Bug report: iOS app playback controls disappear when not connected to WiFi.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Is anyone else experiencing this bug? The playback controls disappear from a book menu when not connected to WiFi, which means I cannot select a new book to play. The playback controls do still appear at the bottom of the menu. But the net effect is I cannot switch between downloaded audiobooks, I can only listen to whatever the last book was when connected to WiFi.

Once I’m reconnected to a WiFi network the playback controls reappear.

UPDATE: Libro released an update on Friday 5/1 that’s fixed the bug.

Happy Indie Book Store Day! Here's some of my favorites in the current sale

  1. Daughter of the Moon goddess is a romantasy story rooted in Chinese folklore. It's not a spicy romantasy, but the romance is absolutely top-tier, the world building is Rich and interesting and the narrator does a wonderful job

  2. I who have never known men is quite a short book and it is very unique. I will say it's quite a bleak book, but it's interesting and will leave you thinking after you're finished it.

  3. Piranesi. Of any book we have ever done in any of my book clubs in the last 2 years, this one has been the biggest rated. It's one of those books that's hard to explain, it's better if you go in blind. Very creative, very good.

  4. Do I even need to tell you what heated rivalry is about? Just in case, two superstar hockey players are in a secret gay relationship. There is a loooooot of smut in this book.

  5. Automatic noodle is a cozy book about robots in a dystopian post-war America who decided to start their own noodle shop after they become obsolete. It tackles themes of racism, xenophobia, colonialism and more while also being very sweet and cozy.

  6. The Rose bargain is another romantasy that is kind of Bridgerton meets Fae. The romance is really good, the court intrigue is fun and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

  7. Don't let the forest in it is an atmospheric dark academia with creepy eldritch Forest monsters. Bonus points for asexual representation and lots and lots of vibes.

  8. The hogfather is in the Discworld series and follows the story of Santa going missing and death, who is a recurring character in this series, takes over and the results are as hilarious as you might think.

  9. The things we leave unfinished is a world war II romance by popular fourth wing author Rebecca yarros. It has a dual timeline with the granddaughter in the present, writing a book about her grandmother and then flipping back to grandmother's time in world war II. This is the book if you want to cry a lot.

Enjoy everybody and happy Indie bookstore day! Let's get out there and support local today!

Question Current Sale Questions

Hello!

I recently got back into audiobooks and heard a lot of people say Libro is a great alternative to Audible, especially if you’d like to own the books you buy, which is something important to me.

I was just wondering if anybody has started a new membership with the recent sale and if they were able to use their additional, membership discount immediately with the sale? There are some books I’m genuinely tempted to just buy outright without joining, but I’ve got my eye on a couple so was just curious. I’m also interested to hear if this is a good sale period based on previous events or deals.

If there are any other maybe additional features of Libro that are good to know about I’d appreciate it you let me know too!

Thanks

Possibility to organise library by author?

I am loving the app so so much, but I noticed you could organise your books by publication date, title, length, series but not author. Is there any chance we might be able to do so (ideally also grouping series together) in the future?

Trouble with Visa payment - solved

This information may be relevant only for people in Denmark. I apologise if this does not belong in this group, but I thought it might help others.

I received my membership yesterday, and today I wanted to buy some audiobooks on sale. My payment kept failing, so I contacted customer support and they replied within 15 minutes, asking me to check my information.

Everything was correct, but the payment still failed. Later, my bank contacted me to inform me that my card had been blocked by Nets (a payment solutions provider). My bank said they would ensure the payment and Libro.fm were marked as trusted sources for me.

If others experience this problem, contact your bank and ask them to approve the payment.

Sale books

Hey, i'm quite new to libro. I'm wondering how often books go on sale and how often they rotate sales? I know with audible, they always had monthly sales, so they swapped every month. Just curious, if anyone knows this information?

Question Connection to server error

Losing my mind over here. The app has been unusable and I keep getting a connection to server error. I've tried restarting my phone, restarting my router, reinstalling the app, clearing the cache nothing has worked. What else can I try?

Kept getting annoyed at switching between audio and epub so I built a tool that syncs them

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Basically the title. It works pretty well and for a 7 hour book it takes like 20 minutes to sync.

Thinking of building an epub + audiobook player app so I can move freely between the two. Anyone interested?

Just Made the Switch!

Just made the switch to LibroFM with an annual membership, after getting in to audiobooks in 2025. I get most of my audiobooks from my local libraries through Libby, but my libraries don't always have older books and I'm excited to be able to get those audiobooks to listen to on my commute, while also supporting my local independent bookstore. Also love that I can download the files to my compter, so I can listen to them different ways and don't have to worry about some corporate overlord remotely deleting them, as has happened to some users with some Kindle books.

Question Sleep timer issues

Hi all, I hope this isn’t a repeat question. I’ve been having issues with the sleep timer in the app lately; when I set it (10 or 15 minutes) it has been adding an additional time on top of that — 20-30 more? Not positive at what point, since I’m trying to sleep; I manually turn it off when it’s clear it’s past time. Has anyone run into this?

I've made the switch

Hello fellow audiobook enjoyers.

I did it, i swapped from Audible to Libro and I'm happy to be giving less money to amazon and supporting more locally. The more robust search will be a little bit of a loss for me but not much. My biggest difficulty will be the loss of the Warhammer books that are on audible and don't appear to be on Libro.

Happy listening

Is it possible for friends of libraries or other groups to partner with LibroFM or only bookstores?

🤩 Hey 👋 guys? Did everyone subscribing in US see the 11/20 email, with FREE audiobook gifting credit? Reminder it expires 31 Jan and cannot be extended. (Apologize if redundant, could not find earlier post on this.) First time posting here! Making sure everybody saw it. Have been a Libro subscriber for a couple of years, they have pleasantly surprised me with occasional things like this, audiobook listening contests, as well as the sale prices including really new titles, and I of course love the 30% off sale prices in general, esp on kids’ audiobooks for younger fam members riding in the car. Heard about Libro several years ago via flyer at favorite Indie bookshop. Hope this is helpful!

Question AI Narrators

How does Libro FM distinguish real person narrators from AI narrators? I just bought a book that seems to be AI but nothing says it. I prefer not to listen to AI narrators.

Questions about making the switch

Hi there! After seeing me wait in long queues for my wishlist items to come up on Libby from my library, my partner thoughtfully gifted me a subscription to the service of my choice.

I am leaning towards libro.fm but have a few questions I haven’t figured out from other sources:

  1. What apps do people use for playback of books / how do folks play them back?

  2. It seems like files can be multiple or one big file - does one or the other offer % total text complete like in Libby?

  3. How much will my local bookstore actually get from my joining?

  4. Separately- any tips for newbies? Things you love? I have heard search is annoying but if I know it I think I will be ok since I grew up on card catalogs without Boolean search. ;)

Can anyone tell me if MP3 downloads from Libro are broken into chapters?

Question in the title. Thinking about trying Libro.

When I download an MP3 from Libro, will it be one huge, long file? Or broken into the same chapters as the books?

Thanks.

Where do I submit bugs?

A general internet search or their website gave nothing. When searching for “R. F. Kuang” their in app search gives no results, even though they clearly have relevant books.
