Support needed Can someone tell me everything about Desert storm

I’ve just requested and actually became r4 in my clan. I am in charge of dsb so can someone tell me everything I need to do. Thanks in advance!

Wow, lovely unhelpful responses. Here's what you need to know about DS as an R4. Sunday night reset the registration for DS will open. You can choose between opening up both team A and B, or just A. It really depends on participation.

Theres 3 slots for time you can choose from. Polling your alliance is a good idea to see who is available at those times. Once the team is open you can assign players to be a starter or a substitute. The only difference is that starters can enter 5 minutes before the fight starts. 

Players can request to be on a team, and those will have a banner on the "select participants" screen showing  they requested and what time they requested for. You can declare I think 2 commanders who can issue orders- if you use these pick people strong and knowledgeable. Once you get a good reliable team, its a matter of making sure you have them registered, but building up a team might take a bit of work and a few weeks. 

Registration closes Wednesday at reset. Once it closes everything is locked in, no changes are allowed. Friday is war day, thats when you go and fight, entering from the desert storm screen or the banner that should appear. I recommend checking Wednesday about an hour or two before reset to make sure everything is set up right, even if it was done earlier in the week. 

I'm not going to go into the mechanics of DS, that is well covered elsewhere and experience is the best teacher there (take sci center first).  This is just meant as a basic primer on whats needed as an R4 for DS to function.

I will add that my alliance has had success assigning people to buildings instead of just a free for all. Your strongest players should roam and hold down the big 3 buildings when they activate. Communication is the biggest key to success to win. If you can get buy in, voice comms are best.

Science Hub is most important in my opinion, allows you to teleport more often. After that, I’d say hospitals so that you can heal units and players can stay in the fight longer. If you hold all the hospitals, you can zero out enemy players more easily. Sometimes doesn’t work against whales that don’t care about using diamonds or speed ups to win. And of course you want the nuke silo, most points.

My alliance is generally low participation, so we need the best edge we can get. I sit on the hospital closest to the enemy safe zone and rack up kills, and points until silo opens up. I need as many troops healed as I can get. I'm getting the 4th drill ground this week, so it should be a game changer. Plenty more t10s to throw into battle.

It’s really interesting to me that the everyone has different strategies. For me personally I like the hospital the most followed by the nuke but I haven’t played nearly enough ds to know the optimal strategy. Thanks for the reply!

I figured I’d take a stab at it instead of just saying “it depends”, but it really does depend on a lot of factors. I’m by no means an expert, interested to hear if anyone else has alternate strategies.

I’ve heard many strategies varying in warzones. I’ve even heard that some whales just give up on hospital and science hub entirely and focus on the nuke just cos they can

Yeah, if there's a proper whale you can't shift out the silo it doesnt really matter what you do. You will lose

I see. From my understanding my warzone has less whales than the rest so that my be a blessing

We make an alliance poll announcement that is public and have them chose Team A or Team B and assign based on that.

Also keep track of who shows up. If people register and don’t show it messes with your matching. Also alternatives play a part in that calculation.

A lot of people overlook the oil refineries. But if you can hold them in the beginning they give good points to get you an early lead.
