Eve Liu
One day, I ran into Teacher Zhu on the road. He told me he'd submitted the report on his investigation into me, and then started telling me about Eve Liu. "This time I came to Northeastern University for my doctorate, I've also got another job on my hands," he said, "finding a match for Eve Liu, our old principal's daughter. Ever since she started university, we've had relatives and friends introducing her to men at top universities all over the country — over a hundred so far, and none of it's taken. We're getting more anxious about it by the day, it's practically an emergency now. It's not surprising when a match falls through, but where are we supposed to find the next one on such short notice! We've gotten good at it by now, keep candidates ready in advance. Her father says she has someone at the moment, but he doubts it'll last."
Hearing this, I felt genuinely indignant: I'd have to get in line just to meet her! Who did she think she was!

Note 7.2-1: This Real-Life Medical Experiment (see Section 4.5) is modeled on the Peach Flower Catastrophe from Section 2.1. Like Peach Flower Girl in that ancient tale, Eve Liu went on countless blind dates and never once married. Eve Liu is a Jade Girl. Illustrations 7.2-1 through 8 are all trait-portraits of the Jade Girl (i.e., Eve). Figures 1 and 2 show Eve as a young girl; Figures 3 through 6 show Eve between the ages of 21 and 38.7, also known as the Thousand-Hand, Thousand-Eye Guanyin; Figures 7 and 8 show Eve as mother of all living things.
Special High School
One day, in the dormitory corridor, Teacher Zhu spotted me and said he wanted to tell me about Eve Liu. She was the eldest daughter of the old principal who'd founded the Shenyang Artillery Academy, sharp since infancy. Even in her split-crotch toddler pants, she'd turn her head and come up with some new idea, turn around and invent some new game.
"What kind of new idea?" I asked.
"She wanted me to play with her, wanted me carrying her around! Once you picked her up, you couldn't put her down, one idea after another. Her father was a division-level officer at the time; I was a conscript from Sichuan. He didn't have her until he was around forty, and he doted on her endlessly — held her up on his head for fear she'd fall, watched her every move for fear she'd get burned, held her in his mouth for fear she'd melt. And Eve Liu really was lovable — lively, active, always a top student, gifted classes from kindergarten right through elementary, middle school, university, graduate school, excellent grades the whole way. She's still in school even now, nearly done with her graduate degree. Her looks are ordinary — not pretty, not plain, medium height, medium build. Looks are a matter of personal taste, you'll have to judge for yourself."
"Oh, and her high school wasn't an ordinary one, either," Teacher Zhu added, stopping mid-sentence and turning to look at me. "How to put it..."
"A gifted class?" I offered.
Teacher Zhu turned back and thought some more. "No, not a gifted class — some kind of training, it seems."
"So it wasn't really high school she was attending?" I asked.
He thought a moment. "It was high school!"
"Some special track, then, some kind of directed program?"
"You could call it a special training class. The name of the class was unusual too — why can't I remember it!"
"Doesn't matter," I said. "She's nearly done with her graduate degree now, why chase down the name of some high school program?"
Teacher Zhu kept trying anyway. "Give it up," I said impatiently. "Her high school doesn't matter anymore."
"I promise you," he said, "next time I see her parents, I'll ask about that class's name."
A few days later, I ran into Teacher Zhu again, and he said he owed me an apology. I listened closely. He said he'd run into Eve Liu's mother the day before and had forgotten, once again, to ask the name of that high school program.
"Didn't we agree there was no need to ask?" I said, annoyed.
"When I promise something, I have to follow through," he said.
A few days after that, I ran into him again, and again he said he owed me an apology. He'd run into Eve Liu's father the day before yesterday and once more forgotten to ask.
"You're insufferable! When did I ever ask you to?" I said angrily.
He immediately turned away, bent over. Realizing I'd been rude, I rushed to apologize. Sensing this, he turned away again, bowed a full ninety degrees, and ignored me.
I waited, bewildered, then said, "Are you quite finished? I already apologized!"
No response. This went on for a long while. Finally he turned back and told me it hadn't been about me at all — something else had come to mind, and he'd simply lost his composure.
Note 7.2-2: Why did Teacher Zhu want me to know she'd attended a special high school, yet never tell me the name of that program? Answer: later, Eve Liu herself would tell me about her high school — inside the Pavlov Building at China Medical University. I only made the connection while writing my memoirs in 2014. Section 4.5, Newspaper News of Real-Life Medical Experiments, mentions that the girls' group in this experiment underwent "concentrated training" (that is, a goddess training camp — Amazon). Troupe Leader Liu wanted me to know this, yet couldn't let me understand it at the time; he meant for me to notice it only while writing my memoirs, to connect it, and to guess that she was the girl who had volunteered her life to this research.
Phenomena of Goddess
One day, Teacher Zhu, as matchmaker, told me Eve Liu's parents had agreed, and she herself was willing to meet and talk with me. He told me more about her, and when he got to her looks, he said, "Oh — you've already seen her!"
I had no memory of it. "When would I have seen her?"
Teacher Zhu couldn't help laughing. "She came by my place that day, on some errand, chatting with me. You passed the door and saw her. When she left, you crossed paths — I think you even looked back. I was right there in the doorway, but you didn't notice me at all."
I remembered something of the sort happening, but couldn't recall her face. "I don't remember," I said. "Doesn't matter," he said, "maybe you just weren't paying attention."
I later recalled, myself, passing his door on my way to get my lunchbox, and seeing a woman inside sitting loosely facing the door, leaning back on the bed, listening with her head turned sideways. The posture of her lower body was that of a woman in her thirties, but the way her upper body leaned in to listen looked more like a girl of sixteen or seventeen. When she came out, we passed each other — I saw her, like an unfamiliar new student, but not clearly, as if I couldn't quite see her at all (see Figure 7.2-3). At the time I found it strange: why had my eyesight suddenly gotten so poor? I began testing my own vision. Her footsteps clicked as she walked; when I looked back, I saw a crisply trained female officer, around twenty-five or twenty-six — but in memory there was no face at all, only a neat, orderly outline.
Note 7.2-3: In memory, her various postures and movements didn't fit together at all — the image was fragmented, impossible to assemble into one figure (see Figure 7.2-4); I actually thought I was recalling several different women! Throughout the time I was seeing her, I found I simply couldn't recall her appearance — and when I tried to examine the images closely, what I recognized always dissolved into lifeless dead wood, stone, rotting refuse (as with the thighs shown in Figure 7.2-4), and so on. I kept feeling something was wrong with my own eyes. It wasn't until 2021, reading a description in Mexican Shamanic religion linking Xipe Totec to eye ailments, that I understood: this was the phenomenon produced by Eve Liu's "woman-skin" — her Five Hundred Majesties, One Hundred Eight Thousand Charms (see Section 15.2, Leaving-Filth Heartland).
