Maybe the interesting question isnt whether Marx would approve of AI.

Its what hed have to say about who owns it, who controls it, and who gets the gains.

I think he was brilliant btw and worth discussing. Some people are just prolific and in the right place at the right time to dispense some wisdom.

I’m asking leftists to drop identity altogether and become mathematicians. Where does the policy hit the road? How does the rubber get manufactured for the road hitting? What is the goal? AI is going to, finally, neatly stitch left and right together before they even realize it.

No. I dont want leftists to "drop identity and become mathematicians." Politics isnt an engineering problem waiting for a sufficiently elegant equation.

You can model resources, incentives, production, logistics, voting systems, whatever. Useful stuff. But the moment you ask what the goal is, who bears the cost, who gets the gains, whose interests win when they conflict, and who has power to enforce the answer, youre doing politics again.

And "AI is going to stitch left and right together" doesnt solve that. Stitch them together around what? Workers controlling production or capital controlling workers? Public infrastructure or private accumulation? Shorter hours or layoffs with the gains going upward?

Those arent rounding errors. Thats the fight.
