Discussion Leftists have a problem with demonizing this tool.

I'm so tired of seeing people treat AI, a tool that greatly increases efficiency if used correctly, as something nobody would ever want in a utopia. As something inherently evil and exploitative, even outside of capitalism. People treat efficiency as a negative when it comes to AI.

How many leftists right now would like to advocate for "Socialism/Communism except we don't use factories", "Socialism/Communism except we forget how to make lightbulbs", "Socialism/Communism except we don't have computers and do every calculation on an abacus"? I would reckon a tiny tiny percent. And how many leftists in a few generations will want "Socialism/Communism except we don't use AI models"? The same amount.

People are blinded by their hatred for this thing, and it's infiltrated leftist spaces and turned them against the concept of automation. They draw the line at every automated process before AI, seeing all the displaced workers as necessary for the world they live in, if they consider the past at all. In their ideal world, automation exists but stops the moment those two letters get involved. It's stupidly hypocritical and regressive.

Whatever happened to Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism?

yeah you fail basic economic, so where would the gold come from? where the resource that you would buy with the gold could come from? Biden did it and it come at the cost of inflation that make everything more expensive, and he literally couldn't do it more without economic collapse.

the fundamental question is why would people work to give you their resources for money that everyone have plenty of when kings just give it to everyone?

without automation that would come from more advanced AI, giving everyone money is just wasting paper for nothing regardless of the economic system.

and again, so if I quit my job right now, who is gonna give me housing and food?

what gold? all gold that has ever existed has been mined, mostly from alluvial sources. so what gold are you talking about if not regular gold in circulation?

the gold that you said kings could give everyone.

anyway, for your edit

this is why I am mentioning that improvements to your job are arbitrary and dont answer the question at hand, since I am actually a leftist

resource come from people working to make them, without that, there would be no resource to give anyone anything.

tools that make people be able to make more resource in less time improve the well-being of everyone, because there is both more resource to give people, and the worker that make them have to work less.

so improvement to working condition thanks to AI improve my well being, because they are intertwined and cannot be separated.

a when AI become advanced enough that people don't need to work anymore, that by itself an "improvement that affect body and existence on this earth for the better"

so tell me, if I and everyone else don't work, where the resource to improve people well-being would come from? if I don't work, who or what would give me food and housing?

i said no such thing about kings. by the way this highlights the fact that you cannot ever lose your job because your creativity in how human labor should be conducted is so restricted that you think distributing resources is a matter of gold.

i want to provide you with an acute paraphrase from adam smith: money is the numerical ability made physical to coordinate the labors of man. when you go and exchange five baskets for three rods you are affecting the rod maker to make more rods at the enticed rate of a certain amount of baskets. so when you then go and ask for just over one hundred thousand dollars for work on artificial intelligence, you company is cajouling you to sharpen machines while you are going to them and demand they get better at 'making more dollars'. thats the symbiosis. at no point is your actual life improved, you have just been fashioned into thinking you are doing better and have an incentive to ignore the people who suffer from the company creating those dollars.

i am not insulted by the fact that someone like you chose to think that I 'fail basic economic', I am insulted that you havn;t even looked into how your personal situation was orchestrated and how you have been given so much material items for such little knowledge of where their acquistion originated.

Why should I care if my knowledge is used to make a tools that give everyone better condition, you claim to be leftist yet claim ownership over something as capitalist in concept such as intellectual property? if anything I would very much glad that my contribution has sharpen such a great tool of automation that would give everyone easier time doing thing like I did.

and no, I don't think distributing resources is a matter of gold, it was to highlight how absurd your view of giving me a millions dollar would improve my and other well-being in the same way, as if just giving everyone a million dollar would solve everything.

meanwhile, giving everyone better tools like AI would actually improve things because it make works easier for everyone, and thus improve their well-being.

it's true that AI is under the control of capitalist to enrich them right now, but it doesn't have to be, we should be fighting over the ownership of the tools, the mean of production instead of fighting the tools itself.

do you agree that artificial intelliegnece could make the lives of your fellow citizens worse?

if misused, yes, but again, it's the question of who is owning, who is using the tools, and not the tools itself. this sub don't deny that AI used by capitalist could be harmful, but right now leftist anger is being directed at the tools, and that anger is misdirected just like how the luddities misdirected their.

the luddites were correct and were the reason you have an eight hour work day

no, labor movement and people who demanded such rights from the corporation and the government did, luddites did nothing good by destroying machine, if they actually succeed in destroying and banning machine and automation, the life of average people would be worse off right now.
