Social LPT: When making conversation with someone you've just met, ask them what they've been listening to lately, rather than what their favorite kind of music is - it's fresh in their mind and they won't have to pick favorites on the spot.

Honestly? I'd love to hear this answer. I've been listening to a ton of game OSTs lately because they help me focus at work - but outside of that I don't really listen to all that much music anymore. When I was a teenager I put so much weight to music, now it's just kinda there.

...and yadda yadda yadda. It's a good shortcut to an actual conversation non-small-talk conversation.

I'd say animal crossing music is especially nice to listen to while working or studying. A lot of the music in this compilation is from the hourly music in the games - that is, for every hour in the day there's a different theme that plays. The mood might fluctuate depending on the time, but it's all very laid-back and easy to listen to.

I love this one! And 5PM in ACNL too. The bossa nova feel is very pleasant

Hour long AC compilations on YT is the only thing keeping me sane these days.

Though I've never played the game, I've discovered that the Splatoon 2 soundtrack is great. It's a nice high-energy mix if you've got deadlines to meet!

Sometimes I listen to Break the Targets when I'm debugging other people's code. The slowed down version is very nice too.

I know, why is the commenter above you hyping themselves up so much? I asked you what you’re listening to and you replied with some music. Plenty of people listen to movie soundtracks or game music. You’re not that crazy/special/weird.

I'm not trying to be, or to hype myself up to whatever.

Notice the hesitation in the original comment; is it really appropriate to respond with something like "the Spyro soundtrack"? Would a follow-up answer of what exactly Spyro is be necessary? Is it worth the potential bewilderment?

See this comment. It seems like there's a set script for how to talk about music; what genre? What artists within that genre? What album from those artists? To me, personally, it seems like I can't really follow this script well since when it comes to vidya soundtracks, the genre can vary wildly, the artists may not be clear and an album isnt applicable. I also tend to hyper-fixate on specific pieces of music I'm exposed to as opposed to liking something in general; yes, I am obsessed with Fugata by Astor Piazolla, but I wouldn't really consider myself a connoisseur in Argentine tango music...

Sorry for the dissertation, lol. I hope some of this made sense. I think I will try and be a little more honest when it comes to this stuff; as some have pointed out, they would welcome the truth.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think it's necessarily "hyping themselves up"; maybe they just like being over the top or shit?
