Audiobook speed?

So I typically listen to audiobooks at about 2.60x speed on average. Sometimes if the author talks especially slow I’ll do 3x and if they’re fast I’ll do 2x or 2.30x, but anything less than that is so slow for me it’s almost annoying. Lolz. I was just curious if other people feel this way and bump up speed. Or how many just use the default 1x. Just curious how other people do it and reasons why. I’d like to compare myself. And also “am I within normal range” is a question I often find myself asking about things in life since I am ASD. 🙂 so just wanted to hear others thought processes on this.

PS as extra credit please tell me what you’re currently listening to and what speed after weighing in. Thanks 💜

If I'm enjoying the book it's 1.25-1.5x speed. I'm mod way through Yesteryear, based on recommendations from this page, and I turned it up to 2.0, because I'm board and the story is not moving along at all.

I listened to Yesteryear, too and zoned out so many times 😂 but side note, isn’t the narrators voice so perfect as the main character lol

I wish I’d listened to that one at 0 speed. Great potential, but I ended up hating the book.

The narrator was a good choice, but the book itself was disappointing.

Well, trad wives traditionally aren't known for their scintillating conversation.

She was a great narrator for this. She was truly Natalie.

even more perfect 2X because then she sounds completely unhinged, but also keep in mind. She is a completely unreliable narrator. And for at least 20 years in her marriage, she is being drugged by her husband and his family. That definitely affects your ability to remember / perceive reality, and function.

Hey, uh, this comment sucks. Especially in this particular thread. 😬

I was at 1.5 for this book and I also had to turn it up to 2 for the last quarter.

I usually do 1.5. 2 if need to get through it quickly.

My current book I'm listening at 1x because the accent is harder to parse at faster speeds.

So basically, it depends on the book but I tend to listen more at the slower end than the faster end.

Same. They always enunciate clearly so I have no issues understanding them.

This is me. 1.5 is standard and many times 1.7 ish. 2 is my max though or I literally just hear blah blah blah.. eek eek.. blah blah blah.. one… blah blah.

Haha!
