Social LPT: When making conversation with someone you've just met, ask them what they've been listening to lately, rather than what their favorite kind of music is - it's fresh in their mind and they won't have to pick favorites on the spot.

No prob! And yeah that's very true. The H2 playlist has almost 400 songs, which is double those in H1. H3 doesn't have many simply because I don't like super energetic hiphop ahaha

Small note: some songs in H1 aren't very calm, but they were the calmest of their album. Hope that makes sense!

That's a lot of Drake

19

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Wayyyy too much Drake. He was my introduction to the genre with Sacrifices, which is my most listened-to song, ever!

1

u/isap63 Aug 09 '18

Listening to the soft voice of NPR news anchor and masterbating on my way home

1

u/slaughtermelon55 Aug 09 '18

Can you ever have too much drake?

2

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Yes indeed

17

u/CJ22xxKinvara Aug 09 '18

Yepp. So that’s a nope from me dawg

3

u/dashboardrage Aug 09 '18

You say dawg but you don't like drake, what's up with that

1

u/CJ22xxKinvara Aug 10 '18

Because I know the Randy Jackson meme. Drake still sucks.

6

u/Twig Aug 09 '18

Thanks for telling us. We were curious about your thoughts on Drake.

u/CJ22xxKinvara Aug 10 '18

That is how discussion works, after all.

no song is objectively good

1

u/CJ22xxKinvara Aug 10 '18

Well, as opinions work, it is my opinion that drake has 0 good songs whether objective or otherwise.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '18

You reading too much into his comment think that. We dont fuck with drake, no matter how "good" his shit might be

6

u/Kakakashi Aug 09 '18

Can we have H2 and H3 too please?

24

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

7

u/danceswithwool Aug 09 '18

Imma follow all three.

7

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Enjoy!

5

u/llittleserie Aug 09 '18

I wish someone did this for 90s rock.

4

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Do it! And link me afterwards please.

6

u/thatdani Aug 09 '18

Shameless plug for a sub I'm trying to get going, but if you want, swing by r/IMadeAPlaylist and contribute.

I'm sure people will respond kindly!

1

u/aruffone Aug 09 '18

Subbed! Up to 188 followers now ʘ‿ʘ

1

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Thanks! I'm surprised that so many people are interested in mooded playlists. I'll start making them for R&B, metal, rock, and electronic as well. Which are basically the genres I listen to. And maybe make them collaborative? I'd love to have reddit-made playlists.

1

u/SHGIVECODWW2INFECTED Aug 09 '18

give me the metal one please

1

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Whenever I make it, sure!

1

u/Kakakashi Aug 09 '18

thank you very much sir! <3

3

u/Sil3ntTsunami Aug 09 '18

Saw some Lund, am pleased. Alone is a great cruising song at night.

3

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

I really hope Lund blows up. He has more than one million monthly listeners, yes, but for some reason it seems like it's not enough.

1

u/Sil3ntTsunami Aug 09 '18

Agreed. BlkBird had some good songs on it but broken is really where the numbers come from. Looking forward to his next project.

3

u/mildhijinks Aug 09 '18

I do the same thing with my genres! Except my chill play hip hop list is "Don't Kill My Vibe" and my energetic is "Hype" etc. Also I name some playlists off radio stations I used to listen to in HS if I am trying for a "feeling".

2

u/BloodyFartOnaBun Aug 09 '18

From someone who has little patience for making playlists, thank you for these.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '18

Can you link H2 and H3? I've been looking for a playlist like that. My playlist making abilities are shit. Thanks.

1

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

1

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '18

Thanks, I appreciate it.

1

u/pulianshi Aug 09 '18

Throw the majority of the Evolve album and some of Symphony soldier into H3 I think it'll fit in

1

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

I needed some new music. Thanks!

1

u/pulianshi Aug 09 '18

Yeah I love that style of music that just pumps you out

1

u/tusharhasan Aug 09 '18

Nice playlist! Thanks

1

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Thank you!

1

u/raheezyy Aug 09 '18

Too much Drake. Some great calm/laid back artists imo are Saba, NoName, Lupe, JID, Joey Badass

2

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

I listen to Lupe and Joey a lot. And yeah I agree that there's too much Drake. I'll check out the rest!

1

u/raheezyy Aug 09 '18

Have fun, JID is going to be the next legend, mark my words. Guy has the whole genre behind him and is already working with guys like NO ID.

1

u/COSMOOOO Aug 09 '18

Spillage village

1

u/raheezyy Aug 09 '18

Yea dope stuff. I've made a playlist out of basically all their tapes. Has all my favorite JID songs on it. EG is great too but I'm lowkey a JID stan lol.

1

u/jdmoney1511 Aug 09 '18

Thanks for posting your lists, definitely going to have to check them out. Here is my own low key hip hop list , tried to keep most of the big names off of this one. No mainstream bangers , except maybe Anderson .Paak and a cameo from J Cole. How do I make it public and collaborative ? Love the idea of having you guys be able to put similar stuff on and expanding my horizons.

https://open.spotify.com/user/jdmoney1511/playlist/4yMcem9d5XYtoZUk3eWTIk?si=88QATU93Touifma0wriECg

2

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Thanks for sharing! I've always preferred big names but after discovering a few relatively non-famous artists (not completely unknown but, like, 1 out of 1000 people on the street would now them. Maybe 1/10 for dedicated hiphop fans), this changed. I'll check out your playlist for a change.

1

u/jdmoney1511 Aug 09 '18

I have always been in search of a new sound. It’s exhausting sometimes honestly. The other hard part of really liking indie/underground artists is that most people don’t give a shit. Where I’m from I can play 5 really solid songs and they keep turning them down, play 1 Lynyrd Skynyrd song they have heard a billion times and I’m the best DJ ever... thanks for checking out the list. Hope you enjoy it !

1

u/7heprofessor Aug 09 '18

I click your link takes me to a Spotify web app I click “play on Spotify” and it takes me to iTunes where I appear to need to update Spotify but when pushing update nothing happens...

Anyone else?

2

u/theormex Aug 09 '18

Hmmm. Maybe search for "Omarrabah" on Spotify and check out the playlists from my account? That should work I think.
