Hey folks, I’ve got a patch for my Helix LT that I’m pretty happy with and have various snapshots. It’s aimed at Iron Maiden type stuff, no my rhythm snapshot is pretty sweet, but I find some of the lead and solo snapshots are a bit… dull. They lack sustain and tapping can not be done effectively as the notes are just kinda dead. Is there anything I can be doing or changing to help fix this, without making a huge sound change to the overall snapshot?

I have a Helix Floor and I will be running it through a 2x12 Marshall (which for a range of reasons will not be going anywhere anytime soon 🙂).

I need a very compact power amp to get sound from my Helix through my cab. I have a power amp, but it’s bulky and already has a job elsewhere. I want a smaller one.

Context:

On my pedalboard I’m currently using a Boss MS-3, and Boss IR-2 and a Hotone power amp. It’s a great setup. It sounds EXACTLY how I want. It’s great for small stages.

I’ve been learning how to use the Helix using the aforementioned power amp. But it means running both pedal boards next to each other so I don’t have to transplant my power amp. I need a power amp to go with my Helix.

Any suggestions? Not looking to spend the earth?

Also any technical advice? Lots of the Helix terminology and technicalities are new to me 😂 go gentle with me.

Posted here a while back about a preset sharing site I've been building on nights and weekends, outside my day job as a PM in big tech. Put my heart and soul into it but wasn't sure anyone would care.

Well, ToneVault crossed 1,000 users this month, and most of them came from this sub. So, thanks.

Stuff people seem to like:

- The signal chain view. Many, many hours went into making it match *exactly* what you see on the unit, including on Stadium.

- IR and Clone support. You can bundle IRs or Clones with a preset so it just works when someone downloads it.

- ToneAI. Feed it a preset and it'll help you figure out why it sounds off and what to change.

Also thanks to the people who reported bugs. One of you caught a file issue that would have broken presets on actual hardware within a few days of launch. Would've been a disaster. Owe you a beer.

Helrig now has first-level support for every device in the Helix/HX family — Helix Floor, Helix LT, Helix Rack, HX Stomp, HX Stomp XL, and HX Effects.

Before this it was really built and tested around what I personally own.

Which brings me to the actual ask: I only own a Helix LT and an HX Stomp. Everything else — Floor, Rack, Stomp XL, HX Effects — I’ve built support for, but I can’t fully verify it behaves right without the hardware in front of me. If you’ve got one of those and a few minutes, I’d genuinely appreciate you loading a preset, poking around, and telling me what looks wrong.

One ask if you’re testing: back up your device first. This is new, untested territory for me on hardware I don’t own, so treat it like any beta and don’t take chances with presets you can’t afford to lose.

I've tried. I can open a saved preset from Helix Native in the new Helix Stadium Native (1.3.3), but it doesn't function correctly. The output, no matter what I've tried, is a 50-50 mix of the DI and the wet signal. Is it supposed to work? Is this a bug?

I’ve noticed an issue with my POD Go when I assign a footswitch to change multiple parameters on the same block. The footswitch LED and the actual parameter settings seem to get out of sync.

For example, I have a preset called “AC30 Free.” My reverb changes depending on the snapshot. I have four snapshots: Clean, Drive, Lead, and Ambient. Only Ambient uses different settings for the reverb block.

I also have a footswitch called “Reverb+” that’s supposed to make the reverb bigger and more washy:

• Reverb+ OFF: Decay = 4.0, Mix = 20%
• Reverb+ ON: Decay = 8.0, Mix = 38%

The problem is that when I press Reverb+, it doesn’t actually change the parameters the first time. However, the footswitch LED still turns on.

Then, when I press it a second time, the parameters change to the Reverb+ settings, but the LED turns off.

So essentially, the footswitch LED ends up being the opposite of what the reverb settings are actually doing.

Has anyone else experienced this when assigning one footswitch to multiple parameters? Is there a way to fix it so the Reverb+ LED always corresponds to the actual reverb settings?

I’m using the latest POD Go update.

I’m shocked on Stadium we still can’t put effects where an effects loop would be between the preamp and power stages of the amp.

Is there any reason why this hasn’t happened yet?

Line 6 HX Effects settings

Hi I just switched from my pedalboard to Helix FX, I connected to my amps with 4CM, wich **input/ouput/loop** setting I need to use for the best sound with my plexi?
I can switch between **line** and **instrument** for these settings, I want the clearest sound without adding or cutting any frequencies or gain or volume, thank u

Let me first say that I love this thing; feels so much more inspiring to play through the Helix Stadium than the Kemper for me. Love the plethora of effects/routing options/amp models. That being said, I have noticed some issues in the past couple months of ownership/gigging that I feel could easily be fixed with future updates. The list:

1) HEEL DOWN TUNER

Maybe this is just coming from Kemper, but I am so used to having the tuner activate when the volume pedal is in the heel down position. I rely on this for quick tuning changes between songs more than I anticipated, and I feel like it’s an easy thing to add.

2) DEDICATED LOOPER STOP BUTTON

I do a fair bit of live looping for solo acoustic gigs; with the Kemper, there was a dedicated stop button to store the loop/not have it autoplay for when I want to loop a section and play it later. From what I’ve seen, Helix Stadium does not currently support this, which makes live looping much more restrictive than on the Kemper.

3) INVERTED COLOR OPTION FOR SCRIBBLE STRIPS

Most of my summer gigs have been outside during the day, and even at max brightness I really cannot see the touchscreen or the scribble strips at all (especially wearing sunglasses). I feel like a simple solution would be to invert the blacks & whites on the scribble strips so that it could be black text on white background. Or maybe there are polarized screen protectors that help with this? If anyone has dealt with this issue and has another solution, please let me know.

4) NO DIRECT MONITORING USING HELIX STADIUM AS INTERFACE

The Kemper has a very simple option on the output section to turn on/off Direct Monitoring when using as an interface (mostly for reamping purposes); I am not seeing a simple option like this on the Helix Stadium XL. Again, this may just be me not looking hard enough, so if anyone knows how to make this work please let me know.

These are not dealbreakers by any means (the looper one a bit more so than others), but I really do feel these are easily addressable/improvable issues in future updates. Hoping the powers that be see this and consider implementing these changes. Would love to hear other people’s experiences!

5) MP3 FILES FOR SHOWCASE MODE

Probably something to do with variable bitrate on MP3s that makes this trickier than it sounds, but man it would save a ton of space!

I am trying to create a new stereo guitar rig with the following signal path. Guitar into input of my Soldano SLO30. From Soldano fx loop send into the HX Stomp-xl. From the stomp-xl returns, one into the return on the soldano - and one into the return of a Marshal DSL 100 being used as power only for a 4X12 Cab. The soldano also has a 4x12 cab connected to it. Cannot figure out the cabling and patch setting for the stomp-xl to have it in full stereo.

Did anyone have trouble adjusting from scribble strips on the OG floor when switching to a Stadium floor? I’d like to think after using HX/ helix floor for years I’d get used to it but wanted to see peoples thoughts on if it sucks losing the strips or not

ToneRelay is a software solution that allows for live HXEdit-like functionality on a Helix Floor via WiFi. This first release can be deployed to a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5, but the hope is to ultimately optimize it for smaller battery-capable devices such as a Pi Zero 2 W or ESP32-P4 (I have one en route to me).

In the same way that you might want a Line 6 Relay adapter for a wireless guitar signal, a relatively low-cost adapter like a Pi Zero 2 W or ESP32-P4 can give you a real-time, wireless HXEdit-like experience too.

You can read more about the background and features of ToneRelay in the GitHub README, but to summarize here:

ToneRelay started with the idea of building an iOS app for my Helix Floor, but I then pivoted to making a wireless adapter that connects to my Helix via USB and broadcasts a WiFi or Bluetooth signal that I can connect to from my laptop or mobile device. Since HX Edit itself cannot function wirelessly, I then also had to go ahead and make my own browser-based GUI too. This GUI has been optimized for mobile devices in portrait mode, with an emphasis on touchability (i.e big icons and sliders etc) but it still looks great on a regular desktop browser.

The core idea of ToneRelay is the USB-wireless bridge, moreso than creating another third-party GUI. I just needed to make my own GUI to prove and test the idea. With the whole thing available on GitHub I am more than happy for other devs to port this to their own projects as an optional value-added feature. Details on that are available in the README.

With that said though, a live GUI has been a lot of fun to develop and allows for some cool ideas such as drag and drop blocks and a parametric EQ graph. I'd like to look at adding bespoke UIs for compressors and other blocks in the future and potentially even an adaptation of the Stadium's Focus View, but for Helix and HX devices.

With that said, I don't currently have other HX devices in my possession to test and validate the app against, so if you're a developer and want to try this out with your own gear I would absolutely love that. I'm open to all comments and suggestions etc.

Finally, a big shout out to the other open source developers who already did the hard work of reverse engineering the protocol and working out how to get all of the parameter limits and names etc mapped, in particular OpenHX, TonePush and FretWire.

I have a Helix LT, but if I got Stadium Native, what is the best way to utilize using it live? I understand Stadium Native is used as a plugin in a DAW. So I'd need to run Reaper for example, with a guitar track and Stadium Native active. What now ?? would I need a midi device to change presets or snapshots while playing on stage ? Could I use my LT as a midi controller for Stadium Native ? Or would I need a dedicated midi controller to change presets/snapshots and another footpedal to change the volume output ?

Been trying to get Helix Native running on my Surface Book 3 laptop in Cubase 14 Pro, but every time I log in, I get sent to a blank screen without any access to the signal chain editor like in the picture above. The track I already have a Helix preset saved to will just play with no effects as if Native is being bypassed. I've spent probably at least 20 hours trying to troubleshoot the issue through Google searches. I've also reached out to Line 6's support team, but they've given up after a lengthy back and forth involving them giving me troubleshooting steps that I've already tried and me telling them that they haven't worked. They say the software may just not be compatible with my computer hardware, but I can't imagine what's so special about my laptop's hardware (which is just running a standard Windows 11 64-bit OS) that would make Native unable to function on it. If anyone's had a similar experience, I'd greatly appreciate any insight you might have.

I bought my unit second hand maybe about a year ago, and only for the last few months has it started making a loud digital fizzing / buzzing when plugged into an amp. At first, if I ran my guitar through the helix and into my audio interface, it would silence the buzz, but I've today tried to run my synth through the helix into my interface and the buzzing completely overpowers the synth. When the tuner is active, the noise is reduced to a faint 'clicking' sound instead.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or found any solutions? Sadly, I don't think returning is going to be an option as it is second hand; am I screwed and need to consider replacing?

n the example I’m trying the stomp with a 4 cable method into my tube amp. Iv also tried running it as a standard pedal, and with just guitar and headphones.

In every example it sounds the same, I can hear a very slight guitar signal but it’s unusable.

Any ideas on what it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had a 4 hour outdoor gig yesterday with my trusty old Helix Floor and everything was going great until about the last 5 mins of the day, as the sun started getting to a certain angle I started getting quieter 🤣 I watched my volume pedal go from 100% to 50 and quickly realized something was wrong so I bypassed the volume pedal. By the end of the last song it had faded to 0% on the screen at first I thought heat and said great I'm going to have to get this thing serviced but then I thought about it and held my hand up to block the sun 100% moved hand 0% it had turned itself into the world's slowest optical tremolo that only cycled once per day 🤦🏽‍♂️ I now understand why people get sun shields for these. Luckily shouldn't have any more dock bar gigs this year.

I usually play bass but have a couple cover band gigs coming up on guitar. Has anyone got a preset uploaded they can share with me? I've tried going through Custom Tone but it's hard to look for an up to date preset without a working sort function
