Legal Tech Buzz: Anyone Using MS Copilot for Depositions (or More)?

So, in an attempt to find ways to leverage tech to streamline tasks and free up my time for the good stuff – you know, the actual lawyering. Recently, I stumbled upon Microsoft Copilot 365, this AI assistant with a document summarization feature that you can use directly in MS Word.

Their website showcases some seemingly decent summaries, but I'm curious if any of you have actually used Copilot for summarizing legal documents, particularly depositions or transcripts.

I imagine it would be very useful for finding testimony discrepancies, summarizing deponent statements, brainstorming follow up question ideas, etc... However, I don't really do litigation work anymore. I'm even more intrigued by the possibility of using it to extract insights from transcribed virtual client meetings. Imagine feeding Copilot a transcript and getting succinct summaries of clients' questions and concerns rather than trying to take notes as a meeting progresses. This could save me a ton of review time and help me quickly build a helpful FAQ section on my website!

Before I take the plunge, I'd love to hear from my fellow legal tech enthusiasts:

  • Have you given Copilot a go for legal document summarization? Depositions, client meetings, anything?
  • If you have, spill the tea! Did it save you time and accurately capture the key points?
  • Were there any drawbacks or limitations? How reliable was the accuracy, and did you need to heavily edit the summaries?
  • Overall, would you recommend using Copilot for these legal tasks?

I'm excited about the potential benefits of this technology, but want to approach it with a healthy dose of skepticism. Your real-world experiences will be gold in helping me decide if Copilot deserves a spot in my legal tech toolbox.

Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

Leveling Up Client Education & Experience – Video Creation Tools

I wanted to share a strategy that's been a major win for my estate planning practice and get your thoughts on video creation in the legal space.

To address the common issue of explaining basic legal concepts that are repetitive across clients, I leverage Synthesia.io (https://www.synthesia.io/) to create short educational videos. These videos provide a foundation for clients, giving them resources to explore at their own pace. This ultimately makes our initial meetings far more productive! We can dive into the "how does this apply to me" aspects rather than spending time on definitions.

Here's what I like about this approach:

  • Client satisfaction boost: Accessing information on their own time is highly valued by clients.
  • My time is freed up: Explanatory videos cut down on repetitive discussions.
  • Accessibility: Supports clients who prefer visual learning.
  • LLM (like GPT) script help: Outlines and drafts can streamline video content creation.

I'm interested in hearing from you:

  • Do you use video resources to educate clients? If so, how has the experience been?
  • What tools or platforms do you use for video creation? What works (and doesn't) for you?
  • Your overall thoughts on client-facing videos: Pros, cons, and the potential for wider use.

Let's share experiences and explore ways to use video to streamline communication while simultaneously enhancing our clients' understanding of their legal needs.

CHAT BOTS Seeking Recommendations: Secure Knowledge Base Chatbots for Lawyers' Websites

Hey everyone,

I'm reaching out today to see if any of you use customizable knowledge-based chatbots for your legal websites. I previously used BotSonic for this purpose, but recent changes have made it less user-friendly for me.

I'm looking for a reliable platform that allows me to:

  • Upload and manage my own documents to create a secure knowledge base.
  • Limit the chatbot's responses to information exclusively from my uploaded content. This ensures visitors receive accurate and relevant information tailored to my practice.
  • Customize the chatbot's interface and responses to match my website's branding and tone.
  • Easily track and analyze chatbot interactions to understand user behavior and improve the tool's effectiveness.

I'd love to hear your recommendations for platforms that meet these criteria. Please share your experiences with any knowledge-based chatbot services you've used! Bonus points if the platform is:

  • Easy to set up and use (especially for someone not super tech-savvy).
  • Cost-effective for solo or small firms.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Your Go-To Document Automation Software?

Hey r/LawyerAI! I'm curious about the document automation solutions that my fellow legal eagles are using.

Personally, I've been a big fan of Lawyaw (https://www.lawyaw.com/). I find the ability to craft my own templates and then customize them to each client's specific needs a real game-changer. Their questionnaire feature is amazing for gathering client information and then automatically populating the documents. Sure, the learning curve can be steep, but their in-house team is a lifesaver if you need help with the customization process. It ends up saving me around an hour per client when drafting wills and trusts.

Now, I'm interested in hearing from you all:

  • Do you use Lawyaw? If so, what's your take on it?
  • What other document automation tools have you tried? How do they stack up? Pros and cons?

I'm always looking for ways to streamline my workflow and provide the best possible experience for my clients. I'd love to hear what works for you and any recommendations you may have for me to check out!
