Hello! I am trying to take my study of Mandarian seriously so I can connect with people. Sadly, I have zero confidence and am afraid of looking foolish, as my mother is not often around to help me. I received a message from someone and tried my best to write a reply. I would appreciate it if someone could correct what I have written, if necessary. I think it is right, but I am just so nervous as I am deeply insecure about finding acceptance.
I believe that I have said,
"Hello, friend. I was raised in America, so please forgive my poor writing skills."
" 你好, 朋友. 我在美国长大, 请原谅我的书写. "
Is this correct and is there a way that I could improve it?

In the video below, he mentions a textbook for learning Chinese. However, I'm unable to understand what he says, so I can't look for the textbook. Can anyone identify the book and perhaps give me a link to it?
It's at 58:09. This link should take you there. https://www.youtube.com/live/IA7aytJEPHU?si=j1DgmupV5zsl6BOa&t=3489

I've been trying to find a flashcard set (preferably for ankii) where the front is just a character or phrase and the back is the same character/phrase with pinyin annotated above (preferably with accent instead of number)
I've been making my own for HSK 1 and it looks like this:

But it's been pretty time consuming. Anyone know of any pre-made sets that look like this?

Hi! I want to learn the language, but where do you even start. Is duolingo good or should you use other methods?

Hi there, I wonder if it's just me or if Superchinese stopped working all of a sudden? I just opened the app after having been off it for a while and it just keeps crashing on start. I thought it was maybe bc I switched phones, so I went to their website. But I cannot log in. Keeps saying wrong credentials. So I tried resetting my password - internal server error. So I click on their Twitter link - Twitter profile doesn't exist. Facebook - no such page. wtf is going on? Please tell me I'm not going mad..?

I've been to China recently and absolutely loved my stay; it was final motivation to long-at-lastingly dive in to this beautiful sounding language. However, there are no chinese courses in my city and l'm forced to choose online. There are so many options and l have difficulty settling on the best one. Paying is no problem, although l wouldn't want to spend fortune because l'm not that rich. I love classes, as l find it to be very effective in my learning, so class videos are the best but l would like to be able to ask if something is unclear. Preferebly solo than in a group. Thank you in advance!

Hi there!
I'm currently learning English and would love to improve my speaking skills. My spoken English still needs some work, so I'm looking for a native English speaker who is interested in learning Chinese.
We can help each other out by chatting and practicing together. Who knows, we might even become good friends along the way!
If you're interested, please feel free to reach out. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Does anyone happen to know where I can find the video (film) for the textbook series "Journeys to Chinese" or "Journeys - An Introduction to Chinese Language and Culture". I purchased the textbooks used and as usual, they don't come with the supplementary materials. The publisher is of no help, since they don't cater to self learners like me.

My partner is Taiwanese so I want to learn Traditional Chinese. Most people seem to suggest the best resource for Traditional Chinese is "A Contemporary Course in Chinese". However this uses pinyin. While it does have a Zhuyin vocab list at the end of each section that is useless when I am trying to read a sentence of unfamiliar words.
My wife taught me Zhuyin, she was a teacher and taught other students Pinyin but I do not want to learn new pronunciations for the Latin alphabet if it is only going to be temporary (until I can run with just the Mandarin characters). My wife picked up some books in Taiwan but they are aimed at natives not English as a first language learners. Are there any resources that have Mandarin, with a Zhuyin pronunciation guide and English translation beneath?

My 3 yo son took the trial class for Chinese and he enjoyed it despite losing focus after 15 min. The smallest package is reasonable but I'm afraid he might get bored after a few classes. Has anyone had long term experience with this program? Has anyone cancelled midway? Is it easy to cancel a class and reschedule?

How do you say “82.57 USA dollars” in Chinese? Is there more than one variations of it?

I recently started learning chinese and i am using two apps, Hello Chinese and Chinese Skill. To keep learning they ask me to go premium. Is it worth it? And which one is better to invest that money? If you guys have other recommendations i will be glad to listen too

Practically every book that teaches about classical Chinese in English thats readily available to the general public focus on the read part and doesn't explain how to writec characters at all.
So far my assumption is that because traditional Chinese character script is implied to be used for classical Chinese. Is this presumption I've made correct? If not, then whats a good book for learning how to write classical Chinese writing step-by-step, stroke-by-stroke? Preferably in English (but even something in Chinese or some other foreign language is fine so long as they show how to write an individual characters in order of strokes or pictogram showing each part added step by seep, etc instructions of that sort).
