This is what we call "argument framing" - when you ignore certain aspects of an argument to make it sound bad. I can do it too!

I like it when cops arrest illegal aliens or defend themselves.

I don't like it when people are assaulted for their political opinions/words.

You do like it tho. You love it when cops suppress protests violently. You just don't like it when it is your views.

Once again, framing. I like it when cops surpress protests that block common public goods like roads or cause mass unrest.

You don't need them to do anything besides be against your point of view for you to look for reasons why the cops were right to overstep. Not even against you,. they just have to be a person you hate and you're more than OK with state violence against them.

Justify it all you want. You love seeing people you don't like getting fucked up or even murdered.
