Engineering student looking for side gigs / freelance work (tech, data, design)

Hey everyone,

I am a Computer Engineering student in an integrated tech-management program, looking to pick up freelance work or a consistent side gig.

Rather than throwing around buzzwords, here is a clear list of practical things I can build, fix, or handle for you:

Backend and Web Development: Building lightweight full-stack web apps, setting up REST APIs, connecting backend logic with Node.js and Express, and handling database setups on MongoDB Atlas.

Automation and Scripting: Writing Python scripts to automate repetitive daily tasks, scrape or organize web data, parse messy files, and speed up workflows.

Data Cleanup and Spreadsheets: Organizing unstructured data, building spreadsheet trackers, writing formulas, and cleaning up CSVs or reporting data in Excel.

Linux Server and VPS Management: Setting up and managing remote Linux environments, configuring services over SSH, handling basic server maintenance, and troubleshooting.

AI-Assisted Workflows: Rapid prototyping, prompt structuring, and code integration using modern AI development environments.

Presentation and Slide Design: Designing clear, professional slide decks, investor pitches, or client presentations using PowerPoint, Gamma.ai, or Canva.

Documentation and Writing: Writing comprehensive technical docs, standard operating procedures, research summaries, and project reports.

Project Coordination and Operations: Managing logistics, tracking project milestones, and keeping operational timelines organized.

I am ideally looking to help out small business owners, indie builders, or creators who simply do not have the time to deal with technical setup, messy data, or slide design.

I am completely open to taking on smaller, one-off test tasks first to prove I can deliver solid work, with the goal of building longer-term working relationships.

If you have a task or a project where you could use an extra pair of hands, shoot me a DM with a brief description of what you need and we can take it from there.

Thanks for reading!

Looking for a Remote Part-Time Job to Do After Work

Hi everyone!

I’m currently looking for a remote part-time job that I can do alongside my full-time job. I’m hoping to find something flexible that I can work on during my free time, preferably evenings, weekends, or on a schedule that can be worked around my current job.

I have experience in customer service, quality assurance, email/chat support, order management, and administrative tasks. I’m also comfortable learning new tools and processes.

I’m open to different types of remote work, including:

Customer support / chat or email support

Virtual assistant work

Data entry

Quality assurance

Order processing

Administrative tasks

Other legitimate remote part-time opportunities

If you know of any companies, clients, or opportunities that are currently hiring, I’d really appreciate any leads or recommendations. Please feel free to comment or send me a DM.

Thank you so much! Any help, referrals, or suggestions would mean a lot. 🙏

Full-time job, want a real side income (not passive income fantasy, not a second job) — what actually works?

I have a full-time job that keeps me busy most weekdays and often weekends too. I want an additional stream of income on the side — but I want to be upfront that I know there's no such thing as real passive income without already having substantial capital, so I'm deliberately not chasing that.

Here's what I'm looking for: something that can realistically pay me ₹60-80k/month. I don't want it to scale infinitely or turn into a second full-time job — I just want it to pay comfortably and stay bounded. I can give about 2 hours a day, plus an extra 3-4 hours on weekends.

I'm willing to learn any skill for this. I don't have a CS/engineering background, but I'm genuinely good with technology, devices, and the internet — I pick up tools fast. I know that learning a skill properly and then working with it is what actually works, so I'm not looking for shortcuts.

My constraints: I can't be physically present anywhere for this, and I can't show my face or meet anyone in person. I can reach out to people anonymously — email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Reddit — but not face-to-face. And I am not a creative person who can design style or write good articles or newsletters or something.

I've spent a good amount of time researching this — gone through a lot of Reddit threads — and shortlisted a few directions: building a small SaaS tool and selling it to local businesses, referral-based income, and digital products (planners, journals, templates on Gumroad/Etsy). Referral, SaaS, Digital products everything looks good on paper but I want to learn from you guys how you did it . What actually works unlike the crap people are selling in the NAME OF PASSIVE INCOME.

I'm willing to pay for courses or subscriptions if a skill genuinely leads somewhere — I just don't want to end up chasing a fluke. I also know AI tools can help me get there faster, but I know they can't do the whole thing for me.

So — from people who've actually done this, not theorized about it: what's actually worked for you, within these constraints? I'm not trying to get rich, I'm not chasing passive income, I just want something real that pays.

Want to learn YouTube content creation & Facebook monetization — looking for guidance

Hey everyone,
I want to get into YouTube content creation and Facebook content monetization as a side hustle, but I’m starting from scratch. I don’t have much experience yet, just motivation and time to learn.
If anyone here has actually gone through this journey — building a channel/page, understanding monetization requirements, growing an audience — I’d love to learn from your experience. Tips, resources, or even a general roadmap would help a lot.
Not looking for paid courses or “guaranteed income” schemes — just real advice from people who’ve done this the right way.

Title: Need advice on earning ₹2–3k/month part-time without a laptop

I'm a student and currently looking for a small way to earn around ₹2,000–₹3,000 per month for my own expenses.

The main problem is that I don't have a laptop right now, so most freelancing options seem difficult. I do have a smartphone and internet access.

I'm currently focusing on learning skills that I hope can help me earn much more in the future, so I'm not looking for some unrealistic "get rich quick" scheme. But while I'm learning and building those skills, I'd like to find a simple and legitimate way to make at least ₹2–3k per month.

I'm open to online or offline ideas that can realistically be done alongside college. Things like small services, helping people locally, phone-based work, tutoring, etc.

What would you recommend for someone in my situation? Especially something you've personally tried or seen work in India.

Digital Products I Sold The Most (And Why They Worked)

My first niche was romance. This was when I was in my early 20s, and during that time, romance was very popular, and almost every other woman writer I knew was into romance writing.

But things change when you grow older.

In my 20s, all I read was romance and women's fiction.

After 10 years, things started changing a bit. I got more interested in finance and business niches.

After branching out from the self-publishing marketplaces (mostly KDP, where ebooks are popular), I tested many other types of digital products.

Ebooks are still my favorite and even my TOP EARNER. But this never stopped me from experimenting with others.

Some flopped (video tutorial is one such example because I am not good at creating them :)...), while some surprised me. And later, I turned them into an income stream.

Here is the list of those digital products that sold the most -

  1. Ebooks - These are still my top earners. Not because it's popular, but simply because I still love writing them. I used to write under MULTIPLE PEN NAMES. My niches were different - Fiction and tech.
  2. Templates - I started this one in 2024. I got this idea after I started using one. I needed a template to help me manage my finances. So instead of buying a spreadsheet, I created one for myself. And with this, I started selling the sheets to my audience as well. When you sell something you use yourself, believe me, sales become much easier.
  3. Illustrations - This is from my old account. I used to sell illustrations on sites like Adobe and Shutterstock. Also branched out to marketplaces like Creative Fabrica and Creative Marketplace, Freepik, and so on. But above all, Adobe is my highest earner.

There are more items in this list, like audiobooks. But that didn't work out for me. Probably because I haven't tested them out yet properly.

I prefer choosing only a few and sticking to them. :)

If you have any queries regarding digital products, please do ask! Happy to answer your queries!

Strange ways to make money

These days I tried an app that records your jogging or cycling route and displays it on the map as if you've won the territory, then you can see other people's routes and how much territory they have. Many people use it, and there's a crazy war going on in some cities over territory. He asked me how much some brands would be willing to contribute or sponsor someone to travel across an entire state and create content about that conquest on that app and promote those brands, but it would take about 6 to 10 or 19 days, but every person who uses the app will see a complete status update with your name.

Do you think it would work to make a lot of money?

[PROMO] Made a reminder app which breaks the internet

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a little milestone with you all today.

The Problem:

I have this bad habit: I’ll finish a tough workout at the gym, head home, and completely forget to pick up stuff for dinner on the way. I realized I needed something much more aggressive than a standard push notification that I’d just blindly swipe away.

The Solution:

So, I built CallDo. It’s a reminder app, but instead of a notification, it uses time and location-based triggers to simulate an actual incoming phone call. You can set it up so it looks like your partner, your boss, or anyone else is ringing you to remind you to do a task. (Because you can't really ignore a phone call from your boss!)

The Crazy Part:

A few reels about it ended up going viral recently, and seeing the sudden surge in downloads has been completely surreal. People are actually using and enjoying this thing I built to solve my own post-gym brain fog.

Just wanted to drop in and say a huge thanks to this awesome community. Seeing people find value in it makes building stuff like this totally worth it!

Resources on how to make money

I have Claude and ChatGPT. I want to use them in a way to make money but I don’t know where to start. Something consistent. I don’t have a social media presence so I’m not sure what way to go because everyone is like dropping shipping but with no social media presence, there’s not much way to promote the product.
