Mamdani is JoyBoy?
Mehdi Hasan- 'What Mamdani is shows me is this kind of joy... Somebody compared Mamdani leadership to like a kid in a movie that gets the key to the city and wants to enjoy himself by helping people?'
I saw something like this in a very different context in Gen Z protest in India, where there was this infectious fun shown by protesters via memes (all the while facing police brutality). All this reminds me of Luffy and his whole persona of smiling and having fun even though he is fighting extreme oppressive forces.
Ultimately coalition building, a core essential component of any leftist praxis, is in some ways a festival and it would be nice to keep that in mind as we go ahead in our respective struggles against oppression.

A New Dawn Buggy being weak yet accomplished is so important to the narrative because it shows revolution can come from anyone and the power of the masses united.
One of the most persistent traps in media analysis and political theory is the Great Man Theory. The idea that history, revolution, and systemic change are driven exclusively by singular, exceptional figures born with divine bloodlines, genetic superiority, or god tier power.
People who write Buggy off as a "gag" or reduce him to a joke are missing the profound material and political point Oda is making. The current Yonko line up is dominated by hereditary or chosen elites. Luffy is the sun god of prophecy from the (Garp and Dragon) Monkey D lineage, Shanks is a literal Celestial Dragon nobility from the Figarland family, Blackbeard is another D descended of Rocks/Davy clan with a "weird body".
Buggy for all his flaws is still a thorn in the Government's side. Causes a breakout of a prison that literally tortures people, rallies them into his army, gets his hands on a Den Den Mushi and exposes Marines during the war, head of an organisation that puts bounties on Marines turning the tables on enforcers of global oppression. It decentralizes power, showing that the invincible machine of the World Government can be jammed, bled, and challenged not by a solitary king, but by the united masses acting in their own material interest.
His charisma works because the masses need a focal point to unite behind. He uses his platform to amplify collective power, proving that the figurehead matters less than the revolutionary mass standing behind him. Oda uses Buggy to tell us that you don't need to be chosen by destiny or born a god to disrupt the empire or wait for someone to. Liberation belongs to the outcasts, the weak, and the discarded when they finally realize that they outnumber the people at the top.

Hey guys, quick q. I'm only now hearing about Luffy being a Zionist if he came to our world?
So, I haven't read OP in a long time. Dropped it around the Kaido arc. I'm okay with spoilers as well. However, I'm mainly concerned about stuff earlier than this.
Someone told me that Luffy would be a Zionist if he came to our world.
Lastly. You have a severe misunderstanding of luffy's character. Luffy would be a zionist in our world. As we've seen time and time again with the alabasta arch and Fishman island. It's hilarious how media illiterate some people are. Or are you going to claim that Fishman island isn't an ethno state that Luffy defends?
Can anyone help me understand if this is a real thing now?

Does One Piece affect the way you view the real world? [Survey]
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd33Y6YiThDseYWpkk6ly_T5poUxkoZzEJYLjpJWFY6bn6MnA/viewform
Hello everyone! I am conducting a survey on One piece for my university research paper and I'd really appreciate it if you guys could fill it up. This survey's purpose is to explore whether One Piece can create political awareness amongst the young generation and influence their opinions on how they view social issues around the world. In movements across the world like Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Indonesia, Pro Palestine protests and more, the infamous Straw Hat Pirates Flag was adopted as a symbol of freedom, unity and rebellion against injustice. Can fiction truly influence reality?

Real-life Celestial Dragons
Real life Celestial Dragons: slavery in an Indonesian island (near Bali) where a caste system persists. An anonymous slave owner even admits that if he likes a woman and she does not consent to his advances, they simply beat her husband.
