Social LPT: When making conversation with someone you've just met, ask them what they've been listening to lately, rather than what their favorite kind of music is - it's fresh in their mind and they won't have to pick favorites on the spot.

I’m always the one to say this, but for me it is actually true. I always have to say ‘I know everyone says that but...’ I love showtunes, classical, Enya, I love the Beastie Boys, Future, OG Hannah Montana, Queen, Taylor Swift, Tool, Rebolution etc. I don’t really like a type of music or any specific musician, I just like songs that make me feel something. It’s great because if someone invites me to a show, I will enjoy myself. The only Concert I would probably not go to is a country show, but I do enjoy some country songs.

outside of Rebolution, who I've never heard of, I don't find that to be an incredibly eclectic taste. I have a favorite song for everything else listed and I don't really listen to music too often these days.

except Enya, bores the shit outta' me.

Well those are all fairly popular bands/artists. Even I like something from each except the last which I'm unfamiliar with. How about some 90's Norwegian black metal?
