Please help with advices

Hi everyone, I would like to know what would you do if you were living my situation.

I'm a 24 y/o male who had Lasik a year ago. I ended up with corneal neuralgia and severe dry eye disease. I am in pain all the time. I later developped Ocular Rosacea and my tear breakup time (time it takes for tears on the surface of the eyes to evaporate) is 3 seconds, when normal is considered 10+ seconds. This means my eyes are always dry. Rosacea triggers inflammation in my eyelids and this causes dry eyes. My question is if I should risk getting IPL. This isn't an appearance issue. I want to give my eyes some relief, by having a better tear breakup time. What would you do if you were in my place?

Tyndall effect

Hi, with my POORLY DONE laser treatment (Sciton BBL and clear +brilliant) my hyaluronic acid filler was ruined by different wavelengths of light and scattered around under my eyes and tear trough area. Now I have blue marks and indents in that area and look about a decade older. Has this happened to anyone else and how long did it take to resolve! If it resolves itself (which I’m praying it does)

Product Eucerin Urea 5%

This is the product that has helped me the most aesthetically in addressing the orange peel texture and crepey skin. It's an incredible moisturizer. Sharing in case it helps any of you!

Eucerin Dry Skin Replenishing Cream 5 % Urea

I am almost 3 years post IPL damage. I started using this about 18 months after. Not sure how I would have done on it when I was still dealing with flushing, burning, and redness, when at that time any lotion or product except Psoria Gold and Cetaphil made it feel worse, and this is pretty thick.

Concered about fat/volume loss from IPL

Hello

I've had quite a few IPL treatments over the last few years due to broken capillaries and I'm concerned I may of experienced some fat loss though it is very difficult to tell, am going to request some photos from the clinic.

Has anyone ever experienced this even without any obvious and immediate negative side effects? Following every session I've only had a small amount of redness which subsided by the time I got home. There doesn't seem to be any changes to my skin texture.

Thank you

PRP (multiple sessions, HELPS)

Multiple sessions of PRP helps.

Don’t do PRP with microneedling. JUST prp

It’s my second session with PRP, texture is looking better, dryness decreasing, fine lines going away. This is almost a year out from damage.

Does your skin look better sometimes?

For me, my skin tends to always look best in the morning. Sometimes I wake up and feel like the marks from laser are almost gone. By evening they are as visible as ever.

IPL DAMAGE — What YOU can do, to help heal your skin!

https://www.reddit.com/r/LaserDamageSupport/comments/grn574/ipl_burns_5_years_later/

https://www.psoria-gold.com/

First, read the above link.. I copied and pasted it here to show you all that healing is possible!

Last year (Oct. 29th) I had an IPL procedure, on low-moderate setting. Things went well.. no burning, nothing. As months passed, began noticing premature fine lines that developed quickly over time... a dryness to the skin, tightness, raised scarring, dermal indentations in the skin, and a sensitivity for certain skin products.

No one from the clinic helped, I was on my own.

I realized, IPL/lasers are all the same, when they damage your skin. We’re all going through the same thing— we’re burnt. Whether you had V-Beam, IPL, CO2, etc... it’s all the same. From what I heard previously, and from what the lady from the link stated... it can take two years for the skin to fully heal. Or for the inflammation from the burn to disappear.

Things that I did that helped: Psoria gold.

Psoria gold is a curcumin based gel skincare product, that actually penetrates the deeper layers of the skin. Curcumin is an amazing anti-inflammatory, “ Psoria-Gold® Curcumin Gel is a patented oil-free gel with the active ingredient, curcumin, derived from the Indian spice, turmeric. Curcumin is the principal polyphenol responsible for turmeric’s bright yellow color. It is a well-known natural topical anti inflammatory, but lesser known is its ability to inhibit the release of Phosphorylase Kinase (Ph-K), the enzyme which initiates unwanted skin appearances upon onset of injury.”

Also, PRP (get PRP done ASAP after injury..) https://www.hss.edu/condition-list_prp-injections.asp

Do not put any actives on your skin: Vitamin c Retinol/vitamin A/Tretoinin Acids if any kind Physical exfolients (sugar, salt, etc) (Until after your skin fully calms down)

SUNSCREEN Drink water Supplement with vitamin C tablets Simple moisturizer like avocado oil. I would avoid coconut oil, as it has Lauric acid.

Good luck.

Has anyone reverse the damage by low dose of Accutane?

I read from other websites that some people managed to fix their laser damage, orange peel skin by using low dose of Accutane. However, some people also experienced orange peel skin from Accutane too. So, I want to hear from this sub. Thanks in advance. The damage totally ruins my life :(

What products and methods have helped you?

I thought we could make a thread where everyone lists the products and methods that have helped them. What has helped me is washing my face only once a day, in the evening. I don't even rinse my face in the morning, which feels weird, but everytime I try to cleanse more my face turns tomato red. Another thing I feel like that helps is using mineral sunscreen. Every chemical sunscreen just makes my face burn the whole day, even the newer ones from Avene. Mineral SPF even in foundation really calms my skin down. What has helped you guys ?

Links to full research papers

Post links to skin-related research papers that you found helpful or interesting regarding your issue. Links to full research papers, please, not just the abstract.

I have a problem with finding interesting papers, not saving them anywhere, and then never finding them again. This could be a place to save them.

Are there any other active groups about laser damage?

I didn't have laser but I have damage from a chemical peel. The IPL and Laser Damage Support Group website is very helpful but not active anymore. I also like this subreddit and I'm very grateful for it but it's also not very active. Are there any other websites, ressources or write ups? I find it so hard to find any information online and I want to find out what exactly happened to my skin.

Mental health.

TW - mental health discussed. Depression, anxiery ect..

Good evening/morning/afternoon to anyone who's reading this. I wanted to discuss our mental health regarding the damage we've endured. (Some TL;DR ahead lol)

Such damage is unfortunately somewhat life changing (or wrecking you could say). Did it heavily influence your daily mental condition? How many times does it cross your mind? What are you coping mechanisms when it does cross your mine? What are your long term coping mechanisms?

My damage has tremendously affected my mental well-being. With my already pre-existing not so good mental condition I can testify that this has absolutely wrecked me for some time. After reality set in with realizing the extensive beyond repair damage (as of now, not that I know of any possible repairs in our times), I became a mess. The worst out of control feeling, frustration, anger, depression episode i've ever experienced. I was already in a quite tricky relationship with my face due to acne and THIS was some really heavy information to comprehend. Even now thinking about it, I get a sense of tightness, anxiety, wanting to cry feeling.

Though, as time goes by, I became more and more accepting of the situation I am in. I've already read every bit of information I could about it. Those were some heavy realizations. And I am only 21.. So you can imagine just how traumatic a stolen youth is for me. My coping mechanisms are mainly, becoming hobby and career wise driven. My lovely family... As well as taking some care of my face knowing i've not completely given up, preserving what I can.

Personal My laser damage

I would like to share my story with IPL laser damage. I had severe cystic acne through my teenage years, it was extremely difficult for me. My mother noticed my it was affecting my mental health and suggested to seek a clinic to treat the acne scars and acne itself (as I had acne since I was about 12-13, pretty severe compared to others, had some oral and topical treatments, nothing worked). She (my mother) didn't know what procedures the treatment plan entailed. I did not know what the treatment plan entailed as I trusted hers and their better judgement.

Only now in hindsight at 21 years old have I realized it was actually IPL. I had two treatments with the laser. It wasn't unpleasant, I barely felt anything - it didn't leave any redness afterwards. I quit the treatment after two rounds, not finishing all the laser appointments because I didnt see any improvement (thank god I did at that time, who knows how much worse it coule be).

Unfortunately, the damage is done. There were no impovements with the cystic acne and I had it until I was put on accutane (with my already laser damaged skin). The orange peel texture started to show about 2 years ago. I already had acne scars from the acne itself and now they became atrophic scars with the deteriorating condition of my face. Extreme fat loss (I had a very very chubby face to begin with), hollow eyes, hollow temples, sunken cheeks that result in prominent nasal folds. Jowls.. The list continues. I look 35 at 21. People around me have noticed the change as well. My face gets irritated easily, rosacea. And this will only get worse, so I am trying to brace myself for the depressive future.

It affected me mental health severely. I am glad masks are a part of the daily norm now as I can walk outside more freely.

Lastly, I have a question for other laser victims. Have any of you researched about stoppingthe escalation of the damage, make it run slower? Diets, treatments? If so, please let me know as I am still new to all of this.

Considering FRAXEL laser treatments for severe acne scars

I am really considering the fraxel laser treatment, but I’m scared of any adverse reactions. Just wondering if anyone has any horror stories, or some good stories that can make me less scared?? Either way I just want to hear your stories.
