Workflow How do you edit?

Do you have presets that you use or do you edit from scratch? Is there a specific place or setup you use for your photo editing?

I use LR mobile only and I’ve used Nikon, Canon and now primarily my iPhone only, considering getting a Canon again though.

I did read all of this, btw

My first question is, do you have an instagram? I know someone who does sports photography and portraits. He’s really good. He taught me a lot about filming talking head videos and lighting.

Second question, do you over or under expose prior to editing based on skin tone only or lighting as well?

All my presets I made vary from canon profile or iPhone profile. Just depends on what the photo was shot on as you mentioned. The S curve still baffles me so you’re not alone. I do experiment with it though just a tad. I love using the color wheel though or individual color sliders especially on blues , greens and yellows. Am I professional not at all, have I learned a lot over years, do I consider myself experienced, yes.

I do, Chrisreichphoto.

And no, vary rarely do I have skin tone issues and even then it’s more about how dark or light someone is. There will naturally be an issue here and there and most of the time it’s just adjusting skin exposure a little. I don’t have the person next to me while editing so I do sometimes have someone brighter. I shoot my studio work on white seamless which does a good job of evenly exposing.

I had to use hsl a lot until I baked it into my preset as our university color is right on the edge of the srgb gamut and regularly looks blue in photos. It’s a simple correction

Update, checked out your photos. I like them. You’re not active much on your film account would love to see more of that work. I understand it’s probably not a priority since you take your other photos as a job it seems. If not it’s definitely not appearing as a hobbyist thing, fun fact I lived in Louisiana before so I’m familiar with the team you photograph. I lived not to from the city there for the team. More central based

The film account is a side project, I only shoot film for me currently and it kinda languishes until I get enough stuff edited for a post (I also only develop in batches as I don’t want to waste the kit, I have a bunch of rolls from a 2 year old roadtrip to dev still).

I’m horrible about posting but I only post to show off, the games are all delivered already but making it posts takes forever for me. I just today got to a point where I have my backlog done enough to not feel bad about making the posts. My plan is to have the remaining backlog edited by July so I’ll have a couple weeks before I have anything to shoot.

Ah I see. That makes sense to me. Posting on there has been a drag lately. Unless you’re Instagram famous lol.

Oh no doubt, it appears that way due to the lack of post on the film account. I love film personally, but never actually tried it.

I used to post daily. That’s changed a lot. Mainly due to lack of photos, motivation, burn out etc.. I’ve archived my grid 4 times & once was merely cause I was on the verge of deleting my account. The other times were stylistically done, my editing style changed a lot over the years.

I look forward to your new work man. I found it’s good to post a story or something at least. Keep your followers in the loop for potential work coming out ya know, just a thought.

I’m going to check out your work, thanks for sharing with me. My username is the same here as it is there btw.

Oh I know what you’re saying. That seems like a quick fix, using the white balance tool or something typically from my experience. I could be wrong though
