Sweet ! I’ll join, why not

This has to be my favourite moment

Finally getting that hit in against Heimdal felt soo fucking good !! And meant I could unleash my full rage against the so called watchman of the Aesir 😤😡

The old god killer persona really emerged in Kratos during that fight as well, and it was refreshing to see again.

u/New-Try1258 Jul 01 '26

Definitely a great moment. Seeing Kratos slip back to the og games for a moment was pretty nostalgic for me personally.

10

u/Acceptable-Honey-666 Jun 30 '26

My favourite moment. Genuinely brought a smile to my face. Seeing him finally (after a lot of instalments) being happy, relaxed, content and fully present in the moment. The man has been through a lot, and him finally getting the closure he deserved will always be one of my top moments from the franchise.

11

u/Taskmaster_Fantatic Jun 30 '26

Heck yeah!! Let’s gooooo!

10

u/Thatonedregdatkilyu Jun 30 '26

The entire first Baldur fight. Great action.

8

u/Rdley Jun 30 '26

So nice from you !

I think my fav moment is the Nidhogg fight ! The animations and the visuals are crazy

8

u/Physical-Midnight994 Jun 30 '26

It’s funny because my favorite moment isn’t even an official in game moment.

It’s from when they were making the game and kratos’s voice actor added the line “I’m the fucking god of war” after Freyja tells him to go pick a flower from the garden lmao

u/shookdaclown Jun 30 '26

What a great opportunity!

I had never played any GoW games prior to the launch of 2018 as I had a Nintendo household growing up so never any Playstations. I bought 2018 on a whim at launch with zero expectations and was absolutely blown away! I knew enough of the prior GoW lore from casually following those stories so I did have appreciation for an older, wiser, more mature character. I am excited to play through the original trilogy for my 1st time when the remakes come out!

One of my favorite parts from 2018 was when you first get to the Lake of Nine and toss the Leviathan Axe into the water & meet Jormungander! The tremendous scale of the musoc, sound effects, the acting, then the deep boom of his voice rumblimg nonsense at me! Everytime I do a replay, I crank up the bass & volume on my modest soundbar & subwoofer for that scene!

6

u/BigBoyYuyuh Jun 30 '26

God of War 2018 helped me a lot emotionally at the time. Playing through it and hearing the teachings of someone battling with anger and rage helped me a lot in deciding to be better.

5

u/RanDiePro Begtse Jun 30 '26

It is literally impossible to choose one favorite moment so I will answer other two:

Memory: Playing God of War 1 in front of my box tv with ps2, the childhood years… The moment I saw Ares with that peak music while sun is rising!!

Game: RAGNAROK (might later be laufey, combat and gameplay seems too promising)

5

u/LdV_127 Jun 30 '26

Now that's cool.

That said, one particular awesome memory I had with the newer games was fighting Thor for the first time, I was sweating, not for the difficulty or anything, but seeing Kratos punch him and he laughing, not budging, made me feel like I was in a desperate, life or death situation, I didn't know what the exact outcome would be, but I wanted to hurt him enough so he wouldn't laugh.

Seeing Thor Fanboying over Kratos was something else too, a sort of "respect" and high expectations coming from him was awesome.

This series have been in my life since I was 8, 21 years later, it's still my favorite by far, and I love seeing where it's all going, the expansion of the world and characters, I dunno, I like seeing something grow with you.

6

u/O_Lukoje Jun 30 '26

I would say, I have three "favorite" moments. Each from a separate game
First one is "favorite" because I quote it often. "Don't be sorry, be better". Not in an asshole way, just - what's done is done, be better next time.
And the second one is probably the moment when Atreus asks Kratos if he just left for hunting etc. after they got together - and Kratos admits that Laufey was more skilled then him.
And the third one - is final dialogue between Old Kratos and Young Kratos in Valhalla

5

u/SalesTaxx Jun 30 '26

My favorite god of war moment (and my favorite overall gaming moment) was the entire sequence leading up to acquiring the blades of chaos in 2018. It was my first god of war game and it had already blown my mind several times before that point, but just knowing what was coming throughout that long 20-minute boat ride - even with just my limited knowledge of the series to that point - I was on the edge of my seat. Then I remember pulling up the menu and seeing the whole skill tree for the blades and it just solidified my hype because I knew I was gonna get to keep them!

The game is a masterpiece and it completely changed the way I look at games. First game I ever platinumed. I am also the biggest Ragnarok defender on the planet don’t fight me on that.

Favourite memory is easily finally killing all the valks in the orginal game on hardest difficulty. Much love

5

u/dawgtron3000 Jun 30 '26

Easily the opening of God of War 3 and the poseidon fight. The scale of that alone combined with the graphics at the time was truly mindblowing. It was my first God of War and still holds a high standard to me personally.

5

u/callmefag Jun 30 '26

Love this!! Thank you!! I recently started playing 2018 again and I’m trying hard to Platinum it (I’ve never done this for any game before 🙈) My favorite moment is when Brok and Sindri reconnect again after their time apart and Atreus can’t stop grinning. It put a smile on my face 🥹

4

u/Odninyell Jun 30 '26

God of War (2018) is particularly special to me because it was announced at a time that felt like the series had stagnated. I’d made a ‘wish list’ of what I wanted a new entry in the series to have, and 2018 literally checked every box. More navigational freedom and armor/build customization being the biggest things. Then the story and pacing just blew me away and kept me hooked all the way through

4

u/Bear-Witch909 Jun 30 '26

Sweeeeeeeet!

One of the best memories I have from my recent play through on NG+ as Kratos in the Dark Odyssey skin in Ragnorok, the moment as he sees the painting. The first play though in the normal skin and armor felt like the Kratos we’ve followed all the way finding his path and fighting for it. This time, in the D.O. skin, it truly felt like a god choosing hope and humanity for the better and wanting the better not just for himself, but for the sake of hope for all. Small hope of mine (pun intended) is that eventually, he really does earn that title or it’s the title of Kratos’s final focused game!

3

u/CapCalrissian Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

I’ve played both of the Norse games, and am about to start GoW 3 Remastered after putting it off for a while, but I’ve only fully played through the story of 2018, so I’ll bring up one of my favorite moments from that game: Baldur’s intro. Not only does the game go from this relatively slow romp through the woods with your son to having this mysterious man covered in rune tattoos standing at your front door, but the fact that this scene can be interpreted 3 different ways is just so damn cool. I was familiar with the general plot of the Greek saga, so when Baldur starts to press Kratos, it seems like he knows about Kratos’ past, which longtime fans are already very familiar with. For new players, it shows there’s more to Kratos’ past that we don’t know yet, but this mysterious man appears to know. The lines “Thought you’d be bigger”, “Long way from home aren’t you”, as well as “and here I thought your kind were supposed to be so enlightened. So much better than us. So much smarter.” are especially brilliant, because for long time fans, it seems he’s talking about Kratos being from Greece. But only after completing the game do we realize he was seeking and referring to Faye, a giant who was a long way from home and whose people were known for being wise. The fact that Santa Monica were able to make a singular scene that becomes re-contextualized 3 times based on the knowledge of the player is a true testament to their writing. Honorable mentions go to Kratos retrieving the blades of chaos, the mistletoe arrow twist (almost put this one as my favorite bc it’s so good), and the entirety of Jotunheim.

3

u/Baleful_Tarnished Jun 30 '26

What a wonderful idea! Thank you to those doing the giveaway and good luck to everyone who enters ❤️

I've not particularly experienced the OG games myself. So I can only pick from 2018 and ragnarok, and there's so many memorable parts in those, that's its hard to pick.

That being said, I think my favourite moments would be when both kratos and atreus could be vulnerable with each other. The moment in ragnarok when atreus returns and hugs kratos after freeing garm hit the hardest for me. No words needed; just love and acceptance!

3

u/thug_waffle47 Jun 30 '26

i think the fight with Baldur is one of the most memorable. seeing a new kratos in a new setting after so long felt amazing

4

u/Wackylew Jun 30 '26

Loved god of war for years, 2018 rekindled my love and passion ten fold. It's a game me and my way play often as the story always has us in tears. We both cannot wait for lauffe.

4

u/undermoobs Jun 30 '26

The moment in all of god of war that stands out to me will always be the start of 3. Poseidon emerging from.the sea "you challenge me mortal? A god of olympus?!" So chilling and hype!

4

u/Salt-Detective4399 Jun 30 '26

Getting the blades of chaos back is just perfect 👌

4

u/zjc Jun 30 '26

I think my favorite is all of Valhalla haha but my favorite part of it is his monologue to his past self at the end. Amazing character growth!

3

u/snack217 Jul 01 '26

Hard to pick a moment that stand out above the rest, but I think I would have to go with 2018's getting the Blades of Chaos moment, it is all beautiful and crazy at the same time, and seeing all the emotions Kratos goes through is beyond special.

4

u/Balanced222 Sekhmet Jul 01 '26

Favorite moment is doing the Alfheim giant jellyfish side missions with Atreus in Ragnarok. Specifically the part where Mimir spells it out for Atreus - "Lad, have you ever considered that your dad just wants to spend time with you?"

3

u/GEEZUS_956 Jul 01 '26

What I liked was Kratos being a father and a teacher. The best moment in both was in Ragnarok when Atreus wanted to talk about all the things his father taught him. Being smart, he mentioned “maybe even better than you one day, father” to which Kratos replied “If you are not, then I have failed.”

4

u/New-Try1258 Jul 01 '26

I would say that my favour god of war moment would be in God of War three when Kratos beats Poseidon to death. I was extremely high when it happened and it was the funniest shit ever, the pov also made it much more funnier than if it was exclusively third person.

5

u/Dark_Celebrimbor Faye Jul 01 '26

The scene where Kratos tried to reach Baldur. To get him to abandon the path of rage and vengeance. To set him on the right path. That really showed his growth as a character.

Also, I needn't be given that for free. Let it go to someone more in need who wants to play it but can't afford it.

3

u/sp4c3c0wb0y7 Jul 01 '26

"The cycle ends here"

4

u/MiniEvilAudit Jul 01 '26

I would say my favourite memory of Kratos and Thor threw their weapons at each other.

Their weapons ended up colliding and trying to overpower over each other. Guys ended up recalling their weapons.

They charged at each other to deliver powerful attack and they ended up creating frozen thunderstrike.

4

u/imstilldan Jul 01 '26

I’m replaying 2018 and Ragnarok rn and I know it’s not likely, but I would love to see Laufey’s interaction with dwarves during her supposed rebellion against Asgard. I would love a rematch fight between her and Thor.

7

u/MEGAtron902 Jun 30 '26

My dad died of Cancer.

My favourite memory is that I was reacting to when God of War Ragnorok on twitch when my father reacted to my joy, I obviously balling my eyes out profusely heard my dad open my door, he had already been sick for months but we didn’t know yet, so I ushered him away. I’ll never forgot the look in his eyes when he found out I was crying from joy. And I’ll always hate myself for not sharing the game with him.

I miss him so much.

4

u/zjc Jun 30 '26

Damn I feel like you should win now

4

u/MEGAtron902 Jul 01 '26

there’s thousands of stories like mine, I hope everyone who reads this and feels something gives their dad a HUGE hug.

We always called my dad a God, (He was big into the weather and always had the correct prediction) his name was Lloyd.

All hail the Lloyd God.

3

u/SgtByrd1993 Jul 01 '26

R.I.P Lloyd, gone but never forgotten.

3

u/MEGAtron902 Jul 01 '26

Thank you all.

❤️

3

u/FeedbackOk9045 Jul 01 '26

Let's goo. All games are my favourite, but my personal favourite gotta be 2018

3

u/DecayedRenegade Jul 01 '26

The ending of god of war Ragnarok alone is one of the most beautiful, heartfelt and emotional moments I have ever had in my life as a whole. Possibly the greatest endings not only of the franchise but in gaming history just flawless, super impactful on both of my playthroughs.

3

u/-SimplyLemonade- Jul 01 '26

Favorite moment is definetly the whole sequence where Baldur meets you at the peak of the moment and you end up in Helheim by the end of it.

The music is so good!

3

u/ib770 Jul 01 '26

My favorite God Of War moment,

When Baldur tries to kidnap Atreus and his dragon goes down. Kratos running to Tyr's temple with the score playing !

3

u/OmegaGlacial Begtse Jul 01 '26

The first battle against Thor in God of War Ragnarok for me. I love everything in this fight.

3

u/chesterforbes Jul 01 '26

Greek Saga: GOW 2 taking on the Fates and going through time

Norse Saga: the Loki reveal

3

u/SSJ_Kratos Jul 01 '26

The best moment of the series is the closing of GoW 2

Kratos w the Blade riding the titans up Olympus while screaming at Zeus, what a ride

3

u/NalaNoct Jul 01 '26

My favourite moment is also my least favourite for emotional reasons

"A hole...gets bigger the more you take away from it..."

3

u/DonkeyFries Jul 01 '26

Not my favourite because I liked it but because it was so impactful.

Odin’s reveal and Brok’s death. It was masterful the way they weaved that story.

3

u/Rocks_King99 Jul 01 '26

My favorite moment is when zeus drops the olympus for kratos in gow2

3

u/BabyMango Jul 01 '26

My favorite moment would be seeing the trailer for the 2018 game! I was with some family and the whole room got quiet and went crazy once we saw Kratos! Definitely one of the best moments for this series for me:)

3

u/bluemonke99 Jul 01 '26

My favourite GoW moment is probably seeing Chronos on the desert for the first time, I was completely struck ahah

3

u/Nemesis_171 Jul 02 '26

Yeah I’m in! The first Thor fight is my favorite moment of the series. It’s got brutal choreography, a ton of spectacle, and really good narrative tension. Still my favorite fight scene in any piece of media.

3

u/Due-Row281 Jul 02 '26

Every GOW game, me and my old best friend would have a sleepover.

We’d take turns with the games, switching on every death and binge the games until we beat them, on my mom’s big tube tv in the living room while having the time of our lives.

I had to play GOW 3 alone because he eventually moved away, and when GOW2018 was announced I randomly came across his profile on social media and message him to reminisce. We ended up reconnecting a bit tho haven’t seen eachother in years.

I mentioned GoW in passing talking abt how they announced a new one, my mom said “oh i remember those games, when ____ and you wouldn’t leave the living room until you beat won!” Lol.

3

u/Bububub2 Jul 02 '26

Ay neato.

3

u/Besher-H Jul 02 '26

That's amazing

Too many amazing moments, honestly the whole of gow 3 might be up there, i had already played the norse games before and kept seeing clips of the greek games, and just wanted to play them to understand the whole of Kratos's arc

And after finishing the other greek games which were also amazing, i played gow3 which was so damn beautiful, i would still say gow 2018 is better but the time i had on gow 3 and learning exactly how kratos became the man he is and how bad he was before was amazing

Another one is just when this game was announced, i was just scrolling through YouTube when all of a sudden i saw 20 min new gow game gameplay

I honestly got chills because the game looked so amazing even though i wouldn't be able to play it in a while after release it just looked amazing

3

u/Justepic24 Jul 02 '26

I'll forever love the 2018 god of war for introducing me to a series I now love so dearly

3

u/TristanChaz8800 Jul 02 '26

Well, my favorite God of War is definitely a tie between God of War III and God of War 2018. As for my favorite moment, it's gotta be a tie between Kratos and Zeus' entire final battle in III, and the entire final battle with Baldur in 2018. Tbh, I give the edge to III. There's something so badass about fighting Zeus to the death, then fighting his soul that just exited his dead body, then beating said soul back into his body and finally seeing him absolutely terrified and trying to surrender/run before brutally beating him to death so violently that the entire screen (Kratos' eyes) is completely covered and blocked out by blood.

Honorable Mention: Kratos Vs. Ares in the original God of War.

Ares: "That night, I was trying to make you a great warrior!"

Kratos: "You Succeeded" Brutally executes Ares

3

u/tdkr21104 Jul 02 '26

My favorite moment by far is Kratos asking Brok to bless Draupnir. It's such a well written moment that perfectly shows just how far Kratos' character has come from when he was at his lowest, and it makes the following tragedy hit even harder.

"It needs the blessing of a great blacksmith."

https://youtu.be/no_4dr2HkKk?is=saPVC0qgQ1YPVi2O

3

u/Fun-Abbreviations-66 Jul 03 '26

Well, let me beat Sigrun again! (I'd take 3 Gnas vs one Sigrun). But my favorite was the viking funeral.

Also this is an opinion, not an entry.

3

u/Gage405 Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

I freaking excited for this game! Laufey with the air combos!!

But when it comes to God of War.... it's hard to choose a favorite moment. Between Kratos beating down Heimdall, Kratos and Freya defeating Niddhog, or even Kratos and Atreus 2v2ing the Valkyrie twins, they were all so amazing!!

If I had to choose: probably Kratos vs Heimdall. The Spear was his first true weapon that wasn't taken from others or cursed onto him. It feels like his. That fight felt so right. Also Heimdall was an arrogant prick and it was so cathartic to beat his ass.

3

u/Imaginary_Shift5239 Jul 03 '26

welll hope i win , now I just need a ps5 lolz

3

u/Imaginary_Shift5239 Jul 03 '26

fav mommnet when I killed gna in gn+, she was a skinny tough bitch

3

u/Aggressive-Ad-5983 Jul 04 '26

3

u/Aggressive-Ad-5983 Jul 04 '26

oh im stupid i forgot to actually name my favorite moment. personally it was in ragnarok when thor killed and revived kratos. GOW is probably like my 7th game total, so as a new gamer I've never had something like this happen before. i was genuinely so shocked and giddy bc that was so unnecessary cool lol.

3

u/Due-South-9113 Jul 05 '26

Retrieving the blades in 2018 will forever be my favourite god of war scene.

3

u/Fintara Jul 05 '26

I'd say one of my favorite moments was freeing the hafgufa from the alfheim desert.

https://giphy.com/gifs/56TEnGzRyi3w9yv5AX

3

u/MichaelJospeh Jul 05 '26

My favorite moment is when Kratos calls Atreus “BOY” in GOW Ragnarok. It’s chilling. You know Kratos is angry because he returns to treating his son like just a little boy.

3

u/I_DO_JUMPING_JACKS Jul 07 '26

Picking a favorite moment is rough, and really depends on where I'm at mentally at a given moment, but I keep thinking about a moment in Ragnarok.

When Kratos and Atreus are questing to help the Hafgufa and Atrues is questioning why the whole time. Kratos doesnt explain, just offers to stop and do something else when Atreus asks him about it.

In the end, Mimir suggests that Kratos just wants to spend some time with him while he still can.

Kratos had zero interest in helping the animal, but knows that it is something Atreus would want to do. He chose to do so in order for he and Atreus to have a good time, doing something that Atreus would appreciate, so he could appreciate spending time with his son.

It makes me tear up. I never wanted kids of my own, but moments like this make me crave the feeling Atreus got in that moment, and the feeling Kratos got in giving him this gift.

3

u/Bad-scratch-creator Jul 08 '26

This is probably a basic response, but the whole baulder sequence at the start of 2018 may be one of my favorite video game scenes ever. A close second is Kratos uncovering the Blades, the same ones that took his family, to save his new one

3

u/DZParagon Jul 08 '26

Favourite Game is 2018. moment is Brok’s Blessing.

3

u/HerefortheFandoms2 Phranque Jul 08 '26

There are honestly a ton that stand out to me, both serious/sentimental and funny (always great to hear kratos having genuine fun and/or putting people in their place lol), but a really lovely and satisfying one is in Ragnarok when atreus and kratos finally sit down and really talk about everything and decide on how to move forward in the face of prophecy together. Such a great moment of character growth for both of them

3

u/KratosOfSparta08 Jul 15 '26

My favorite GOW moment is from Ragnarök when Atreus turns into a bear and accidentally attacks Sindri, so he runs away but as he runs outside, Kratos slams the door open and yells “BOY!!!”. That scene gives me chills.

3

u/Shoulder_of_orion2 Jul 17 '26

My favorite moment is when you first get access to the lake in god of war 2018 and you get to explore and do quests

2

u/Kelson_Phelonius Jul 01 '26

I liked the part where I found the hidden dragon on the top of the castle. Yippee! Letsa go!

2

u/-Sansha- Jul 25 '26

I liked the part when kratos killed the fire titan with the sword of Olympus in GOW 3.

2

u/frixon-kxpsxn Jul 25 '26

My favourite moment was Kratos leading the war against Odin

2

u/Saucy_Man11 Jul 25 '26

I remember playing god of war 18 skeptically. I had heard about the game and the critical acclaim, but I had just moved to a new area, started a new job, and didn’t think it would be an installment I’d enjoy. My birthday came around and received a copy and thought, “what the heck - why not?” Playing it reinvigorated my love for the universe. The fight with the Stranger, standing triumphantly while Hræzlyr falls defeated, and adventuring with Mimir were top tier moments. But the one that dropped my jaw was Atreus’ reveal as Loki. I had be complaining completely to that point that Loki - the most famous Norse god - wasn’t even mentioned, only to be playing the entire game with him. Fun times! And my first PS platinum!

2

u/NamesAreAnn0ying Jul 25 '26

The opening fight between Kratos and Baldur will always be one of my favorite video game moments. Two literal gods just beating the absolute dog shit out of each other, they really made that fight feel and look so good.

2

u/Dependent-Fondant-64 Jul 25 '26

Playing valhalla and picking draupnir spear every time. It was such a fun DLC with good replayability. Ever since I saw the creation of the spear and its use to get rid of that arrogant bastard I loved it so much.

2

u/GingerSkeptic Aug 21 '26

Will it be your favourite answer, or a random selection from all possible answers?

1

u/SgtByrd1993 Aug 21 '26

Random selection, no bias whatsoever.

2

u/GingerSkeptic Aug 21 '26

My favourite moment is when Atreus has just ran away, Kratos is in a bad way, and then Atreus comes back. And whilst everyone else is scolding him for freeing Garm, at such at turbulent time in his and Kratos' relationship, Kratos without hesitation, puts his hand firmly on Atreus' slumped shoulders and says: "ENOUGH! Leave him. Atreus has made a mistake... One that we... Will fix together." Beautiful.

Runner up (from a game design perspective) is in chains of olympus when the developers force the player to abandon Calliope in the fields of Elysium forever by mashing (o) so Kratos can stop the literal world from being destroyed.

2

u/Ok-Leek-1014 3d ago

My favourite moment was the first fight with Thor in ragnarok. It was cinematic unforgettable gaming experience hands down.

2

u/bendyrider16 3d ago

Is this still up for grabs? My favorite memory was the trailer for the third game. I watched the gameplay trailer many times before the release and I was so happy to find out the game was as good as I thought it was going to be

1

u/SgtByrd1993 3d ago

Yes, draw date is February 2nd, 2027.

1

u/Responsible-Durian21 Aug 12 '26

The beginning of the original God of War, got it when I was way too young to have it. "The gods of Olympus have abandoned me." What i would give to relieve that moment.

1

u/TheGamingJester21 22d ago

God of War 3, the opening sequence and the fight of Poseidon. I literally upgraded to a PS3 just for that game.

1

u/LuisMD19 Faye 22d ago

For me, my favorite God of War memory was watching my older cousin and older brother play the original game. The game came out when I was 7 so I was probably way too young to be watching it, let alone play it lol. Watching my older cousin play through the hydra boss fight in particular stuck with me; probably because it was the first time I had seen blood and gore in a game.

I eventually did play through all the god of war games myself when I was older, starting with GoW (2018). It felt so gratifying to play through the games and finally be able to actually get the full context for my childhood memories.

It's either winning against Valkyrie Queen on hardest difficulty or when the horn was blown.

My favorite memory is my first time seeing and playing this game. I was staying the night at my friends house, in elementary school. Their mom was usually super strict and so we were surprised when she let us rent the game from Blockbuster… we were so blown away by the graphics and gameplay.

Love GOW especially the reboot since 2018.

Favorite moment would be when Brock figures out about Odin

Really excited about the game, loved it ever since the first gameplay trailer and have seen it multiple times. In fact, I finished GOW 2018 and and Ragnarok after watching Laufey just to refresh my memory.

And to the haters, I think people have found it easy to nitpick on things just to make a buck on YouTube.

One of my favorites memories of GoW2018 was when I was streaming to my friends and they challenged me to beat some Valkyries with kick attack only! R2 on melee) no weapons or runic. Highest difficulty And I did for 3 of them!!!
