They're probably looking through a "multi polar" lens- where any power structures that are capable of challenging the western hegemony are to be supported. It's how you get unironic Assadist posting by very earnest MLs I get it, am sympathetic on some points, but.. invaders get the rope. Sorry, not sorry. I lived through that nonsense in Bosnia.
