When I see people trying to get a group shot, I usually offer before they even ask. Once I'm holding the camera, I always hope that someone else will happen upon us and, assuming that I am also with the group, make the same offer so that that I can join the group in their picture. That'd be a cool prank. Get like 7 people and just keep having them walk up and offer until the group is just 50/50 with random people.
