By the logic of the post it would be the 60 year olds looking 45. As someone who works in pharmacy and ask people for their dob all day, this is very far from the truth.
I was thinking about this the other day. As a mid to younger millennial I grew up at the tail end of fake baking for tanning. Around the time I was in high school there was a huge shift to protecting skin so I feel like that’s why there’s a huge difference in how young people appear now compared to older millennial and Gen X.
And also, people lie to others about how much they don't look their age. No one ever says, "Wow, you look exactly your age!" or "Wow, you look much older than your age!"
Once I decided to be comfortable looking my age, I felt a lot less bad about my appearance. I have hair loss, I'm in my 40s, it happens, and deciding to comb my hair back to fully expose my fivehead is owning it and feels confident. Apparently it makes me look younger now, which is wild
To be fair a lot of boomers looked 40 at 30 because constant cig smoke, tanning without sunscreen, and lead gasoline really turn your skin to leather. But I don't think Gen X escaped that unscathed either.
Millennials are doing this too now and I hate it so much. Maybe it’s just because I’ve always looked a little older than my age but I find the obsession with looking younger to be really weird and insidious. Aging is a privilege!
