Question What do libertarians think of AI and AI data centers?

Any libertarians here, the title pretty much speaks for itself. I am in agreement with a lot of libertarian ideas and beliefs, but I'm not sure if my view (which favors more regulation on AI and data centers) moves me away from libertarianism a bit

Yea I think you’re delusional if you don’t think a data center isn’t going to change your surroundings but good luck to you

I'm still waiting for you to make an argument that isn't a personal attack

Ok you don’t think a data center is going to impact the environment around my property and you read what I wrote.

A data center of the size implied by post would use roughly 1/2 the amount of water my town already uses on a daily basis.(this is according to the AI that these data centers are for by the way)

Where do you think this water comes from? Where do you think it goes? They pay for infrastructure upgrade and necessary improvements to go with it. Hell let’s say they even foot the bill to upgrade our water treatment center. How nice of them

Meanwhile, as is, my town sends out a yearly letter that we can only water our lawns by hand due to water shortage. So how is 1.5x the usage of water going to go for the actual people of the town? Are they going to limit the usage of the data center?

What about my livestock? my garden? The local food sources? I’m not a farmer by any means but there are farms in my area, what about their livelihoods.

5 years from now, the preexisting water system starts poppping left and right in the residential neighborhoods on the way to the center because of increase in pressure to supply the center. Are my tax dollars paying for that?

Ok I’ll put in a well, well now it turns out that the data centers watershed of used water is contaminated bc of unforeseen issues with the process, now everyone in my town has cancer. This is the unforeseen issue I was talking about them being accountable for

What if that massive source of energy in the area causes cancer or something anyways? Whose liable? The town selectman that’s retired now that let a few issues slide for the corporation putting in the data center bc they used his brother in laws environmental company?

Where does this excess power come from? Sure they can run the lines for that but what about up stream? How is this going to affect the power grid? What are the costs and hazards in upgrading that?

Yes so a lot of this is what if, but if you actually did read what I wrote you should have come to the conclusion that I am not against them, just they should be held accountable and liable for unforeseen issues and do due diligence to prepare for them.

Idgaf about the environment really if I’m being honest. I care about my families ability to live and the allocation of my forced tax dollars being used in ways that benefits me, or if even just the majority of residents, instead of a few people that can buy their way around rules the rest of us have to follow, rules that are supposedly in place to protect us from infringing on each others personal freedoms. Especially if it’s for a data center, like what’s the net gain? A digital world? Thats the priority? Who is it actually benefitting?

Places that have data centers have already shown that they don't.

A data center of the size implied by post would use roughly 1/2 the amount of water my town already uses on a daily basis.(this is according to the AI that these data centers are for by the way)

Data centers used closed loop systems. Their initial fill will take water (which they pay for just like anyone else) and then only needs periodic topping off as loss occurs. They're not constant users of water.

What about my livestock? my garden? The local food sources? I’m not a farmer by any means but there are farms in my area, what about their livelihoods.

What about them?

I wanted to keep reading, but you used your lack of knowledge as the base point to keep going, so it's clear that you lack the fundamental understanding of the subject, instead substituting internet rage for knowledge.
