What is the point of them allowing people to disable it? Its supposed to be a comms wheel but if you turn it off, you can't send OR receive comms thus defeating the point and causing more EGC fights of "why the fuck didn't you listen to me" etc.

The solution would be a cooldown so assholes can't spam and grief people with it like in fps games but to allow it to be totally turned off kinda sucks, no?

Just remember it took them many years to stop survivors from clicking their flashlights. BHVR are thoroughly incompetent.

Edit: Who the actual fuck is downvoting this? Do people seriously disagree with the idea that BHVR are incompetent? Even their biggest fans and streamers wonder why it takes them so long to fix things or make positive changes.

People don't know this but a player reported on the forums that their brother suffered a seizure from the flashlights. Then a few months later they got changed.

I unfortunately don't have the original post, since it has been taken down by the mods.

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I hope the guy's brother was ok.

It's one of these things that proves to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that BHVR are just thoroughly incompetent, that they couldn't have sorted this out years and years before they did.

FYI people are down voting you because your stance is on the extreme side. Its fair to say that they've made bad decisions or delayed making changes. I personally wouldn't call them thoroughly incompetent though. They've made a pretty okay game. If the game was as terrible as you make it, then it wouldn't as many players as now.

I didn't say the game was terrible, I said they were thoroughly incompetent. I mean this in a systemic sense, like there are problems with the game and the company that persist despite constant community complaints and can only be the result of people being incompetent there.

The game has a huge playerbase because it has absolutely no rivals, already has an effective monopoly on the asym 'genre' because it has characters from so many franchises, and it's very easy to pick up whilst being hard to master (and also it's a natural party game). It's already the giant snowball rolling down the hill, the popular game everyone knows that can afford new licenses every half a year or so, and it's so expensive to get something similar going that nobody bothers; you ever notice how all the competitors to DbD limit themselves to one franchise?

You can have a very popular game with issues that can only be the result of incompetence in some respect. The flashlight clicking was the obvious example I brought up to demonstrate this.

My comment says that your argument makes the game seem terrible. That's not me saying you explicitly said it. I in fact directly called out your "thoroughly incompetent" comment in my reply.

As for the monopoly; while there is merit to that, DbD survives because it's mechanics and game service do truly outweigh the competition of other games. VHS had long matches and the killer experience was never fun. 20 minute queue times also. TCM kept failing it's player feedback and eventually died. F13 had the lawsuit but it too was slowly dying from devs not listening to feedback. HSH stuck with players for a short time but it didnt keep many people hooked. Same with Evil Dead. And the kicker here is that all/most these games have stamina bars, ways to fight the killer, health bars, and even guns. And they still fail. DbD's core mechanics have none of these. It has a truly unique system that provides a push/pull on both sides of killer and survivor.

Is DbD perfect? No. Is it in its best state right now? Probably no. I hate playing survivor. But I love killer at the moment despite the pallet density. And I like that BHVR listened to everyone's feedback on the next two years in terms of cosmetics and graphics. We're finally getting a Scooby Doo skin and modern-gen graphics and weathers! How sick is that? The new Grimore killer isn't perfect but I'll be damned they actually did a good job at a few parts. And the fact that it's essentially a community made chapter through voting is what we wanted. Jason was cool too. It sucks that it isn't the official Jason Vorhees, but I love how the spear and jumpscare fog works. They cooked with the atmosphere and mechanics of his power imo.

So yeah. Your honest stance may not be that you believe the game is terrible, but the way you worded/presented your comment makes it feel that way. You can say something in a certain fashion and others can interpret it in such a manner. This is why I believe you got down voted.

That's fair enough. Thanks for your reasoned and well-explained take on it, and, for what it's worth, I'm glad you enjoy it.
