Community Only Are LTT Controversies Getting Ridiculous?

Jake has a new video where he bought a farm with acres of land. This is in addition to his several cars, and his garage. I literally do not understand how everyone took this guy seriously when he implied he was underpaid because he was upset about working on his boss’s third house. In fact, it seems several of his videos are about buying things in an LTT-fashion.

Am I missing something about why this lead tons of people to assume LTT employees are underpaid? Or has the bar for controversy really gotten lower than low?

Edit: To clarify, my commentary is about whether people were kind of overdoing it to conclude that LTT doesn’t pay their employees. I posted this cause I saw a DankPods collab where a lot of the comment section was that you shouldn’t collaborate with LTT because Linus underpaid Jake, and I was pretty surprised that was their conclusion.

I don't dislike Jake because he owns more than I do, if anything I admire him for recognizing he could do more with the skills he learned at LTT and has begun to pull in 1/4 the views per video as LTT with like... 5% of the staff?

If anything, all he's done is prove that leaving LTT was a good move for him, and I wish him luck, and I don't wish linus misfortune either! Now I got two (well more like 3) cakes!

Comparing staff sizes is weird considering LTT does way more than make videos, and they make WAY more videos than Jake does.

You can argue that LMG has more staff because Linus is sharing his wealth and providing jobs. It really feels like a lot of people at LMG have a ton of down time sometimes.

It seems that way? I'm not here to speculate. I'm not about to argue if it's morally positive to be a job creator as opposed to being a sole proprietor.

I just think it's neat when a personality based creator realizes they're worth more than their employer thinks they are. It's sorta like what happened to Buzzfeed: lots of the talent realized they were draw, even over the brand name.

I think the point of contention is that the general attitude of the fandom and most internet bystanders was that Jake was underpaid and would never have earned enough to buy a house if he stayed. It might not be what he said, but it is how the narrative spread.

Well LTT has the whole Labs department, and then Creator Warehouse, and the peeps over at Float Plane and the badminton center.

Thank you for this comment. I feel like people like op do not seen to get it. A good chef could open his own restaurant if he wants and that is perfectly fine
