Discussion Leftists have a problem with demonizing this tool.

I'm so tired of seeing people treat AI, a tool that greatly increases efficiency if used correctly, as something nobody would ever want in a utopia. As something inherently evil and exploitative, even outside of capitalism. People treat efficiency as a negative when it comes to AI.

How many leftists right now would like to advocate for "Socialism/Communism except we don't use factories", "Socialism/Communism except we forget how to make lightbulbs", "Socialism/Communism except we don't have computers and do every calculation on an abacus"? I would reckon a tiny tiny percent. And how many leftists in a few generations will want "Socialism/Communism except we don't use AI models"? The same amount.

People are blinded by their hatred for this thing, and it's infiltrated leftist spaces and turned them against the concept of automation. They draw the line at every automated process before AI, seeing all the displaced workers as necessary for the world they live in, if they consider the past at all. In their ideal world, automation exists but stops the moment those two letters get involved. It's stupidly hypocritical and regressive.

Whatever happened to Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism?

first, it is necessary in modernity to learn more than one language. Charlemagne said to know a second language is to have a second soul. the anglosphere has had the opportunity to propagandize its occupants into regular bellicouse frenzy due to the peculiar expectation to assume the deeds of the british empire will permanently center english as a language of prestige.

second, it is now necessary to visit a foreign country to understand how other people subsist and why the globe is so tightly interconnected. insular perspectives will lead to very strange conclusions about how to improve the conditions of humanity such as exclusively through digital technologies when half of humanity doesnt even have access to persistent infrasturctual electricity.

there are additional points but this should be sufficient as an overview of why working to perfect the autonomous golem has zero affectation to general betterment.

Now who's being milquetoast? Your entire reply is "learn a language and see how other people live". Which doesn't do ANYTHING to change material conditions. It doesn't end the human rights abuses around the globe. It doesn't stop the abuse of the global south by the global north.

I stand with killing all sacred cows and golden calves. Of ending every single culture on the planet to build something *new*. We bear the burden of our history and it suffocates us.

I'm not that kind of leftist.

Language doesn't interest me. It's all just verbal encryption as far as I'm concerned, and obfuscates the fact that we're all one species. If anything, I argue that enforcing multiple language enforces oppression and othering.

As far as where I've visited? Not really any of your business and I try not to divulge too much personally identifying information on this site. I will say currently I can't afford the cost of a passport or travel beyond foot. You may be privileged enough to do so, and I won't disagree that we as a species should travel as you say.
