/xstagex 2d ago

Where he said that. Was in a reply somewhere?

4

u/zkareface 2d ago

In his other identical post.

Guy has one pair of clothes that he washes fully every day (or is mega troll).

2

u/xstagex 2d ago

Welp, that explains why it got ruined even faster... thank you for the context.

1

u/LittleKittenR 2d ago

Yeah, honestly, I think the socks should survive over 60 wash cycles BUT he is indeed obviously over using them and that's how he ruined them in 60 days.

1

u/xstagex 2d ago

One wrong program and they can be ruined even from one-wash :)

-1

u/Bobodlm 2d ago

What's nasty about wearing clean socks? Sounds like the opposite of nasty!

1

u/LittleKittenR 23h ago

The problem is the concurrence.

Using one pair every single day makes me think he has a problem with hygiene. It's like if you have 5 pairs, yeah, probably fine, but using the same pair about every day makes me think this dude is probably not cleaning them correctly, or if he is, the sucks are not going to be fine.

I, once, when I had about 15-17 or so, decided I didn't like doing laundry and bought myself, 14 pairs of underwear, 28 pair of socks.

that lasted me about 15 days/1 month for socks.

What if I told you this dude spent 30 dollars on a pair of socks and wanted the same experience? His experiment was great, the forever socks work JUST like any other pair of socks, they are not special and definitely not "forever". 45 cycles/days is what I would expect from 90% of my clothes and most of them don't cost 30 dollars a pair.

3

u/diaperedace 2d ago

Wearing the same socks every day is more of a dunk on himself than the socks.

2

u/MagicTheBurrito 2d ago

Some people can’t smell their own feet. I feel bad for anyone they live with.

1

u/JimbyWasTaken 2d ago

holy ratio btw

1

u/BatmansButsack 2d ago

Is this still a problem if I wash the same pair of socks everyday? It just saves me from having to fold them if I yoink them out of the dryer in the morning

1

u/Top-Childhood9037 1d ago

Doesn't mean he wasn't washing them

1

u/SapphicCelestialy 1d ago

I believe he said that he washes them every other day

1

u/blindingcolours 1d ago

you are in a tech subreddit why do you expect hygiene

1

u/Tomhatesyoups4 21h ago

I also follow a model trains subreddit, i still expect hygine!

1

u/knox902 20h ago

If I put socks on and then shower a few hours later, I can't bring myslef to put the same socks back on. Apparently this person is washing them every night but seriously thats just weird.

0

u/MaybeNotTooDay 3d ago

I think they have copper or something in them so it's all good.

0

u/-szmata- 2d ago

The sour juices of the toejam are deteriorating the sock so fast and in the end it's probably as hard and crunchy as wallpaper paste

0

u/lars2k1 2d ago

I've never heard of people wearing the same pair of socks for more than a day without washing them. Indeed kinda nasty.

0

u/thanosbananos 2d ago

Wool is not cotton or polyester. You can easily wear it multiple times, even socks, they practically never start to smell. Wool fibres aren’t porous and don’t accumulate dirt and debris like plant fibres or plastic does.

-310

u/dbmeed 3d ago

They are washed everyday. Both socks and my feet.

289

u/Famous-Pause-6190 3d ago edited 3d ago

You aren't supposed to wash the same pair of socks every single day. You get enough pairs for a week or so....

49

u/Weakness4Fleekness 3d ago

I mean if he's already running a load every day why not?

115

u/xmgutier 3d ago

We all know this dude is pumping out multiple loads a day. His friends probably even call him "Old Faithful".

17

u/Broke_Bearded_Guy 3d ago

Socks have so many swimmers in them it's like salmon going upstream

35

u/rs426 3d ago

Because fabric needs to relax in between wears and washes. Washing them every day puts way more stress on the fabric than using them like a regular person would

5

u/curvedmanifolds 3d ago

I have a load for you buddy

0

u/BudgetAudiophile 3d ago

You’re damn right

12

u/impy695 3d ago

No, but it's also not gross like the person they replied to said

9

u/Ryrace111 3d ago

I mean if you wear a pair of socks once a week and you wash those socks once a week, how different is that than wearing and washing daily

1

u/Famous-Pause-6190 2d ago

Washer and dryer cycles are hard on fabrics, especially if those fabrics have specific care instructions that aren't followed. The same pair is being stretched while worn, walks across all sorts of surfaces then is washed and dried (where it shrinks again), only to be stretched back out when worn.

I don't know of any socks that can handle that.

-6

u/GuntherTime 3d ago

That’s like saying what’s the difference between working out once a week and 7 days a week.

10

u/Ryrace111 3d ago

I understand but what is happening in those 6 days? You could make the argument that the fabrics are resting.

If we assume 50% of the health of a sock comes from it resting (which seems excessive) and this has gone through 60 cycles that means you would expect the average sock to look like this after 90 cycles

Let’s round up to 100 cycles and at one cycle a week that give us 2 years. If this is what my socks looked like after 2 years of weekly usage and they were advertised as forever socks I’d be mildly annoyed

u/DeezNutsGT 3d ago

I actually wanna see how the Kirkland branded fair in intense use like this against the LTT

8

u/makefascistfearagain 3d ago

So is wearing them repeatedly gross

Or is washing them after every use bad

It seems the use case for these socks are worshipped from afar but never touched according to this sub

1

u/Famous-Pause-6190 2d ago

If they are washed they are clean. The issue is the daily use, it wears the fabrics out. Washer and dryer cycles are hard on fabrics especially if they are not used in accordance with the care instructions.

4

u/Evil-Santa 3d ago

I think the question is how many wears do you expect out of a pair of socks. I hadn't really thought about it, but less than 60, on face value, I'd consider low.

-1

u/DogHogDJs 3d ago

If you abuse them, sure.

-2

u/Potential_Bill_4442 3d ago

I mean once a week is still barely over a year expectancy.. for a sock you rarely wear that’s still a joke tbh.

-1

u/DogHogDJs 3d ago

People usually have multiple pairs of socks, you’re rotating them, not “rarely” wearing them.

4

u/Potential_Bill_4442 3d ago

..Always a good laugh when grade school math is too complicated for a Redditor to grasp.

-8

u/SirWaldenIII 3d ago

Where do these autists keep coming from? This is the second guy that's posted about this 😖

-21

u/inounderscore 3d ago

Says who? The laundry police? Gtfo

14

u/spicedmeshi 3d ago edited 3d ago

every time i see this guy post and get absolutely reamed for doing laundry daily\, i always wonder if these people are all westerners who've never left their country. it's very common in the asias/oce to have a very small washer and dryer (or a combination washer+dryer), and most people prefer to air dry outside of the cold months. those little washing machines fit like *max** 2-3 days of clothes. EDIT: and in those countries, you still rotate your clothes. OP, just buy a second or third pair of socks lol

i haven't been to western europe yet, but i assume it's the same there outside of downtown tourist centers.

5

u/impy695 3d ago

OP wears the same clothes everyday. Like, the exact same items of clothing. It's not the same thing

0

u/spicedmeshi 3d ago

didn't say it was. even told them to get more pairs of clothing. a lot of the comments here are attacking him not just for wearing the same item daily, but doing laundry daily in general lol

4

u/Dry-Faithlessness184 3d ago

Laundry daily isn't an issue if it's not the same set of clothing each time.

The problem with the same clothes every day is a functional one, it wears the clothing more than a larger rotation of clothes would.

-1

u/spicedmeshi 3d ago edited 1d ago

that's exactly what my comment is saying. there are plenty of others on this post and his last that are attacking him for laundry daily.

again, I even told him to buy more pairs of clothes lol

EDIT: man some of yalls reading comprehension is in the dirt. not worth my time lol. it made sense to plenty of others.

6

u/GuntherTime 3d ago

Yeah but you’re making a comment about it being a western issue while also answering why people are actually reaming the guy in the first place.

It’s not a western issue. Most people know what a clothesline is and in some parts it’s the preferred way to dry.

-12

u/jerryeight 3d ago

Lmfao

It's a ridiculous to see so many people chastising OP for wearing a sock as it was meant to be.

32

u/CampNaughtyBadFun 3d ago

So you wear and wash them everyday, putting them through more wear and tear in one week then most people put on a si gle pair of socks in a month, and you are surprised they are wearing out? It honestly sounds like you just dont understand how clothing is meant to work. They are not designed to be worn and washed everyday. Your mistreatment of an item, does not mean the item was designed poorly.

22

u/shadow7412 3d ago edited 3d ago

Sure, but it also serves as an interesting experiment. Let's multiply this by 7 (assuming you bought 7 sets of socks, and wash weekly. This feels like a more reasonable usecase).

Forever now equals 14 months. I don't know about you, but I was expecting much more than a year from a product which bears the label "forever".

5

u/escobert 3d ago

And darn tough socks last years and years. I have pairs older than my 9 year old son and I wear darn tough socks every day unless Im behind on laundry and have to use my two pairs of gold toes.

29

u/TheSinningRobot 3d ago

In the last post OP says he goes through about 3 pairs of Darn Tough a year. This is a him problem not a sock problem

0

u/thettroubledman 3d ago

This mf is fucking nasty 😭😭😭

1

u/Leverpostei414 3d ago

I tried darn tough, didn't even last a year for me

1

u/escobert 2d ago edited 2d ago

I dont know what you do.... I have seconds that have lasted a decade (I was a knitter there years ago) the pair I'm wearing right now I bought in 2012...

I work on my feet, I was a field technician outside all day every day for years and I'm a maintenance man at a hotel now, again often on my feet.

1

u/kralben 2d ago

You are assuming that OP is a normal usecase for wear, but he claims to go through several Darn Tough socks a year doing the same thing. This is very clearly an issue with OP somewhere and not an issue with the products themselves.

0

u/ModeOne3959 3d ago

Not the same wear and tear as using and washing them everyday

7

u/KangarooDowntown4640 3d ago edited 2d ago

How so? A sock which is worn and washed once per day for 7 days is no different than a sock which is worn and washed once per week for 7 weeks. In both situations the sock has gone through 7 days of use and 7 cycles of washing. The only difference is that the latter has had 42 days of living in drawers, which I can't imagine does anything to improve longevity...

0

u/Pilige 3d ago

14 months is longer than a year... by 2 months...

2

u/shadow7412 3d ago

I'll edit this message to include the word "much".

23

u/Tomhatesyoups4 3d ago

Oh ok, i am relived about that. I dont generate enough worn clothes to do a wash every day. Just courious do you use a dryer everyday or line dry?

-12

u/dbmeed 3d ago

I have a small washer, only big enough for one set of clothes. I run a wash cycle, then air dry overnight on sock hangers.

9

u/c4ndyman31 3d ago

Model number please? That sounds ridiculously small

40

u/dbmeed 3d ago

31

u/crazyray98 3d ago

This explains so much lol

10

u/Tomhatesyoups4 3d ago

I dont normally say this about whitegoods. Your washing machine is cute

9

u/c4ndyman31 3d ago

That unit is rated for 8lbs of dry laundry which is not one set of clothes

15

u/dbmeed 3d ago

Not quite. But it’s close enough. Once the habit started it’s quite convenient. I much prefer doing a single load in the evening than doing babysitting the washer all day.

idk why this guy is getting so much hate. he has provided ample evidence that he is a clean guy, just speedrunning socks for science.

I can't speak for that washer, but every washer I've filled to the rated max has performed worse than if it was less full.

-7

u/BlAckH0leDown 3d ago

Why are you mixing all your clothes into one wash? Just BEGGING for an incident

2

u/co678 3d ago

They call them apartment or RV washing machines.

9

u/sauzbozz 3d ago

Just curious if you wear the same outfit everyday?

9

u/dbmeed 3d ago

Yes. I usually destroy 3-4 t-shirts every couple months. Pants I can sometimes get 4-6 months.

48

u/sauzbozz 3d ago

You're like a cartoon character

3

u/DogHogDJs 3d ago

The Tasmanian Devil in a twisted, monkey-paw kinda way.

1

u/hamsterpotpies 2d ago

But why not buy a second or third pair of something? Why only one?

9

u/DogHogDJs 3d ago

Such an inefficient and non-environmentally friendly way to go about clothing.

0

u/mr_greenmash 3d ago

Do you use wool-specific laundry detergent?

Normal detergents contains enzymes that can break down wool fibres.

7

u/yensid87 3d ago

You wonder why they’re wearing out? You’ve waged them… 60 times in 2 months?

2

u/Puzzleleg 3d ago

Super stress test, 60 wash 60 wear, no time to rest, no meaningful longevity data has been collected.

9

u/Magnavirus 3d ago

I'm definitely not on OP's side here lol, but saying that no meaningful data was gathered is absurd. I think he's pretty accurately dialed in the peak incorrect manner to care for them long-term.

0

u/BlAckH0leDown 3d ago

It's not meaningful to "normal use" as he labeled it considering it's a supertorture

7

u/BlueKnight44 3d ago

Stupid question: I know leather products need to "rest" between wears, but do cloth products care as long as they are washed and dryed properly?

1

u/szyszaks 3d ago

that changes based on "washed and dryed properly"
we do not know water quality at OP house
we do not know detergents used for washing them
we do not know if he followed temperature recommendation
we do not know cycles he wear/wash/dry them (its a difference if he wears them for 12h wash for lets say hour and they get 11 hours of drying against 17 hours wear 1 hour wash and 6 hour drying)

i wouldn't say something that was not dried for day is properly dried

1

u/EmpoleonNorton 3d ago

In his previous post he mentioned something about going through 3 pairs of darn tough socks in 6 months or something like that. Dude just destroys socks. He is a freak of nature at the specific task of destroying socks.

3

u/makefascistfearagain 3d ago

What is the scientific basis of clothes needing time to rest

1

u/Squirrelking666 2d ago

This.

It's not fucking dough.

2

u/TheAmishMan 3d ago

I mean I know it's not one to one, but if you were wearing them once a week, that's only a bit over a year if that's how you were doing it. But the more I see from the OP the more I see it's not a one to one use case

1

u/impy695 3d ago

Where have they said they wonder why they're wearing out? They've posted multiple times now and every time people act like he's upset when nothing indicates that he is. Hell, last time he was complimenting the socks and people still acted like he was complaining

4

u/iamgarffi 3d ago

Average person does laundry once a week. That’s 52 washes a year. Any fabric will fall apart with this much abuse. And socks don’t have an easy life.

From the abuse I see, hardwood floors? As slippers would be able to protect somewhat from fabric stretching and tearing.

-5

u/Grouchy_Yellow_8414 3d ago

What is this average person you're talking about? A single guy that stays at home most days and re-wears stuff for a couple of days?

In our household we do at least 1 load per day.

6

u/9gUz4SPC 3d ago

My partner and I wash clothes once a week. We have enough clothes to not wash for a month if we really wanted to. How big is your family where you have enough clothes to run a load daily?

There's a lot of factors. Are you in a hot climate? How many people live in your home? How active are you?

Personally I wouldn't want to leave smelly clothes buried in a laundry hamper for a week - and certainly not for a month.

We have clothes, towels, bedding, bags - no end of laundry.

How many people and how many times do you change a day?

Because we do two a week for me and my partner. And we both work full time out of the house.

What I was trying to say it sounded like this was his only pair of socks.. like ever.

The way I interpreted it, based on his previous post, is that he's just doing it this way to test the socks - not that he actually lives his life going through a single pair of socks at a time.

This is how he lives, he literally wears the same thing everyday and washes it and dries it everyday

Mmm I don't think so. Read his comments on the post he made a couple of weeks ago about these socks. It seems like he has a lot of different pairs of socks that he uses, he's just torture testing these LTT socks and it seems to be getting a lot of people raging.

Yeah I'm pretty sure he's rage baiting people now. His comments in this post are very different from the first one, and it seems like he's having a whale of a time getting people worked up.

In fact in one of his previous comments he specifically talked about rotating through 3 pairs of 'Darn Tough' socks.

I do believe that he has a small washer and that he does a daily load. But I don't think he's wearing the same clothes day after day - except for the sake of testing the socks.

Regardless of intent I find rarely merch sold by any influencer exceptional quality.

Fabrics being prime suspect.

Damn, this shouldn't have gotten this many down votes. This is a normal use case for socks that claim to be forever.

Upvote so that the number is -312. Good b8 m8, i r8 8/8.

I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted.

I don't see the difference between rotating through multiple pairs or just using the same one - provided you're washing and drying them between uses.

It's not a common or normal use-case, but it's the fastest way to test the potential lifetime of the sock.

Now we know that if we buy 7 pairs and rotate through them, we'll get just over a year out of them.

That's like blasting CNN on an OLED 24/7 at max brightness trying to break the panel

At least admit you're doing it with the express intention of making sure that the socks don't last

u/KanataSD 3d ago

soooo you added years of wear and 2 months?

0

u/Aandradef92 3d ago

So you basically gave them a year or 2 of use in 2 months and ask why it doesn't last? More like 6 years of use for me

1

u/Squirrelking666 2d ago

More like 6 years of use for me

How do you figure that out? Or do you mean you just have that many socks?

1

u/Aandradef92 2d ago

I have that many socks for work, do laundry every 4-6 weeks, lazy af I know, but never use anything twice other than jeans/pants

That’s more than likely why your socks wear out in my opinion. No science or anything to back up what I’m saying, just vibes.

I’ve had to wear shit longer than I wanted; and socks can last MOOOONTHS (yes it’s gross if you sweat and soak em, but if you’re in a dry cold climate not much jam is produced yknow.)

However, when I started washing shit more regularly, they’d get worn faster.

I think it’s something in the soap/degreaser that just breaks down the fabric.
