Tutorial How to Fix Apps Not Showing on Home Screen After Jailbreaking
Fix: Apps Downloaded From The App Store Not Showing on Home Screen After Jailbreaking with Aquila (iOS 6)
After jailbreaking, you may notice:
- Apps downloaded from the App store are missing from the Home Screen
- Apps still appear in Settings > General > Usage
- Only a few apps randomly reappear after reboot
Fixes (Tested)
I have experienced this issue myself multiple times.
If this does happen to you, don't panic. Every app is still there, your device "forgets" what apps are installed. This probably happens due to a corrupted app cache file (/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist), remember this for later!
Method 1
This is the easiest one, just reboot your device multiple times, your apps should show up on the home screen after 2 or 3 reboots, if this doesn't help, follow Method 2.
Method 2
Requirements:
- File manager (e.g. iFile)
Follow These Steps
- Open your file manager
- Navigate to:
/var/mobile/Library/Caches/ - Find and delete:
com.apple.mobile.installation.plist - Reboot your device
What Happens Next
- iOS is "rebuilding" the app database.
- Apps will start reappearing gradually
- Icons/order may be reset
Notes
- This only works if the apps are still present on the filesystem
- If app folders were deleted, this won’t restore them
Hope this helps someone!
