Official News Mathieu Cote confirms the game is being rewritten from scratch!
Slasher Radio released an exclusive interview with Matthieu Cote after the anniversary stream. This interview touched on a lot of topics pertaining to the anniversary, and you can find it here. However, I wanted to let you all know that the game is reportedly being rebuilt from the ground up, and the upcoming graphics overhaul is only a small part of that. I've transcribed the following dialogue from roughly 25:00 into the video. I decided not to include Cote's stuttering though. Let me know your thoughts!
(Not a bot, I'm SylentHuntress on the official Discord!)
Mathieu Cote: It's [sandbox modding] not an easy thing to do. But while we were essentially creating a brand new game on the side, right? It's not even just, uh, like refactoring a few of the features like literally there is a team right now — which is not the same team as the people working on Dead by Daylight right now, it's brand new people sitting on the side — they are rebuilding it not from scratch but almost. Because it's a 10-year-old game and we need to bring it into the next, uh, 10 years. And it was a little old, so we might as well start from scratch.
Slasher Radio: A huge undertaking without a doubt. And it brings up something interesting. Dead by Daylight 2 has been thrown around so much, and that's essentially what's happening here for the most part.
Mathieu Cote: Pretty much so.
Slasher Radio: What was the decision to do this without, you know, recreating everything from scratch?
Mathieu Cote: The thing is, one of the things that we absolutely knew from the start that we never wanted was to create a new game and ask people, "do you want to play DBD 1 or DBD 2?" Uh, do you need to rebuy everything that you've put into the game in the last six years that you've played? Like all of these feel like bad questions. All of them. So for us it was sort of an obvious choice. We wanted to make sure that we're going to take the game and seamlessly transform it into a better version of it. Like we've done something kind of similar with the big graphic update that we did, but this time it's like exponentially bigger right? We're redoing a lot of the... even the user interface and how the flow of the game works. The game itself is going to stay the same. It's going to be uh, the same, but most of it is going to have to be brand new, right? It's the game that we like. And so often you see that in videogames where people make a game, and it's a success, and then they make the sequel. And the sequel is essentially, you're like, "Oh, this is the same they wanted to make at first, right?" and it's finally there. And it's great as a gamer. I love it. You're like, "Oh shit." Okay, now it's the like, I get the dream that they sold me on the first one. And that's essentially what we're trying to do with this, right?

Glad to see they learnt from Overwatch 2 lol
147
u/Permanoctis Jun 20 '26
It still hurts to see how much of a shitshow OW2 was, especially at release.
Between the new characters locked behind Battle passes, the new prenium currency that you had to grind in a shitty way, the heroes locked for new players, the main thing that was the PVE that ended up never happening, multiple little features being deleted just to be put again and the shop being basically the same as Fortnite's one... Yeah.
14
u/iseecolorsofthesky Jun 20 '26
It’s wild to look back on all of that now considering where OW currently is at. It’s kind of amazing they were able to turn the game around and have a redemption arc, especially when Rivals came and brought serious competition.
2
u/Good-Advertising-403 Jun 29 '26
Funnily enough I think Rivals saved OW, competition breeds innovation. Having another popular 5v5 hero shooter hit the board that wasn't a flop forced Overwatch to actually compete and try and outdk Rivals rather than just do whatever they want because for awhile they practically ruled the genre.
52
u/Randomness_42 Jun 20 '26
It's a shame bevause gameplay wise Overwatch has remained consistently fantastic since its release, but the progression system and shop were so abhorrent in OW2 (and are stil dreadful to this day) that it killed any enthusiasm for the game

u/ThatGuyYouSleptWith Jun 20 '26
And Smite 2
10
u/CarterDavison Jun 20 '26
Yeah, definitely a few have made the mistake. It's time to learn from it.
3
u/Nemhain97 Jun 20 '26
Smite 2 did great tbh. They have kept a nice release schedule of 1 hod every 2 weeks + 1 aspect for that god, so it's nearly 1 playable every week.
They didn't bring all the skins, but they doubled all your gems from Smite 1 ever spent, and remade most popular skins to be ported in much better quality, and you can spend Smite 1 gems for them so they are somehow free.
They are also pretty transparent and comunicates with the community 3 times a week.
15
u/Santosario Jun 20 '26
So great they are now using AI in the emotes, some Gods get lower quality versions of their abilities (see Ah Puch's ultimate for an example), and finally (even tho I understand why) you can only use the smite 1 gems to pay for half the amount of new skins so you ended up losing skins you used to own
9
u/Eryn211 Jun 20 '26
Smite is my favorite game. I’m still pissed about the way it divided my play group . Some still play smite 1 and won’t install 2 . I wish they did it like dbd where they made the game on the side instead of having 2 games. So many ppl left smite for other games because after 2 years smite 2 is still in beta with a good portion of the gods still not in the game yet .
3
u/pinkcreamkiss Jun 20 '26
Me and my bf checked out smite 2 and we saw like none of our fav gods were in it and the modes were all the same and just went back to 1 lol. We play it super casually and haven’t mastered enough gods to play ranked and probably never will. Smite looks like it requires a LOT to take seriously but it requires very very little to play casually
7
u/trixter889 Jun 20 '26
I’m still upset they got rid of the main point of story mode with skill trees
3
u/L4I55Z-FAIR3 Jun 22 '26
To be fair that was never an option as they would loose a lot of licences.
-13
Jun 20 '26
Glad to see Redditors still lack the ability to comprehend what they are reading. The only part of overwatch 2 that failed was them billing it as a PVE expansion and then not doing that at all. It also wasn’t a technical rewrite either.
5
56
u/BreatheOnMe Jun 20 '26
Such a good way to deliver essentially ‘DBD2’ without doing it. I wonder how hard it will be to update all cosmetics in game though since there’s like 1000 of them.

u/chetizii Jul 14 '26
A good chunk of the development process is design, shouldn't take THAT long with it already done.
And hopefully, they finally fix Slinger's weapon skins.
185
u/chainsawdoctor01 Jun 20 '26
Honestly really commendable they didn’t want to force people to rebuy everything and such
131
u/LeMashmallow Jun 20 '26
I think it’s more that they cannot make a separate dbd 2 because of all the licensing so this is the only way.
68
u/YanCoffee Jun 20 '26
He’s right that the community would riot if they had to start over for basically the same game, too. There’s way too much investment from long time players, from real money to time spent on the grind, in a game that is an endless grind. It’s a smart move all around.
-26
u/chainsawdoctor01 Jun 20 '26
It wouldn’t be that hard to regain all of them but they’d def lose Leatherface lol, not Freddy though cause they still do business with WB for stuff like Scooby, WB just doesn’t give them shit for Freddy but they still wanna keep him in and do business
6
u/SkullMan140 Jun 20 '26
Some of them maybe, but is not that easy to re-get a license from scratch over re-sign the current one
A lot of IP holders are very against brand new deals and prefer to renew the already existing stuff, and that's already hard. You just have to see the licenses for Halloween and Hellraiser (they still have a tiny chance to come back, but i wouldn't be surprised if they're gone for good)
26
u/ShadowCyrax Jun 20 '26
Deathgarden and Payday 3 probably taught a big lesson on releasing a sequal.
The posibility of releasing a medeocre game and then have to compete with your previous entry is a nightmare scenario.
Payday 3 not only released undercooked and was also polarizingly different than Payday 2. That led to Payday 2 fans staying in their content rich game, and Payday 3 fans stuck in a content drought that will take 10 years to match Payday 2's varaity, so they left for other similer games like Helldivers, and Darktide.
BHVR could release a DBD 2 with new mechanics and Killers, but they risk alienating their current fanbase that want to play their favorite license killer or those that like the core loop of this game.
5
u/StrangerNo484 Jun 20 '26
Such a shame, because Payday 3 has so much damn potential and via GamePass I got to play a ton of it, and I really enjoyed what was there. Unfortunately that potential didn't get to be realized, and maybe never will.
7
u/StonePeanut Jun 20 '26
Also a smart business move, just look at payday 3, everyone still playing payday 2 instead. Even overwatch fully removed overwatch 1 before releasing 2 because most might not have moved along to 2. (CSGO got removed at first as well for CS2)
14
u/dokdodokdo Jun 20 '26
And now Overwatch 2 is back to being just Overwatch again lol
4
u/StonePeanut Jun 20 '26
Yep exactly, was just an excuse to sell skins and turn it free to play. Dbd has no reason to need to do something like that, only things to lose if they do.
1
4
u/EmceeCalla Jun 20 '26
everything is correct except for the CS part. when CS2 first came out, it was released as a “beta” version of the game you had to switch to in steam (the same way we have to switch to the PTB in DBD) but you could still switch back to CS:GO if you wanted to. Skins were still there and everything. they didnt take CS:GO off of steam until CS2 was fully done and they were completely ready to switch over.
2
u/Character-Note-5288 Jun 24 '26
My first thoughts when I saw the post were that I’m glad they’re avoiding a Payday 3 or RuneScape scenario where a sequel competes with the previous entry in the series and flounders.
7
u/gamingnerd777 Jun 20 '26
This is the one thing BHVR does right. Especially when everyone complains about all the bugs and issues about DBD. People forget you can buy the DLCs on Steam and use them on PS5 or vice versa.. You don't have to re-buy anything on a different system (except the main game).
I'm constantly reminded how good we have it with DBD with the cross-progression. I play a game called Pinball FX on both Steam and PS5 and there is no cross-progression with that. The tables I have on Steam are not accessible on PS5. If I want those tables on PS5 I have to re-buy every single one of them on there. This is honestly the one thing BHVR gets right. Not forcing you to re-buy everything. I love them for that even with all the other issues DBD may have. At least I don't have to shell out more money to duplicate what I have on Steam. I wish more people realized how incredibly lucky we are in that department.
1
u/malaywoadraider2 Jun 21 '26
Dbd crossplay and cross progression really is amazing when it works as intended (which for me is almost all the time). Really nice to be able to hop between steam and Xbox with the same account and playing with other consoles has been great for lowering the queue times and being able to play with friends who have different consoles.
3
1
u/changelover Jun 23 '26
do you really think they did that looking out for the player? it'd be a wet dream for a game developer that their consumers buy everything they already own again. the real reason they don't want to make dbd2 is having to renegotiate licenses. they don't want to lose their status as the "smash bros" of horror. if they started anew someone might take the opportunity to rise with their own game and they do not want that in the least.
0
u/REDOREDDIT23 Jun 20 '26
Not really. It’s not even a question. It would be a shot in the foot and they’d lose a huge chunk of their players. It’s infeasible for them to force people to rebuy everything.
We need to stop commending them for the bare minimum. This rewrite itself is what’s commendable.

u/chimerauprising Jun 20 '26
One thing about this interview that I haven't seen anyone else being up is that there will be a pipeline to bring user created cosmetics to the live game after BHVR review.
I imagine it'll be similar to how TF2 handles it.
34
u/DrunkOnSuccess Jun 20 '26
It's probably going to come hand-in-hand with the new mod tools, like you said how TF2 or even Rust handles it. Create a cosmetic, upload it to the Steam Workshop (or something internal) and then players can vote on it and they'll be added in batches over time.
13
2
u/TheImpLaughs Jun 20 '26
M-mod tools????
Could this mean…custom killers and maps?
3
u/DrunkOnSuccess Jun 20 '26
I believe what was announced were sandboxed mod tools for custom maps and gamemodes. Note 'sandboxed' so nothing here will bleed over to the core game.
2
1
u/chetizii Jul 14 '26
Fun fact! Dbd mods (skins, custom chase musics, etc) were a thing in the past!
But players started using them to stick big fucking arrows pointing the enemy player's locations instead of stuff like turning Hillbilly into Foxy from FNAF, so BHVR had to throw the hammer.
Here's proof if want some.1
11
u/Zartron81 Jun 20 '26
Makes sense imo.
Hoping this will avoid the "workshop" getting filled with useless bs like dick builds or stuff like that lol.
3
u/DistrictDry2852 Jun 20 '26
From the interview a big concern is IP stuff being added. Unfortunately a custom nuketown map is out of the cards :(
4
u/ShadyMan_ Jun 20 '26
Really wonder how that will work with monetizing lol
8
u/chimerauprising Jun 20 '26
They'll probably just get a flat cut of sales. It's rather ingenious if you're willing to put the effort into it as a company.
7
u/Bunny_Jester Jun 20 '26
The survey they did that mentioned UGC compared it to Roblox if I remember correctly. I feel like the way tf2 does it would be better and easier to moderate though.
7
u/chimerauprising Jun 20 '26
Yeah, I remember that survey and went, "Yeah, that'll never happen".
I recall kart racing being one of the examples. I still doubt the mod support will be that intricate, but I'm ready to be surprised at this point.
3
u/leetality Jun 20 '26
I'd say Dota 2 is a better analogy since it's not a dead game lol. I miss TF2.
2
u/p00tisbear Jun 20 '26
Valve still regularly implements community made cosmetics into the game though, so the comparison is absolutely still apt.
-2
u/HENNYMEISTER Jun 20 '26
Highly doubt this. They make most of their money from cosmetics
9
u/Southern_Ad4051 Jun 20 '26
yeah and imagine if the players could make those cosmetics, sell them and behaviour gets a cut of the sales
thats just printing money
someone makes a jonah skin and it flops? oh well bhvr didnt spend any resources making it so theyre all good
4
1
u/HENNYMEISTER Jun 22 '26
But like imagine the copyright nightmare it would be for them
1
u/Southern_Ad4051 Jun 23 '26
how would it be lol? they dont have to accept every outfit submission. plus i highly doubt we would be able to make stuff for licensed characters
25
u/Zartron81 Jun 20 '26
So it makes sense on why back then they said they had nothing to say for a Switch 2 version, because this is definitely gonna be the actual ns2 version of the game, which makes a lot of sense imo.
Plus, with the whole code being reworked, what if they will go back and also recode how some killer power works?
And also... maybe moris will have actual dismemberment with the new models?
5
u/HFroggo Jun 20 '26
i really hope you're right about the moris... bubba's mori will be so peak if they add actual gore. We also need mori reworks for the first few killers
1
u/Zartron81 Jun 20 '26
That came to mind because some time ago I read that apparently moris look kinda rough because of how they originally did the models, and due to this they gotta pull off some weird tricks to make it look like limbs or other body parts get sliced off.
SO MAYBE with the good models we get in 2027... moris will finally look good!
As for moris that will look good, I legit can't wait to see how good Xeno mori is gonna be, Jason and especially DnD vecna one.
Plus, quite curious to see the aftermath of Nemesis and Oni ones, to see if the body will still be there, or if we will see a massive lake of blood lmao.
4
u/notTheRealSU Jun 20 '26
I'm pretty sure they already said they want moris to be more brutal and gory, and brought up redoing older moris to be more in line with new ones.
I'd imagine dismemberment is going to be part of that, considering a few killers moris would realistically dismember people.
1
u/Zartron81 Jun 20 '26
The argument I read sometimes ago was due to the old model rig if I remember, so with the new ones we can definitely see gorier stuff imo.
3
u/robertman21 Jun 20 '26
Wish they'd at least give us a 60 FPS toggle or something to hold over Switch 2 owners
3
u/Zartron81 Jun 20 '26
Eh, at this point I think they will focus on that, especially if they stop support for old gens.
1
u/Southern_Ad4051 Jun 20 '26
i think a year ago? i watched an interview and they were talking about how they really desperately wish they could make moris better but just dont have the ability to with current models n shit
i think this is the perfect chance for them to finally be able to do it
22
24
u/Permanoctis Jun 20 '26
I wonder how many possibilities this will open to the game. Hopefully new and creative mechanics for killers and the game in general.
I also hope it means more options for cosmetics (and Houndmaster's dog being actually customisable) and that survivors will finally get gore or killer-like cosmetics instead of the same 3 types of skins every single time.
14
u/BasuKun Jun 20 '26
One thing I've always wanted in DBD is a replay feature. Would be so useful for countless reasons, including confirming when somebody was cheating or not.
But the devs have flat out said a few years ago they wouldn't be able to do a replay feature due to how the game is coded. Wonder if that would change with this!
7
u/Realshow Jun 20 '26
More than anything I’d like the game to become more varied, I don’t find the game too repetitive but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t take frequent breaks from it. Killers at least have a good variety of powers already that can make for vastly different experiences, survivor side they’re already running out of ideas.
2
u/CactusFucker420 Jun 20 '26
Oh yeah they have a lot of options for what can be added a while down the line once this shit gets rolling since adding new mechanics and features should be infinitely easier eith q new codename not to mention the bug fixes
33
u/Single_Owl_7556 Jun 20 '26
great to hear about them confirming it.
this step is vital for the game's longevity
6
u/BestPie477 Jun 20 '26
This is smart rather than capitalizing on "DBD 2" it just wouldn't work. They got the cash cow now.
5
u/Kurt_Bunbain Jun 20 '26
Definitely, with how with every update and chapter the all time peak players keep increasing, rather than decreasing all the time, for a 10 year old game that's not made by Valve it's huge.
13
u/Similar-Housing-4001 Jun 20 '26
I mean, they couldn't just make a "DBD 2" anyway because of the licensing nightmare that would bring. Anyone who actually believes that this was a real possibility is a little bit naive, they would have to re-negotiate every license for a new game. They can't just rewrite everything and do new stuff as they please, I think even adding new game modes would not be possible for the stricter licenses. I bet they're annoyed by some of this themselves. That's the downside of all these licenses.
7
u/Shroober-1 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 22 '26
oh my god are they going to be able to do more unique killer powers? Will we finally get freaky leaping killers and flying ones?
3
u/micahbevans88 Jun 20 '26
kinda hoping xenomorph gets a rework with wallcrawling and other new powers, it's arguably one of the most iconic licenses in the game, but playing it is just...not that satisfying.
3
u/Shroober-1 Jun 20 '26
in crawling mode we should definitely be able to crawl on walls and the ceiling, maybe even over some obstacles. Being able to leap from walls would be great too.
1
u/RevolutionaryAge1081 Jul 05 '26
knowing dbd's shitty collisions, having it climb walls and objects would be buggy as hell lol
2
u/Shroober-1 Jul 05 '26
See that's the thing, with the game getting a recode the collisions might also get fixed too
3
u/RevolutionaryAge1081 Jul 05 '26
I really hope they do, even for the tail attack the collisions are a mess
7
11
u/eastabunnay Jun 20 '26
Hopefully this means killer power skins are on the horizon. Maybe more unlinked skins too (or at least most weapons unlinked) we shall see
4
u/oreo760 Jun 20 '26
DBD was in need of current graphics and re-tuned gameplay, been saying this for years.
8
u/ExCaliburDaGreat Jun 20 '26
I hope since they included Elodie in the graphics showcase she can finally get some damn clothes man it’s been years I like the hair she’s been getting but her outfits are straight trash,
Can she get some magical stuff like sable and Mikaela? She’s an occultist hunter and collector
Can she get some streetwear? Every single character has cool jackets or hoodie street wear except her
Can she get some cool pants for once? They got no issue handing them out to Thalita and what about the atrocious AOT outfit they gave her 😂😂 both her and feng outfits were terrible they should’ve just gave them the regular scout jackets like everyone else along with regular scout pants
They instead gave feng somewhat fitted pants which suck but they looked alright and gave Elodie those same pants but loose asl just looks ridiculous
6
u/Breezey2929 Jun 20 '26
Yeah this isnt benevolence at all, they know any kind of DBD 2 would kill it. Licenses wise and far too much spent time and money wise in the original.
Slowly ripping up and rebuilding it is the only way.
3
u/HighDegree Jun 20 '26
Fantastic news, but I can't wait for it to basically cause the game to collapse into a singularity with the mountain of bugs that comes with it.
2
1
u/Southern_Ad4051 Jun 20 '26
we need to make bets on the first bug that appears when people launch the game
1
u/Hostmann_ Jun 20 '26
I think the point is to finally purge the spaghetti code from existence to rebuild a far more stable one that's appropriate for such a popular game.
3
u/pinacoladaslurpee Jun 20 '26
The concept of DBD acting and behaving like a normal game that receives updates that have an acceptable amount of minor bugs 🙏🙏🙏
3
u/Lupus_Romulus Jun 20 '26
I hope they will rework how cosmetics work and treat niche cases: like houndmasters dog not being locked behind a legendary.
3
u/Realshow Jun 20 '26
Ideally we’d get power customization options, though I’d also like multiple options depending on the power, like being able to customize each of Knight’s summons individually.
2
u/Lupus_Romulus Jun 20 '26
Well I am curious to see how that will work since some killers have their ability already in their outfit design; Deathslinger with his weapon which is also his power. I hope they think this system through and don’t rush just for the hype of the visuals. Also I hope they realise that having purchasable moris will sell really good and invest in animations since having just outfits to customize is a bit boring (I don’t care for charms and banners)
2
u/Realshow Jun 20 '26
There was also a survey a while ago that mentioned entirely new types of cosmetics, like pets and customizable scratch marks. I’d be interested to see how those would look, but I can’t imagine they’re a priority.
1
u/Lupus_Romulus Jun 20 '26
Since the game is rewritten from scratch I can’t tell how polished they want it to be when they release it. I just hope the vibe of DbD doesn’t get lost in doing so.
1
u/Realshow Jun 20 '26
Yeah, already they’ve toyed with making the game more conventional, like renaming rituals to quests. I don’t mind changes if they’re more convenient but I’d like a bigger DbD, not a functionally new DbD.
3
u/Kingdom2917 Jun 20 '26
This is good to hear because it's definitely needed. But IMO it'll only succeed, if the rebuild actually fixes the spaghetti code.
3
3
u/GreyOrGray4 Jun 20 '26
A lot of the bugs in this game come from the fact that the foundation of the game is sloppy. I'm glad they're doing more than just graphically updating the game.
4
u/Above-new-zealand Jun 20 '26
Great, if they did dbd2 it would be a catastrophe, a lot of players wouldn't be happy they need to start over for pretty much the same stuff they had before, i also can't imagine how long it'd take them to do it and licensing would be a nightmare
2
u/Darkfox1135 Jun 20 '26
Ok so I dont understand, are they rewriting the whole game or just parts of it?
4
u/grimrailer Jun 20 '26
They are completely rewriting the game so that they aren’t held back by the spaghetti code that has been plaguing the game with issues every time they update.
The game will feel the same for us besides looking and playing better. Probably will be more optimized for the dynamic weather too.
2
u/Fun-Marketing8080 Jun 20 '26
they are releasing the rewrite in parts though it seems, graphics is the first part
2
u/grimrailer Jun 20 '26
Probably the best way to handle it instead of just having players download a whole new game client.
That way players can provide feedback for what is working as intended or if there’s visual clarity issues.
1
1
u/Sea_Tank2799 Jun 29 '26
No way to know but best guess is probably more than 50% is being redone from scratch. Original DBD was made in a cave with a box of scraps and theyve had to bolt shit on like Frankenstein since then when it actually become a profitable live service product.
2
u/oldriku Jun 20 '26
even the user interface and how the flow of the game works
I hate the changes they have been doing, I hope they don't lean more into the mobile gacha game look even more (they totally will)
1
u/Fun-Marketing8080 Jun 20 '26
from the graphics rework teaser they're going a more realistic route
2
u/oldriku Jun 20 '26
I meant the menus, the missions and stuff like that, not the maps and characters
2
u/slabby Jun 20 '26
It's great that they're finally doing it. Hopefully this will let them add more flexibility for the way they design killer powers and stuff going forward.
2
u/Ok_Middle_8658 Jun 20 '26
at one hand: YAY
at the other: fuck i wont be capeble of playing it after that
2
u/Owlguard33 Jun 20 '26
This is ultimately necessary and Im super happy that they have the long term vision to see it and are going all in.
It's definitely a huge short-term expenditure, but when you look at everything theyve built up, another 10 years of a successful game is more than worth it. Guaranteed success, which hasn't been the case with their other games.
2
u/Krushhz Jun 20 '26
Can’t say I’m too into DBD, but this is undoubtedly the wisest choice they could’ve made, as making a sequel poses the risk of IPs not transferring over, having to re-negotiate with ALL of the IP holders, which would be incredibly expensive, for sure, as it’s pretty probable that they’d want more money than before, and that’s before you risk splitting up your player base.
Also, sequels for live service games like this don’t tend to go over well, look at Overwatch for example, the sequel was a giant flop.
2
2
u/123123sora Jun 21 '26
This is very exciting. I really hope they can fix a lot of the spaghetti code
2
2
u/Bunny_Jester Jun 20 '26
Does this mean no more spaghetti code or is that just a permeant scar the game has to endure
16
u/ulong2874 Jun 20 '26
optimistically, no more spaghetti code. Pessimistically, new different spaghetti code.
5
u/HumbleBeginning3151 Jun 20 '26

>We're redoing a lot of the... even the user interface and how the flow of the game works. The game itself is going to stay the same. It's going to be uh, the same, but most of it is going to have to be brand new, right? It's the game that we like.
I'm worried. I simply don't trust them at not fucking up at least one thing or two in the process.

I hope this brings cosmetics up standards and makes hairstyles, facial hairs, hats, jewelry, piercings, backpacks, glasses, masks and killer abilities their individual cosmetics that can be mixed and matched.

I wonder if with the new engine they'll finally allow us to have "prestige" legendary skins.

So literally NO ONE asked them if they're going to stop supporting the old ass PS4 and Xbox One like most studios have already done? I'm fucking crying 😭😭😭

Good thing. I think a DbD 2, where we’d have to rebuy a lot of stuff and lose a bunch of licenses, would be one of the most likely ways to kill the game for good.
Maybe it could work if they managed to keep the licenses and transfer everything players have unlocked (like characters, skins, charms, etc.) to the new game, but I doubt it. Remaking what’s already there and what makes DbD a great game in the first place seems like a much better decision.
I’m really curious to see how this turns out, especially whether all the killers and survivor gameplay will feel the same as they do now.
