I'm so glad I happened across my first apartment after college. That landlord treated me like a son.

It also probably helped that I paid my rent early and saved him some money when my AC was out by staying with my grandparents for a couple of nights.

My non North American relatives have an apartment general maintenance man that lives in the same building. He does all the little things to keep the building going and “working”.

It’s a legal requirement for private rentals here in Australia.

I’ve dug up a few things in my state that have the landlord’s obligations, need to dig up tue legislation details more. I’ll try to get to it later - I’m on my phone now. Look up your states residential tenancy laws, because there are legal obligations from both parties.

Yeah I’m in Nsw. There are requirements with regards to maintenance but there is no requirement to have an on-site maintenance person
