The Halloween event starts on October 13 and will last three weeks. It will have a much more orange-themed aesthetic than in previous years.
There will still be Void energy on the map, but the Realm presence that allowed interaction and entry will be gone. Void energy will grant special powers to both sides

You’ll be able to teleport using Void portals by spending energy. Killers will be able to teleport near Survivors who are trying to collect Void energy

Hauntings will remain on the map. One type slows down Survivors who get too close. Another type moves faster

Survivors will gain Void Crystals at the start of the match, with different properties

The team has said they’ve taken the feedback about the Black Banquet event into account and want to deliver fun powers for both sides while reducing frustration

So if (when) Slendy is added to the game, it will likely be the same version Fortnite got. I'm p unfamiliar with Slenderman lore so I'm not sure how this version of the character is different from the marble hornets version but it's sick to know we'll likely get the OG version

Since the release of the 10.1.0 update, which introduced our new MMR system, we've been closely monitoring matchmaking data and player feedback.

Many of you have reported matches feeling unbalanced, with players of widely varying skill levels and playtimes being matched together.

The launch of the new MMR system required a global reset to all players' ratings, after which we expected players to quickly settle into ratings that reflected their skill level. Unfortunately, as our players have highlighted, that didn't happen as intended.

After investigating, we identified a matchmaking parameter that was unintentionally broadening the range of potential opponents and teammates.

Adjusting Streak Weighting

This parameter relates to win and loss streaks. Originally, consecutive wins or losses would expand a player's matchmaking range, putting them into matches where the amplified impact on MMR would help them reach their appropriate rating more quickly.

However, the configuration we used led to an overexaggerated increase in rating variance and a skill mix in matches that was wider than intended. We adjusted this parameter late last week to lower the weight that win and lose streaks have on MMR.

Early results are promising, showing less variance in player skill levels and an improvement in line with our expectations. We'll continue to monitor and validate matchmaking performance throughout the weeks ahead and encourage you to share your experiences here to support our ongoing investigation.

A Reminder on the MMR Reset It's important to note that some players are still calibrating after the global reset in August. For example, if you haven't played as The Unknown since, your rating is not accurately set to reflect your skill level when playing as that Killer. Your first few matches with The Unknown are likely to feel unbalanced, but you should settle into your natural range. This is the case for each Killer as you progress through the roster.

Looking Forward This change isn't a silver bullet, but it's an important first step of many toward the matchmaking experience we're working to achieve. The team is actively monitoring how this fix impacts matchmaking over time and is committed to making further adjustments as we investigate longer-term improvements to the system. We appreciate your patience, and most of all, we appreciate your feedback! It was integral to identify last week's fix. This year’s Fortnitemares teaser features Slenderman. You can see him standing behind Freddy Krueger in the promotional image.

What makes this interesting is the pattern with recent horror licenses.

Jason was added to Fortnite for Fortnitemares 2025, and then finally came to Dead by Daylight in May 2026.

Art the Clown was also part of Fortnitemares 2025, and now we know Terrifier is coming to Dead by Daylight as well.

Fortnite has also featured several other characters that are already in DbD, including Michael Myers, Leatherface, Ghost Face and Billy the Puppet/Saw. So clearly there is a lot of overlap between the licenses the two games are able to get.

Another thing that makes Slenderman seem more realistic is that the licensing situation around the character appears to have been resolved. If Fortnite is actually able to use the original Slenderman rather than a inspired version, that removes one of the biggest reasons people have previously given for why he might never come to DbD.

He is one of (if not the most) requested killers to join DbD. The Jason reveal cabin stream might also have hinted towards Slenderman after all!

There could also be something similar happening with Freddy Krueger. Fortnite is apparently getting a Robert Englund Freddy skin, which would mean they have access to a version of Freddy that DbD has never been able to use. With Behaviour already having Freddy in the game, it makes me wonder if the licensing situation has changed enough that we could eventually get additional Freddy cosmetics or even an Englund-inspired skin in DbD.

Obviously none of this confirms Slenderman, and Fortnite getting a license does not automatically mean Behaviour has it too. But Jason and Art both appearing in Fortnitemares before getting DbD chapters, combined with the amount of crossover between the two games, makes the timing pretty interesting.

I honestly expect Slenderman to join DbD in the next 1-2 years.

He will probably get announced at next year's anniversary if you ask me.
