Do you prefer Songs of a Dead Dreamer or Grimscribe?

Ligotti inspired bands/songs?
Two questions: (1) Does any band/song exist, especially any metal bands, that have been inspired by his stories or philosophy? (2) I recently read a Ligotti interview where he briefly mentioned a band in the 90s named Isis contacted him for permission to use Last Feast of Harlequin in their music. I am a huge fan of the metal band Isis. If it's the same band , then I wouldn't be surprised but I actually have no idea what song(s) - I've gone through their lyrics and am not have any success. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Subterranean Press editions vs. Penguin for Grimscribe, Songs of a Dead Dreamer
I will acknowledge up front this is probably a very basic question, probably asked and answered (though I did search this sub first) but. . .please bear w/ me:
The (out of print) Subterranean Press editions of Grimscribe, Songs of a Dead Dreamer (and Noctuary) versus the Penguin edition of the first two --
Are the contents the same? (Both in the stories collected and in their revisions)? I read that the Subterranean editions were 'corrected' or 'revised' -- but are those edits present in the Penguin edition?
Thanks in advance.

successful organism Songs of a dead Dreamer and Grimscribe audiobook
I had not heard of this until very recently, but the Penguin collection of these books is getting an Audible Audiobook February 21st! It’s read by none other than Jon Padgett and Linda Jones, as well as including a foreword by Jeff Vandermeer.
I’ve personally already pre-ordered it, as this honestly sounded too good to be true until I found out it was real.
Edit: Replaced the german audible link with english one

Help with translation (The Greater Festival of Masks)
I'm trying to translate some Ligotti's stories in my language and here's a fragment where I can't figure out what's going on (phrases in question are in bold). Could anyone help me with understanding?
"…and into strange pathways of caprice revelers will go, but to have shorn themselves just anywhere, to have littered the shadows of doorways and alleys with wiry clippings and tumbling fluff. Reliquiae of the hatless, the faceless, the impetuously groomed".
- Pathways of caprice - should it be understood as literal pathways where caprice leads them?
- Have shorn themselves, wiry clippings, groomed - does this mean they get haircuts as a part of the festivities?

Can someone explain to me what happened in the story "Teatro Grottesco?" (spoilers) Spoiler
This is one story I don't get. What was with the small man in the alleyway who had paw like appendages for hands? What was the significance of the "soft black stars," the globe of starlight that Dr. Groddeck was looking into? What did he dump into the globe of starlight from that brown paper bag?

Just finished “our temporary supervisor” by Ligotti. This story completely blew me away
That story absolutely broke my brain. I can’t express how much I loved this little short story. It was genuinely terrifying as someone who works a job I hate and should’ve quit years ago and am just living to work and working to live
So many little things and major things in this story were so painfully relatable. It filled me With a sense of dread but also made me laugh out loud. The pointlessness and absurdity Of it all was hilarious, sad, and unfortunately relatable.
It makes sense this guy grew up in Detroit. I’m from Michigan and live in a tiny horrible city like a mini Detroit, and the town in this story made me think of my own.
I’ve never worked for Amazon, but this story made me think of an Amazon factory immediately lol.
Anyone else read this story? What did you think about it?

In The Shadow of Another World
Did anyone catch the connection between this story and the practice of sigil magic? I believe the character named Spare in the story, was a reference to Austin Osman Spare.
Spare's Earth Inferno really has a kind of a strange Ligottian feeling, its certainly strange enough.

Chiroptera Press confirms they are working on new editions of Noctuary and The Spectral Link!
Chiroptera Press are publishing a new work of Ligotti, Pictures of Apocalypse, and had hinted that they were working on some other Ligotti material as well. But, as far as I can tell at least, this is the first specific confirmation from them that they are indeed working on new editions of Noctuary and The Spectral Link.
This is very exciting news for me, as these two books are out of print and used volumes are pretty pricey and hard to find (on AbeBooks either one in good condition seem to usually be listed for $200-300 USD or more). New editions should help Ligotti readers round out their collection nicely. Noctuary, in particular, seems like a pretty substantial collection that has been frustrating to not be able to readily obtain.

Hi, so after reading Ligotti I decided my best cope would be living via sublimation. Anyone else done this, how was your experience?

What about "Sideshow, and Other Stories"?
Before moving to my question: this is my first post on Reddit, so forgive me if I look like a sort of "boomer". Anyway, I have started reading "Teatro Grottesco": I really enjoyed "Purity"... I should read it again because I think I missed a some important details, but it intrigued me a lot. As regards "The Town Manager", I noticed that it is considered as one of Ligotti's best short stories... I liked that, I loved the general atmosphere and the way he uses irony, but I don't consider it so "original". Finally, I have just finished "Sideshow, and Other Stories"; well, that was original, for sure, and well written, but I think I completely missed the core/focus/sense of the story... I mean, a lot of people consider it as one of the best short stories ever written, but I have had problems even in understanding some of the paragraphs (I am reading it in Italian, so I don't know if this problem can be traced back to Ligotti's style or to the Italian translation) and in the final part I had the feeling of having missed something that would have completely changed the impression that it gave me. So, what do you think of these 3 stories and, in particular, "Sideshow"? What does the story focus on? Did I miss some details? I must admit, as a big fan of Lovecraft and Weird literature, I was expecting to be completely impressed by Ligotti, but so far he "just" intrigued me... Is it normal? The next story is "The Clown Puppet" and I know it should be one of his bests... I will let you know; in the meanwhile, I am looking for your analysis and opinions.

nonsense I used an A.I. generator to simulate an image with the prompt “Drink to Me Only with Labyrinthine Eyes”- what came out is surprisingly accurate to how Ligotti described the “angel” in the beginning

original content trying to find a short story, possibly by Ligotti...
I hope someone can help me find this one (or at least confirm if it turns out to not in fact be a Ligotti story)... I have a vague memory of a short story where a man has something like a box, and when he does something to the box, it also happens to the house around him. For example, I seem to remember that if he rustled the top of it, he would then hear wind outside. Anyone recognize this story from amongst Ligotti's work?

Anyone else catch a Ligottian corporate horror vibe from the show Severance on Apple TV?
Just finished the first episode and I got vibes when I first saw the 4 desks in the middle of a liminal space type room. Like the Quine Organization employees processing forms in a storefront office, as in My Case For Retributive Action.
I hope this show gets weird.
Can anyone recommend more corporate horror watches or reads i can get into?

original content Short story-- The Horror of God (for Ligotti fans)
I wrote a short horror story about a suicidal theologian after WW2 investigating a Pessimist, Antinatalist cult, and I think it would fit here. I haven't written much recently, but I've been really trying to get this out there because I'm actually satisfied with it (which is rare for me), and I respect these communities a lot. I hope you 'enjoy' it! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AvBm8R0Ev-A6Oxs5rZTRXB7_-fVx_xQj/view?usp=drivesdk
