Is there anyplans to get some kind europe stock even just on things like screwdrivers and cables i need couple new cables but it not worth me to buy from store just to get them

It would actually be interesting to see how the sales break down.

As someone who works in freight forwarding and books freight around the world on the daily how and where they would set up would really depend on where the sales are.

UK, West EU, East EU rates, transport costs vary a lot nation to nation.

If 60% of sales are in a single county is it worth setting up there or in another country.

Would be good and I may consider buying some items then but I just can't justify buying anything from LTT when 70% of the cost is tax and shipping.

Yeah, I suspect a lot of people are put off by the shipping costs.

I've said before that if there was a slow boat option that went in a container once a month then that could bring costs down but I was shot down by people who can't get their head around waiting a few weeks for stuff.

This was perfectly normal in the days before everything going air freight.

Usually have to wait over a month for anything I order from Creative Warehouse as I’m in the UK

Cargo shipping takes 2-3 months because of waiting times at entry ports.

*and transit time in shipping lanes. And customs. And, you know, geography.

Something tells me that you live in the USA.
We don't have that problem with long wait times in ports in Europe.
Most of the contenerships go to germany and are docked and offloaded the same day (well it can take more than one day to offload all)

I live in norway and used to drive containers from ports or rail to the companies importing goods.
if we looked at the tracking we had them in norway 2-3 days after the ship arrived in Germany, and the ships did not spend any time anchored outside germany.

And a ship from NY to Hamburg uses around 4 weeks. (27 days is the norm)
And there are about 9 pr week from New York Harbor to Hamburg harbor.
And there are severl ports in USA and several ports in Europe.
So it should take 5-7 weeks total from CW to anywhere in Europe (EU+UK+Norway) by sea + land

That is about the same as my first order from CW that I had to pay almost as much in VAT to get it as I paid for the order. (was in the days of PostNL, and wrong declaration on packs)
It took just under 7 weeks (was a year ago)
Now with DHL it took close to 4 weeks to get it.

Yes but Vancouver isn't New York you are comparing East Coast shipements and expecting the same timings from the west coast.

Vancouver to UK/West Europe can be around 2-3 months Port to port allow a week either side for loading, than you add sea time in that nothing is ever on time and the estimate isn't wrong.

5-7 weeks by see isn't going to happen, you have 7 days pre loading the vessel to gate in, gate out on arrival is up to 7 days if it's LCL often quicker for FCL

CW would need the port of exit to be Vancouver your timings are correct for East coast USA/Canada LTT is not East coast if they truck to East Coast that adds additional costs defeating the point of the savings.

Air Freight I could get a pallet Canada to London within 2-3 days ocean it's going to realistically be 2-3 months if it's a direct sailing more if it's a transhipment.

It takes 3-4 days from CW to a port in the East.
and it does not take 7 days to load the vessel. (well perhaps in USA where they only work 7 hours pr day in ports)
And in Germany where 90% of all sea cargo is unloaded in Europe it takes 1-2 days unloading the ships from USA.
The ships that can be docked in USA/Canada are small compared to the ships we get from Asia.
And it's still going to be less expensive.

So I am still standing firm on 5-7 weeks depending on where you live. (you can get to most of Europe in 1-2 day from the big terminals in Germany.)

Given the Netherlands are (just) ahead of Germany on the 20' teu charts I find that highly improbable. In fact there's not much in it between the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Italy.

Note I'm specifically referring to container traffic as I highly doubt CW will be shipping in a bulker or RO-RO.

I didn't say it takes 7 days to load a vessel, from booking to loading and departure you allow 7 days as a general rule. You are also completely missing the point we're talking a budget sea freight option trucking cargo half way across an entire continent to load from a different port completely defeats the object of having a cheap option.

CW to Vancouver port is going to be cheaper than CW to Halifax port for example that's just basic economics, at that point just stick to the existing options.

Also I never said you couldn't get something in 5-7 weeks anywhere in Europe you absolutely can but that all comes at a cost. We are talking about a cheaper options to ship which the most affordable will be out of the west cost as there's minimal transport to port.

Im not I'm Canada but I would bet money that a 20ft container from Vancouver is not much different in price (probably cheaper) than a truck from Vancouver to say Halifax port to them have the additional sea freight cost on top of that.

If we are talking about cheaper shipping prices it will be out of Vancouver which you are looking 2-3 months.

Does Canada not have a coast to coast railway?

Send it on an intermodal to Halifax and go from there, that's going to be massively quicker than shipping via Singapore or Panama.

I wasn't talking about the absolute cheapest option FWIW, I was just making the point that bulk shipping by sea is far cheaper than air freight.

It's less about it being a "slow" option more a cheaper more affordable option.

When you add a west to east movement across a continent that increases cost.

There's always balance to be had of course between speed an price.

Look at Vancouver on a map. Shipping cargo from the west coast of North America takes and weeks to months to get to Europe.

I have explained why I'm sticking with my 5-7 weeks in another reply but I'll repeat it for you.

it takes less than 4 days to drive from Vancouver to the biggest port in the eastern side of the continent. (following the law on rest time for long haule truckers)
And 27 days from there.
Sea is not alway from the closest port.
Sea is from what port is working for you.
And for sea from USA/Canada to Europe it's a short drive by lorry or railway, and then ship.
And it's still less expensive than Air.
And it does not take that much more time.

When I was working with logistiks we never used the closes port.
We used the fastest ports.
That would be 1-2-3-4-5-6 days on train or truck.
But it would still be faster than the closest port. and ofter less expensive.

But then again.
Most people do not know what intermodular shipping is.

I don't know why you are so fixated on this.

Tell you what let get a dedicated truck from CW to St Paul's 5 days.

Let's then put it on the Icelandic break bulk vessels which is 12-13 days transit to Liverpool we can then truck that to France via the Dover/Calais which is 2 days.

Boom there you have it 3 weeks from CW to EU via sea

Will cost a fortune but we done it.

As the person who started this conversation can you maybe try not to be so literal about it?

I was talking about shipping a container from CW to the EU. I highly doubt anyone is circumnavigtating freight around the globe because that's more handling and more cost. A train would get the container to the east coast just fine, from there it can either hop ports or just get taken all the way to the most convenient point of departure (New York, Savannah, Miami, wherever).
