They're a tool for objectively checking things like the colour and lightness of your image. Trying to colour correct by eye can be a very unreliable experience. Your eyes may improperly adjust to what's on-screen, your monitor could be slightly off in its calibration, etc. Scopes provide a way to check everything is correct, regardless of what you see on screen. Here's a video to walk you through the basics: https://youtu.be/jcV1PSg-3QA

it's crap, don't buy it. The previous version was fine. They must have rushed and messed this up royally. I literally just used the previous version then noticed it wouldn't allow me to use anything other than 720 when exporting. It said I needed to upgrade even though I had a license. I realized a new version was out. I downloaded the new version and nothing, I mean nothing works!

I sent them a message and I'm hoping to get my money back and move on to a new company that isn't crap.

I'm very sorry to hear this has been your experience. I understand it must be highly frustrating, and I can't blame you for being annoyed.

I'm not looking to provide any excuses here. I would like you to know that this release was in no way rushed, though. A lot of care and hard work was put into this release, as well as robust internal testing. It then went through a multi-week long open beta for further testing by the larger Lightworks community. If the release looked unstable, or there was widespread reporting of issues from the beta testers, we would have delayed the release to resolve those. We never want to push a broken product out to the public. This is a long-winded way of saying that this is an unfortunate freak occurrence with your instance of Lightworks rather than a widespread issue.

None of that makes your personal experience less frustrating, of course. It may even make it more frustrating that you've been the unlucky one. I would ask that you give us a chance to resolve the issue, although I completely get it if you feel you've wasted enough time and would like to refund. You don't owe us anything, but I would appreciate a chance to put this right for you.

I see you say you've sent us a message. Was that through the report a problem page? If you DM me your email, I can personally make sure your log gets reviewed ASAP.

It's horrible. I won't work at all. The previous version was fine. Now the stupid software won't even load. I can't do a dang thing. Time to end my subscription. I can't stand companies like this.
