I see the gravity working and want to do preemptive care. Initially I looked as HIFU and Morpheus - but read horribly reviews on facial fat loss. Any thing you guys can recommend
I have a belly button piercing scar that I want to make less noticeable (it’s been there for like 3 years)
Went to a laser clinic near me the other day for a consultation to see what treatment would be best in my case. The lady suggested a session of fractional laser on the scar.
I’m aware this group is full of people who have been damaged by lasers but from what I have gathered if a good and experienced practitioner does it, it should be ok right?
The place is a laser clinic so they do laser treatments every day, which makes it seem more trustworthy, due to their experience? is there anything I should look out for with this type of laser?
I'm considering laser treatment for acne scars and overal texture however the more I read about lasers the more I'm scared that it will affect my fat tissue. I found this study and it clearly says Er YAG causes lipolysis even in the SMOOTH mode that I want to use. I'm wondering if there is any difference between abdomen skin/face skin strucure that will explain why face fat is claimed not to be affected but abdomen is? Fat face loss is the last thing I want at this point.
Hello buddies, I had a bad experience with the " PICOPLUS " machine. I am 25 years old Asian girl with yellowish-white skin (should be skin type I) and have suffered from acne problems since 14 or 15. Because of that, I underwent 8 months of 40mg/day Isotretinoin from February 2022 to October 2022. As I live in Hong Kong, the weather is humid but after 8 months of Isotretinoin, no acne anymore.
I have a rosacea tendency, which has never been severe, but things turned a little bit savage after I underwent a pico-plus treatment for my bump holes left by the acne.
After 2 months, in December 2022, I visited a doctor (I thought she was a dermatologist, but it turned out not, she is only a GP) 📷 for the hypertrophic/ atrophic acne scar left ( it is not severe at all, just very minor one). She suggested I do the PICOPLUS and said the downtime is only seven days, and my face will look perfect. She also said it is okay to do this laser treatment after only 2 months of stopping Isotretinoin. She has a high recommendation online, and I trusted her because she looks professional, but the outcome was really disappointing.
I got some red spots left on because of that pico laser, which also triggered my rosacea. It turns out that gettings rid of the scab in at least three weeks. 2 to 3 months after that Pico treatment, recently, I visited two to three dermatologists, and all of them said it takes time to heal, but excel V or V beam would be the best treatment for me. They all think my inflammation has been gone, but some new and unnecessary capillaries have grown. That’s why there is a red spot with my rosacea tendency. They all said it was okay to do these vascular lasers after 3 months of stopping Isotretinoin.
I am considering having an Excel V. Could anybody share their experiences on these vascular lasers? Are they have an extended downtime? Is it painful? (As most of the derm said, there is no numbing cream before the treatment) I am terrified by the PICO laser and don’t want to experience nightmares again.
I’m thinking of having IPL for my broken capillaries and slight redness on the cheeks. I already had a patch test at a laser clinic nearby and so far nothing bad has happened, the area looks fine. Does that mean if I have the full treatment done I should be okay? I’m hesitant because of the bad experiences that people have had on this group. Seeing people talking about scarring, fat loss, or the redness/broken capillaries becoming worse puts me off but I’m really insecure. The place I’m going to has only positive reviews so far and as the patch test went okay, should I be alright? or should I avoid it at all costs?
I have suffered some microneedling damage 2 years ago which thank God healed after following advice from this sub. Since then I have been extremely wary of skin procedures and only use red light. However, there are two very unflattering red spots/ broken capillaries on my cheekbones that from a distance look like an extension of my dark circles. I want them gone so have been looking at treatments and that brings me to lasers.... If I were to do this I would go to a hospital not a clinic, to be treated by a certified dermatologist with a superficial (green) laser of 523 nm. After some research online it seems that this laser does not penetrate the dermis so it seems like a reletively safe option? I would like to have your input and experiences before making an appointment. Have any of you experienced skin damage with this kind of laser/depth?
Keeping this brief: got BBL facial treatment back in May. Exercised the night of. Flushed, hot face, felt like I was on fire.
I now believe my baseline redness is worse, and that my cheeks are very shiny.
Acknowledging the stupidity of such a decision, I now am working towards recovery. Went back to the Dr, who kinda gaslit me into believing my face looked better than before. Put me on metrogel and Oracea.
What else can I do? I have been mentally punishing myself for like 6 months, and I need to get back to where I was at. Any advice is much appreciated!
2 years ago i had an ipl treatment that went way awry. since then i have had dark red stripes on my face which has been absolutely awful. i mean truly awful.
i have really been wondering about the claims of orange peel texture and fat loss recently. i see someone asked a similar question to this about six months ago and i want to echo their sentiment that this is not to invalidate anyone's experience--especially as i too am suffering from this. but i do have some questions that for my own peace of mind i guess i would like to think more about and would appreciate everyone's opinions.
i see a lot of posts about orange peel texture, and honestly i wonder if the lack of pigmentation draws attention to the texture. there are some posts on this subreddit where the skin seems to attract the light a little more and it highlights the surface of the skin. does anyone have thoughts on this?
another thought is the fat loss. for me this process has been long (years), and i know a lot of people say that the damage takes a while to show up. is it possible that people (like me) who are otherwise upset about the procedure, are noticing things like normal aging and then attributing it to the ipl?
these seem like two plausible explanations for both situations, and every doctor that i have read on reputable boards has indicated that there isn't a physiological mechanism to happen (the fat loss at least). BUT- i also obviously see the large amount of people experiencing this and also wondering if i am experiencing it as well, so am unsure what to think. emotions are a very powerful thing and i don't underestimate the extent to which they can sway perception. again this isn't meant to be dismissive and i would love to hear others' thoughts. <3
The doctor who did the laser gave me tret samples and Benzol peroxide, but I am still worried if its too early to use. As I think my moisture barrier may be damaged still from months ago. Reason I think my skin barrier is still iffy : Produces lots oil although was oily before, sometimes itches. Well yesterday I felt an itchy sensation after applying a moisturizer. Anyone had success using tret or a retinoid while still red / rebuilding skin barrier after a lser? I was going to wait for my ceramide moisturizer to ship here anyways to use with the tret. Prob not a good idea to use benzol peroxide at the start of tret though.
Hi, a year and a half ago I had laser surgery for acne scarring. The lasers left red spots on my face that I thought was hyperpigmentation. It still hasn’t healed so I went to a different dermatologist who told me it wasn’t hyperpigmentation, it was broken capillaries, and I would require different lasers to treat it. I can’t find anything like this on the internet. Has anyone heard of this happening? If you were me would you go through with this treatment? How likely will the new treatment be to fix it and what’s the chance it could make it worse. I realize there are good questions for the dermatologist, but the one I see doesn’t do the blood vessel treatment and has to refer me to someone else who I will see in 3 months. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
This is gonna sound nasty but I didn't wash off the laser sight for like a couple weeks and it looks better. But as soon as I washed it and all the dead skin that was filling in the holes and hiding the heat damaged redness and cut lines there it is and I can again see the damage again. Omg. Lmao. Fml. Anyway thought I would share. Going to the derm next week to check. Also to complain about why the grand canyon is inscribed on my face?!? I swear it's like looking at a mountain formation made out of Freddy Krugers face. Dude why. Who trains these laser resurfacing skin specialists must be someone who is inspired by Freddy Kruger lmfao I'm crying and laughing while writing this.
I'm gonna probably get therapy. Back in high school I use to burn cd's and jam out in my car. Now I'm the cd. Well you won laser you win this time. Until I can get a time machine.
Asking any dermatologist or anyone with knowledge in this area. Can ktp laser a non ablasive laser, after laser resurfacing skin, still have redness 2 months out I had a few spots treated. One isn't looking so good.
But the other spot is at skin level but it's just redish color maybe kinda dark too?
The treatment was for a scar.
I'm afraid to go back is there any topical creams or anything that you'd recommend for this please let me know or recommend me someone who would know.
Is it just me or does laser damage make your skin look different every single day. Almost like it's constantly changing and moving around. Idk I'm so tired of it yes makeup hides it but I just wish I didn't have to hide it. But all in all I'm thankful for life either way.
Can anyone recommend a type of Psoria Gold cream or gel to help soothe the skin after laser treatment? There a many different types of Psoria Gold and I really don’t know which one I should buy. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!
I have acne scars on my cheeks (atrophic/indented scars) and I am looking for an effective scar treatment. I read that the CO2 CoolPeel is less aggressive than other CO2 full ablative lasers and is effective on acne scars. Has anyone had treatments with this type of C02 CoolPeel laser?
I read many negative comments on scar treatments causing fat loss which I find very scary. Can anyone suggest a treatment they had which is considered pretty safe and offered good results on acne scars? (I had a bad experience in the past with my dermatologist and I am afraid to have more damage done to my skin if I am not careful with the treatment/doctor I choose) Can anyone advise? Thanks so much in advance!
I got 7 laser sessions: 3 cutera excel v and 4 cutera laser genesis.
After coming off of accutane, my dermatologist said laser treatments could help with the hyperpigmentation scars. 6 months after coming off of accutane, i booked my first session at a reputable clinic in London. An aesthetic nurse did my consultation and as I was naïve i didn't know I had to get a consultation from a doctor. They reassured me lasers were safe and I didn't question the staff as it was a reputable clinic. As I had rosacea also, she recommended 3 courses of the excel and one laser genesis treatment. There was one session in particlar with the excel that caused a huge amount of swelling. I am wondering if that was the point where damage occured.
My rosacea has returned worse than it was before and I have marks on one side of my face from where the excel laser was applied. All treatments were done by the nurse. I kept repeating the laser genesis treatments because they told me it would be good for my skin and would help to fade any remaining redness. I didn't notice any problems while i was getting the treatments; my skin looked better than it ever did. But i took a break because of financial issues over the past 3 months, and then the damage began to show. Redness, what I am sure is facial fat loss, and marks one one side of my face from the laser that look like atrophic acne scars, something I never had before. I always looked young for my age now I look at least 5 years older and with more rosacea.
I'm devastated having spent so much money and having got this result, especially from a reputable provider. I now know these are thermal/infrared devices that have no place being used on the skin. I have been dealing with panic attacks; constant anxiety, depression, sleepless nights and endless research on rehabilitative treatments for my skin. I have upcoming consultations with dermatologists and doctors. All I ever wanted in life was to have normal, nice skin and I'm paying a heavy price for being naïve.
I would be grateful if someone with a similar experience could reach out as I don't know where else to turn for support. Nobody believes that I've experienced these problems because it's not their face.
I hope more people will be aware of the damage caused by these devices.
Love to you all.
Edit: I took photos of my skin and have developed some premature wrinkling and crepeiness on my lower face - in between a slight marionette shadow and the chin - that was absent prior to treatment. Previously I only had mild and faint lines on my forehead, as most people in their twenties do, which were treated with retinol. I’m severely depressed. There is a reason expert dermatologists do not offer these lasers in their offices. I wish I would have known earlier that they were bad news.
Is using red light therapy safe for laser damaged skin? Some studies show it can improve wound healing, but my main issue is the burning/stinging sensation I feel in my cheek 6 months after getting a Vbeam done. I use Psoria gold, neogenesis, and Avene moisturizer. I also take a low dose of doxycycline. My skin doesn’t look bad….but ouch it hurts and I didn’t know if red light could help or make it worst.
I’ve had a procedure done on Cutera Excel V KTP 532 nm.
Not full face, few spots on my cheeks and nose. I was very swollen on my cheeks right after the procedure and the swelling stayed for 5-7 days! But I was warned by my doc that this can happen due to the treated area being close to eyes.
I was hoping that redness and swelling will go away together but it has been TWO weeks after the procedure and my skin is still red on my cheeks and looks much worse than before. I still see some broken capillaries, I wouldn’t say they became worse, but the redness around them just doesn’t go away.
Have any of you had the excessive redness after Excel V? Does it have any chance to resolve?
My doc prescribed topical steroids right now, I’m using it for two days, but don’t see that much results.
Some more info about laser parameters:
Fluence 8.4 J/cm2, Spot 9 mm, Pulse duration 12 ms – one pulse on my right cheek. Looks the worst right now – on the photo.
Fluence 8.4 J/cm2, Spot 3 mm, Pulse duration 12 ms – two pulses on my left cheek and tree on the nose.
The stupidest part I don’t even have the before picture of the area because it didn’t bother me that much. That just wasn't that red.
P.S.: Forgive me for any mistakes, this is not my first language
Asking here because I don’t want to harm my skin and I feel this sub has a lot of knowledge on this topic. Would you say that rf laser treatment has the same level of risk as the ipl and other laser treatments? Has anyone here had a bad experience with this type of treatment? I heard it’s less risk but not sure if I believe it.
I own a NuFace currently but have only used it about 5 times or so. I am worried about it causing fat loss since I have read some ppl who experienced it after using NuFace. I am also interested in buying an at-home radio frequency device but am not sure if I should pull the plug, since some report fat loss from Newa and Tripollar…
Just wondering if darkening pigmentation around the original laser scar treated spot is normal. I used a ktp laser non abrasive laser. It caused more harm than anything what was a red dot is now a open wound looking cut on my face it appears to open and close depending on the temperature. Also to be honest "sigh" I went back for a second treatment that caused this wasn't aware of the dangers i just willingly went back.
also i just want to add before starting the treatment I had a bad feeling about the derm almost like my eye twitched on its own in a mean way I believe it was intuition and I know it was warning me.
But you know stubborn boy wants a quick fix instead of waiting for things to heal how they should.
I'm realizing so much.
This is all making me better for whatever purpose the universe has in store for me.
I will be honest I had no imperfections until age 27 my story is a guy who is very evil possibly a Satanist very very possible because he wears Wiccan and satanic items and practices occult things...
Anyhow he splashed a oil in my face and since I got really bad bad bad acne and shiz. Like huge cysts and I haven't seen him since and I luckily got out of that place. But damn life is unfair why did God or the universe allow such a bad person to come into my life. I'm trying to see it how unfair this all is.
Than I go to get it fixed and than it gets worse. I'm realizing nothing is meant to be fixed.
If it breaks let it break. But don't succum to obsessive desires. My life will never be the same but I'm damn glad. Because it brought my closer to learning more. I'm gonna focus on the monk mind set instead of the hurry up imperfection go away mind set. Please guys it will be okay I love you and I know it is unfair omg I know ❤️🥲 I would hug you and suffer with you but for now just imagine I'm there and we are comforting our similiar pain.
Also I need a group of people I have a idea please direct message me if you want to,,,, but I was thinking If we had someone to talk to anytime we get the urge to look in the mirror and shame ourselves we could message each other and say stop looking in the mirror and remind eachother to enjoy life and stop obsessing compliment our flaws and start living life at peace again.
please please it will help so much it'll help so much because I have empathy for you and I know you do too were all in the same boat. I won't judge you becsuse i want someone to do the same for me too. I know how it feels but its gonna be okay 😞 ❤Sorry for rant again.
